Canon Australia lists a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), 350-sheet plain-paper capacity, duplex printing and refillable GI-66 ink bottles. Its published speed and page-yield figures are manufacturer ratings, not independent test results, so treat them as a starting point rather than a guarantee of real-world performance.
What the GX6160 offers
Canon Australia describes the GX6160 as a multifunction printer for print, scan and copy jobs. It combines a 2.7-inch monochrome LCD with a compact-office feature set, including an ADF for feeding multi-page documents and support for duplex printing. Canon calls it compact, but the product information cited here does not provide dimensions for assessing whether it will fit a particular desk or counter.

Its connections include Wi-Fi, wired LAN, USB-B, direct wireless connection and USB flash support. That gives an office several ways to connect a computer or mobile device and a wired-network option, although the exact setup requirements and available software depend on the device and current driver listings. Canon’s GX6160 support page is the place to check current drivers, software and setup manuals.

Paper handling and document workflow
Canon lists capacity for 350 sheets of plain paper: 250 sheets in the cassette and 100 in the rear tray. The 50-sheet ADF is intended for feeding document pages for scanning or copying; it is separate from the paper input capacity. Duplex printing can reduce manual handling for two-sided print jobs, but the cited specifications do not establish automatic two-sided scanning through the ADF.

Rated print speed and resolution
Canon Australia specifies print speeds of up to 24 images per minute (ipm) in black and 15.5 ipm in colour, with a maximum resolution of 600 × 1,200 dpi and a maximum print width of 206 mm. These are manufacturer-listed figures. Actual throughput depends on the document and operating conditions, and no independent timing or print-quality assessment is established here. A buyer choosing a printer for deadline-sensitive work should not assume the rated maximum will match every job.

GI-66 ink and published yields
For the Australian market, Canon lists GI-66BK black and GI-66C, GI-66M and GI-66Y colour ink bottles as compatible with the GX6160. Canon publishes yields of up to 6,000 black pages and 14,000 colour pages per replacement set under its stated test method. In Economy Mode, its figures rise to up to 9,000 black and 21,000 colour pages.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThose are estimated yields, not a promise of the number of pages a particular office will get. Canon says the initial setup bottles yield less because some ink is used to fill the print head, and that results vary significantly with printed content and other factors. Black and colour figures describe separate yield categories; they should not be added together as a single page total. A cost-per-page estimate also requires current local bottle prices and a usage assumption that matches the work being printed.

Is the GX6160 a good fit for a small office?
Its documented features make the GX6160 worth considering when a small office needs printing, copying and scanning, wants a substantial paper supply, and expects to benefit from refill-bottle ink. The ADF and duplex printing support routine document workflows, while Wi-Fi and wired LAN offer flexible connection choices.

Whether it is the right purchase depends on the office’s print mix, volume, need for two-sided scanning, available space, and local ink and printer prices. The published specifications alone do not establish print quality, long-term reliability, real-world speed or value versus competing models; those require independent testing and a comparison using current local costs.
Australian price and warranty
Canon Australia lists an RRP of A$849. That is an Australian manufacturer-listed recommended retail price, not a verified current street price or statement of retailer availability. The same regional product information states a two-year warranty and says a unit found defective within the applicable manufacturer warranty period will be replaced with the same or an equivalent model, subject to terms and exclusions. Buyers outside Australia should consult their local Canon listing for price, bottle compatibility and warranty terms.

Verdict
The GX6160’s strongest documented case is as a small-office multifunction printer with refillable ink, a 50-sheet ADF and 350-sheet plain-paper capacity. Canon’s speed and yield numbers provide useful reference points, but they are rated or estimated figures rather than independent test results. Compare the local purchase and refill costs, confirm the document workflow you need, and check current support and warranty information before buying. See Canon Australia’s MAXIFY GX6160 MegaTank product page for the manufacturer’s specifications.
