The Canon MAXIFY GX5060 is a print-only MegaTank for a small office or home office that prints a lot. It does not scan, copy or fax. Its strengths on paper are refillable pigment-ink tanks, automatic two-sided printing, a 350-sheet paper capacity and rated page yields far above a typical cartridge printer. Whether it pays off depends on your monthly volume and on current local ink prices, which this article does not establish.
This is a specification-based assessment built from Canon’s regional technical sheet for the GX5060 (published by Canon Australia and accessed in 2026) and Canon Australia’s support documentation. We have not run independent speed, noise, print-quality or reliability tests on this model, so every performance figure below is Canon’s own claim, with the conditions Canon attaches to it.

Print-only: what the GX5060 does and does not do
Canon classifies the GX5060 as a “Compact Single Function Printer,” and its technical sheet carries the tagline “MegaTank. Mega value for small business.” The single-function label matters more than the tagline. If you regularly scan documents to email, copy a page, or send a fax, this machine will not cover those tasks, and you would need a separate device or a different all-in-one model.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Printing: black and colour documents, with automatic duplex (two-sided) printing.
- Not included: scanning, copying and faxing.
- Connectivity: USB, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, so it can sit on a shared network without a computer attached to it.
Rated specifications
The table lists the values from Canon’s technical sheet. Canon does not state the test conditions for speed in the material we reviewed, so treat the speed figures as the maximum rated output rather than what you will see on a typical job.

| Paper capacity | Up to 350 sheets | Enough for a week or more of routine office printing, depending on volume |

| Banner support | Up to 1.2 m | Confirm the media settings in the regional manual before printing banners |
| Connectivity | USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet | Suits shared office networks |

Canon’s sheet also lists envelopes among supported business media. Check the exact envelope and paper-weight specifications in Canon’s manual for your market before you rely on them for a specific mailing job.
Page yield: what Canon’s numbers include
Canon’s yield claims are the main reason MegaTank printers are attractive, so their test method matters. Canon says the rated yields use ISO/IEC 24711 test prints under controlled conditions, and that actual yield varies with use.

| Rated figure (A4, per bottle set) | Black and white | Colour |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Up to 6,000 pages | Up to 14,000 pages |
| Economy Mode | Up to 9,000 pages | Up to 21,000 pages |
Three caveats apply to every figure in that table:
- The first set yields less. Canon says the initial setup uses ink to fill the print-head nozzles, so the first bottle set will not reach the rated page count.
- Short jobs cost more per page. Canon says printing smaller jobs can lower yield compared with continuous printing, which matters if your work is many one- or two-page documents.
- Economy Mode is a separate claim. Canon gives a higher figure for Economy Mode, but the sheet does not explain the trade-off in the material we reviewed. Check the manual for what changes before you use it for documents that need to look sharp.
Ink and maintenance parts
The GX5060 uses four pigment ink bottles: GI-66BK (black), GI-66C (cyan), GI-66M (magenta) and GI-66Y (yellow). Canon’s sheet is the source for those part numbers. Compatible ink from other sources is not covered by Canon’s yield claims, so the rated figures apply to genuine Canon bottles only.

Canon Australia lists the MC-G01 as the user-replaceable maintenance cartridge that replaces the MC-G03, and confirms it is compatible with the GX5060. Canon does not state when the replacement is needed or how long a cartridge lasts, so do not budget for it as a purchase-day cost. Replacing it is a maintenance item, not a routine consumable.

Is it worth the price? A cost-per-page framework
We could not verify current street prices or retailer stock for the GX5060 or its bottles, so this article does not give a bottom-line running cost. The useful test is a calculation you can run with local prices:
Cost per page ≈ (price of the bottles you use per cycle) ÷ (rated pages per set)
Then adjust for reality. Use a lower page count than the rated figure, because your first set yields less, short jobs yield less, and your colour and black usage will not match Canon’s test mix. A conservative estimate is more useful than the headline yield.

- SET IT UP ONCE AND PRINT WITH CONFIDENCE. No complicated maintenance. Just easy, reliable printing you can count on.
- INK FOR YEARS. NOT MONTHS. Up to 2 years of ink included. Get thousands of pages of cartridge-free printing. More pages, less hassle

- INNOVATION YOU CAN TRUST. Cartridge-free printing that keeps you printing longer with fewer interruptions, powered by the trusted HP innovation you rely on today
- PREMIUM SUPPORT - Strong technical expertise to solve issues faster.
The GX5060 is most likely to make sense when:
- you print mostly black-and-white or long, continuous documents, where the rated yields are most reachable;
- you print a steady monthly volume that will use the ink before it ages;
- you do not need scanning, copying or fax, or you already own a device for those tasks;
- you need duplex printing and a 350-sheet paper tray to reduce manual handling.
It is less likely to suit you when most of your work is short colour jobs, when you print only a few pages each month, or when you need an all-in-one device for scanning and copying.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Canon Australia’s support page for the GX5000 series provides setup and connection instructions, an online manual, specifications, troubleshooting guidance, a list of compatible inks and dated software and driver downloads. Alternatives
We did not compare the GX5060 with other printers in this article, so nothing here says it beats a rival model. If you need scanning or copying, an all-in-one alternative is the right starting point.
