The Canon EOS RP was reported at $617 in the U.S. during Prime Day coverage in June 2026, but that price is historical—not a deal you can assume is still available. Canon’s U.S. product page now identifies the body as discontinued and unavailable, and its separately listed September 2026 offer has ended. Check a retailer’s current stock, price, seller, and item condition before considering a purchase.
Is the Canon EOS RP Prime Day deal still available?
Not on the evidence available here. Digital Camera World reported a U.S. price of $617 on June 23, 2026, during Prime Day coverage. That report records a price at that time; it does not establish a current offer or guarantee that the same price is available now.

Canon’s U.S. product page says the EOS RP body is discontinued and no longer available. The page also listed a $849 price against a $1,149 regular price for an offer running September 7–20, 2026. That stated window has passed, so neither price should be treated as a current promotion.

- High image quality with 26.2 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 8 Image processor

What kind of camera is the EOS RP?
The EOS RP is a compact, full-frame mirrorless camera built around a 26.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and Canon’s DIGIC 8 image processor. It uses Canon’s RF lens mount and includes Dual Pixel CMOS AF and a built-in electronic viewfinder, according to Canon’s product information.
Canon announced the camera in 2019 with an estimated U.S. body-only retail price of $1,299 and planned availability in March of that year. That launch figure is historical context, not a useful current price comparison. Canon’s launch announcement quoted Kazuto Ogawa, then Canon U.S.A.’s president and chief operating officer, saying the company hoped the EOS R line would one day be as widely popular as its EOS DSLR lineup.

Which lenses fit the EOS RP?
- RF lenses: Canon RF lenses mount directly to the camera.
- EF and EF-S lenses: These require the optional EF-EOS R mount adapter.
- EF-M lenses: Canon lists these as incompatible.
For an existing Canon DSLR owner, include the adapter’s cost and the lenses already owned when comparing the price of a used or refurbished EOS RP with another camera. Confirm the exact lens and adapter compatibility against Canon’s product information.

- Compact, Lightweight Full-Frame Design - The EOS RP weighs approximately 440g (body only), making it a compact and comfortable full-frame camera that's easy to carry, shoot with, and store.
- 54mm Large Diameter and Short Back Focus - The RF mount on the EOS RP camera has a large, 54mm internal diameter the same as the EOS R enabling impressive handling and providing increased flexibility for lens design. Thanks to the camera's mirrorless design, the lens's rear element can be much closer to the image plane. This reduced back focus distance, helps facilitate lenses of stellar optical quality and stunning performance while enabling innovative compact camera and lens designs.
- 20mm Flange Focal Distance for Increased Durability - All RF lenses feature a 20mm flange focal distance, which is the distance from the lens mount to the surface of the image sensor. This flange focal distance balances the benefits of short back focus with the engineering requirements necessary for mount stability. Accordingly, the RF mount's flange focal distance ensures excellent optical performance while maintaining the mount rigidity and camera durability necessary for real-world operatio
- 26.2 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor - The EOS RP camera features a Canon-developed and produced 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with approx. 26.2 effective megapixels. It employs the DIGIC 8 Image Processor to enhance the speed of operations across the board. This means fast, efficient performance and phenomenal image quality for big prints.
- Confirm stock and total price. Check that the item can actually be ordered, and review the price after shipping, taxes, and any other listed fees.
- Read the condition carefully. Distinguish new, refurbished, and used units; confirm what accessories are included and whether the listing describes the exact condition of the body.
- Identify the seller. Check who sells and ships the camera, not just the marketplace hosting the listing.
- Check the return policy. Make sure the return period and conditions are clear before buying discontinued stock.
- Compare any bundle on its actual contents. A kit lens or accessories change the value of the deal; do not assume a past bundle is still offered.
