The Canon EOS Rebel T3i—also called the EOS 600D—takes SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards, records Full HD video, uses an LP-E8 battery, and accepts Canon EF and EF-S lenses. The practical details are below, including the camera’s clip limits and Canon’s battery-life estimates.
What memory card does a Canon T3i take?
The T3i supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards. Canon says the card is sold separately. Its compatibility guidance does not list CF Type I/II, MMC, or MMCplus cards as supported. See Canon’s compatible memory card guidance.

For movie recording, Canon advises using a large-capacity SD card rated SD Speed Class 6 or higher. Treat that as the manufacturer’s documented minimum guidance, not a guarantee that every card bearing a particular label will perform identically. A card that writes too slowly can prevent smooth recording; one that reads too slowly can cause playback problems.

These are manufacturer estimates, not exact capacity guarantees; leave room for variation when choosing a card. The camera records stills and movies directly to the card.

Can a Canon T3i shoot video?
Yes. Canon lists these recording sizes and frame rates in its EOS Rebel T3i / EOS 600D specifications:
| Resolution | Available frame rates |
|---|---|
| Full HD, 1920×1080 | 30p (29.97 fps), 25p, or 24p (23.976 fps) |
| HD, 1280×720 | 60p (59.94 fps) or 50p |
| SD, 640×480 | 30p (29.97 fps) or 25p |
Video is encoded as H.264/MPEG-4 AVC in MOV files, with Linear PCM audio. The camera has a built-in monaural microphone and a 3.5 mm stereo external-microphone input.

How long can one T3i video clip be?
A single clip stops when it reaches 4 GB. The camera can begin another clip after that, but an individual clip is capped at 29 minutes and 59 seconds even if it has not reached 4 GB. Canon also warns that rising internal temperature can end recording sooner. These limits mean the T3i is not suited to uninterrupted long-form recording in one file.

How long does the Canon T3i battery last?
The camera uses one LP-E8 rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, rated at 7.2 V and 1120 mAh in Canon’s specifications. Canon’s estimates below are for a fully charged battery under CIPA test conditions; they are not promises of personal-use results. Canon Singapore does not state a publication date for its battery-life page.

For movies, Canon estimates about 1 hour 40 minutes of recording from a fully charged LP-E8 at 23°C, or about 1 hour 20 minutes at 0°C. Screen use, autofocus, lens operation, image stabilization, temperature, and shooting habits can reduce real-world endurance. Canon also notes that prolonged half-pressing, frequent LCD use, and autofocus-only operation can reduce still-shot counts. Its support guidance recommends genuine Canon accessories.

The T3i is compatible with Canon EF lenses, including EF-S lenses. Canon gives an approximately 1.6× factor for 35mm-equivalent focal length: multiply the lens’s marked focal length by 1.6 to estimate the comparable field of view on a 35mm-format camera. This does not change the focal length printed on the lens.
