The Canon Color imageCLASS MF665Cdw is a color laser multifunction printer for offices and households that print, scan, copy, and fax documents regularly. Canon specifies a 50-sheet duplex automatic document feeder (ADF), Ethernet and wireless connectivity, and print speeds of up to 26 pages per minute on Letter paper. RTINGS reports sharp document output and very good scan detail, but weak fine-detail photo reproduction—so it makes more sense for paperwork than for photo printing.
What the MF665Cdw does—and who it suits
Canon lists print, scan, copy, and fax functions, along with a recommended monthly print volume of 150–2,500 pages. RTINGS describes the printer as primarily intended for small businesses with high printing needs, while noting it can also suit home use if photo printing is not a priority and there is room for its substantial body.

That range is a recommendation, not a promise of identical performance at every workload. Think about how many pages you expect to print in a typical month, and whether the bulk of them are business or household documents rather than photographs.
How it performs for documents, scans, and photos
RTINGS reports sharp document printing, very good scan detail, broad connectivity, and long toner life. Its review also reports a limited color gamut and weak reproduction of fine photo details. Those findings are RTINGS’ assessment under its stated review methodology, not a claim of independent testing here. Its review is dated November 5, 2025, and its page lists a test-bench update of September 25, 2026, using Methodology v1.4.1. RTINGS’ Canon Color imageCLASS MF665Cdw review
#1 Best Overall
- Single-Function, Color, Wireless, Duplex Printer: Print only. — No Scanning, Copying, or Faxing
- Fast Print Speeds: Print up to 26 ppm in both color and monochrome and spend less time waiting with a quick first print time of approximately 10.3 seconds.
- Easy Wireless Setup: Setup your wireless connection and get up and running in just a few steps.
- 5-inch LCD Screen: Navigate through all the features using the 5-line LCD screen.
- Mobile Device Printing: Print from your compatible mobile devices using the free Canon PRINT app, Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service.
The practical distinction is the kind of color work you need: charts, forms, and business graphics are a better match than prints where subtle color range or fine photographic detail matters. If photo output is a priority, choose a printer designed for that use instead.
Paper handling, speed, and connectivity
| Feature | Canon-listed specification |
|---|---|
| Print speed | Up to 26 pages per minute on Letter paper |
| Standard paper cassette | 250 sheets |
| Manual feed | 1-sheet manual feed slot |
| Automatic document feeder | 50 sheets, with duplex scanning |
| Connections | Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB |
| Display | 5-inch color touch LCD |
| Memory | 1 GB shared memory |
These are manufacturer specifications, not real-world speed guarantees. Actual throughput can vary with the document, settings, and job conditions. The duplex ADF is useful for scanning two-sided documents without manually turning each sheet; the 250-sheet cassette and single-sheet manual feed serve different paper-loading needs. Check the model suffix before buying
The MF665Cdw’s feature set is not interchangeable with every nearby MF660-series model. RTINGS identifies the MF665Cdw as including duplex single-pass scanning through its 50-sheet ADF and fax. Its listed distinctions are:

Toner yields and what to consider about running costs
Canon’s MF660-series user guide gives average replacement-cartridge yields based on ISO/IEC 19798 and the testing method described in the guide. These are averages, not guaranteed page counts for an individual user. The guide lists:
| Cartridge | Black yield | Color yield |
|---|---|---|
| 075 (standard) | 1,400 pages | 1,300 pages per color |
| 075 H (high capacity) | 3,500 pages | 2,500 pages per color |
Canon also lists the toner supplied with the printer at 700 black pages and 500 pages per color on the same stated standard basis. Your actual yield will depend on what you print and the conditions described in Canon’s guide. Compare the replacement cost of all required colors and your expected page mix before deciding whether the printer’s running costs fit your workload; current prices are not established here. Size and setup considerations
Canon lists dimensions of 16.8 × 18.2 × 15.7 inches and a unit weight of 48.5 lb. Measure the intended location, allow practical room to load paper and access connections, and plan how to move the printer into place. Its size and weight may be inconvenient in a compact home office. Canon’s listed dimensions and weight are unit specifications; consult the current regional spec sheet if exact fit is critical. How to decide whether it is the right printer
- Choose it if: you need color document printing plus scanning, copying, and fax; duplex scanning is useful; and Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, or USB fit your setup.
- Look elsewhere if: photo quality is a central requirement, the printer’s footprint is too large, or your page volume and the cost of replacement toner do not fit your budget.
- Compare alternatives carefully: RTINGS names the Brother MFC-L3780CDW as a comparison point, but current head-to-head pricing and all comparison metrics are not established here. Compare exact feature sets, including fax and duplex ADF scanning, alongside toner cost and available space.
