Before disconnecting, confirm the effective date, final-bill expectations, and equipment-return steps with Xfinity.
Choose an official way to cancel
Xfinity lists three cancellation routes: call 1-800-934-6489, schedule a call through its cancellation page, or visit an Xfinity Store. The best fit depends on whether you want to handle the request remotely or speak with someone in person. Xfinity also offers options for moving, changing service, lowering a bill, or pausing service; check those if disconnecting is not your only way to address the problem.

Xfinity’s cancellation page lists the available routes and links NOW Internet customers to separate instructions. Ask the representative to confirm your effective disconnect date, expected final charges, equipment-return instructions, and a confirmation number or other confirmation of the request.

Check your agreement and final bill
Your final amount depends on your account and agreement. Xfinity says a final bill can include prorated charges or equipment charges that were not on earlier bills. Xfinity Home customers with an Equipment Installment Plan may also owe the remaining equipment balance when service is disconnected.

The Residential Services Agreement dated January 1, 2026, says an early termination fee may apply when service under a minimum-term agreement ends before the term expires. Your own agreement governs the details. The agreement also says that service without a minimum-term agreement may be terminated by notifying Xfinity through a listed route, while reserving the possibility that service continues until the end of the billing cycle in which notice is received, subject to applicable law. Do not assume that cancellation takes effect immediately or that a prorated refund is guaranteed.
Return rented equipment and keep proof
Start at Xfinity’s Digital Return Center. You can use it after disconnection, but you need an Xfinity ID and password. Some items, including WiFi extenders, cameras, and Mobile products, have different return instructions.

Drop equipment at an Xfinity Store
Hand the equipment to a store representative and keep the receipt. Xfinity says store returns are removed from the account right away.

- In the Digital Return Center, choose the devices you are returning and verify their serial numbers.
- Select the return option and print the prepaid UPS label.
- Pack the device, remote, and power cord in the original packaging or any suitable cardboard box. Xfinity says HDMI, Ethernet, and cable wires do not need to be returned for this process.
- Keep the tracking portion of the label, then drop off the package at an accepted UPS location or schedule pickup using the tracking number.
Xfinity says to allow up to two weeks for a shipped return to appear on the account. A special box is not required if you already have a suitable cardboard box.

Know what can happen after disconnection
Equipment charges and refunds
Xfinity may add unreturned-equipment charges if rented equipment is not returned within 30 days after disconnection. Those charges can reduce or eliminate a credit refund. Xfinity says it reviews an eligible disconnected account after the equipment has been returned or 30 days have passed. After outstanding balances are applied, an eligible closed-account refund typically arrives in 4 to 6 weeks once requirements are met. These are published timelines, not guarantees for an individual account.
Mobile number and plan
If you are cancelling Xfinity Mobile and want to keep your phone number, transfer it before cancelling Mobile. Xfinity says Mobile customers who keep that service without Xfinity Internet, Voice, or TV may incur a monthly fee; check your current plan details for the applicable amount.

Comcast.net email and purchased titles
Xfinity says you can continue using a comcast.net email address if you logged into it during the 90 days before disconnection and then sign in at least once every nine months. Purchased titles may remain available through Xfinity Stream with the primary Xfinity ID and password.
Subscriptions billed through Xfinity
Review subscriptions paid through Xfinity before cancelling. For Netflix billed directly on X1, disconnecting all Xfinity service without updating the payment method with Netflix may eventually interrupt access. If Netflix was included with a package, a previously valid payment method may keep the account active; without one, Netflix says the account may go on hold until payment is added. Check your Netflix billing directly if you want to keep the subscription.
