Yes—but looping a YouTube playlist and broadcasting a 24/7 YouTube Live stream are different things. A viewer can repeat a playlist with YouTube’s Loop control. To make a channel appear live around the clock using prerecorded gameplay, a creator needs an encoder or compatible cloud service to send a live feed to YouTube; the playlist’s repeat button does not create a livestream.
Looping a playlist as a viewer
If you only want gaming videos to repeat while you watch, open a video in the playlist and turn on Loop in the playlist controls. YouTube documents repeat playback on computers, mobile devices, TVs, and gaming consoles. The control repeats playback for you; it does not make the channel live. Broadcasting prerecorded gameplay as a live stream
A creator who wants a 24/7 live broadcast must send video to YouTube Live continuously. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders for live streaming gameplay, and its encoder guidance includes a cloud service described as supporting continuous streams of prerecorded video. That establishes the workflow, not a way to turn every YouTube playlist into a live broadcast automatically. The encoder or service must provide the live feed.
What you need to set up
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s general guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days; the minimum age to livestream is 16. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Confirm the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance, since platform rules can change.
- Create the live stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Set up the broadcast there, then connect a software or hardware encoder, or a compatible cloud service. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover sharing a screen or broadcasting gameplay.
- Provide the video feed. For a prerecorded 24/7 channel, use a tool that can continuously send the intended videos as a live feed. A normal playlist playing in a browser is not, by itself, a YouTube Live broadcast.
- Plan for the stream archive separately. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a dependable recording, keep a local copy rather than relying on the live archive. Details are in YouTube’s archive guidance.
Rights, policy, and monetization
Make sure the content is cleared for streaming
You need the rights to use the gameplay footage and any music or other third-party material in a live broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even if you have a licence, the rights owner may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and its playlist policy.

Do not assume a gameplay loop will be monetized
Gameplay monetization depends on the game publisher’s commercial-use terms. YouTube says extended gameplay without commentary may not be accepted for monetization; instructional or educational commentary connected to the action may qualify under the conditions in its video game and software content guidance. Separately, monetized channel content must be original and authentic: repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible under YouTube’s channel monetization policies. A continuous loop is not a promise of revenue.

Common problems and what to check
- The channel is not actually live: repeating a playlist only changes viewer playback. Check that an encoder or cloud service is sending a feed to the YouTube Live broadcast.
- Live streaming is unavailable: check verification, recent live-streaming restrictions, age eligibility, and whether first-time activation is still pending in YouTube’s eligibility guidance.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced: check for copyrighted music, footage, or other third-party material and confirm the necessary rights. A licence may not prevent a Content ID interruption unless the channel is allowlisted.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: a broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a separate recording if you need an archive.
- Monetization is rejected: check the publisher’s commercial-use terms and YouTube’s rules on extended gameplay, originality, and repetitive or mass-produced content. A live loop does not guarantee eligibility.
