Yes. You can broadcast a music channel continuously on YouTube by sending a live feed from an encoder, but a 24/7 broadcast is not the same as a reliably saved 24-hour replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Before going live, check that your channel is eligible, confirm rights for every recording and composition, and decide how you will handle recording and recovery.
What you need before starting a 24/7 music stream
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- An encoder that can send your audio and video to YouTube. It can be software or dedicated hardware; YouTube does not require expensive equipment. Its encoder setup guide describes the workflow.
- A reliable source playlist, power, internet connection, encoder supervision and a plan to recover if the feed stops. The reliability design depends on your setup; YouTube does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 service.
- Permissions that cover the music and intended use. A track being available online or labelled “free” is not by itself proof that you may livestream it.
Set up the YouTube live feed
- Check eligibility. Verify the channel and confirm that it has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- Create or select a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create a stream or select an existing one. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current Studio interface.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the encoder’s server and key fields. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Start the encoder and verify the result. Check the YouTube preview or watch page, then listen and watch for missing audio, distortion, frozen video or other problems. If recording locally, confirm that the archive file is growing.
- Plan for continuous operation. Arrange a dependable playback source, power and network; decide who or what will monitor the encoder; and prepare a recovery process. A working start-up test is not a guarantee that the stream will stay online indefinitely.
Choose software or hardware encoding
| Option | What it means | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | An encoding program runs on a computer and sends the feed to YouTube. | Uses the computer’s resources and depends on that computer, its power and its connection staying available. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | A purpose-built device sends the feed to YouTube. | May suit a dedicated installation, but adds a hardware purchase and does not remove the need for a reliable connection, monitoring or rights clearance. |
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming but does not require a particular encoder or dedicated hardware. Choose based on the setup you can maintain; neither choice makes a 24/7 stream immune to outages.

Will YouTube save a 24-hour livestream?
Do not count on YouTube creating a complete replay of a 24-hour transmission. YouTube’s guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The 12-hour threshold is operational guidance, not a promise about how an individual stream will be processed. See YouTube’s livestream archive guidance.
If you need a replay, record locally and confirm the recording is actually being written. Decide in advance whether to stop and divide the broadcast into shorter streams or publish a separate recording. YouTube’s guidance does not prescribe a universal restart schedule; choose one that fits your continuity needs and test it before relying on it.

Check music rights before you go live
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of the live content, including music rights involving artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. The permissions needed depend on the tracks, recordings, territories, use and license terms. YouTube’s terms are not a track-specific legal opinion, so verify the actual license with the rights holder or a qualified adviser when anything is unclear. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
Clear both the composition and the recording
For each item in the rotation, identify the musical composition and the sound recording where relevant. Confirm that your permissions cover livestreaming on YouTube, the territories in which the stream will be available, continuous use and commercial or monetized use if you plan to monetize. Keep copies of licenses and correspondence.

Account for Content ID
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may produce a warning, replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it or terminate it. Even licensed music can be interrupted if a rights owner using Content ID has not allowlisted your channel. Ask the owner or administrator to add your channel where applicable. An archived stream may also receive a Content ID claim after it ends. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright issues.
Content ID scanning is not proof that a use is licensed, and YouTube does not decide ownership disputes for you. Keep a fallback playlist of music whose permitted use is clear so you can respond to a claim without assuming that the platform’s scan settles the rights question.

Do not treat Creator Music as a live-stream license
YouTube’s Creator Music guidance says its tracks and revenue-sharing options apply to long-form uploaded videos, not live streams. Paid Creator Music licenses were deprecated on August 10, 2026; existing paid licenses remain in effect until their terms end and cannot be renewed under the existing terms. Neither the former paid licenses nor the remaining Creator Music routes make those tracks available for live use. Check YouTube’s Creator Music usage guidance and its Creator Music licensing update.
Use library music only within its terms
YouTube identifies its Audio Library as a source of music, but you still need to follow each track’s applicable license conditions. Third-party “free music” labels do not prevent claims or establish that a track is cleared for a continuous livestream. Review YouTube’s Audio Library guidance and retain the relevant license information.

Quick Recap
Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream problems
- YouTube does not accept the feed: Check that live streaming is enabled, use the current stream URL and key from the selected Studio stream, and confirm that the encoder has the correct server and key fields.
- The stream appears offline or has no sound: Check that the encoder is sending to the intended stream, inspect the YouTube preview, and verify the playback source and audio path. If you record locally, confirm the file is growing.
- The live feed is interrupted after music plays: Review YouTube’s notification and Content ID information. Confirm that your license covers live use and ask the rights owner about channel allowlisting; a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
- The 24-hour replay is missing or incomplete: A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be archived. Keep a local recording and use a deliberate stop-and-divide or separate-publication plan if a replay matters.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: Check power, network, source playback and encoder status, then restart the feed using the correct stream details. For continuous operation, arrange monitoring and a tested recovery procedure rather than assuming the encoder will recover by itself.
