Not automatically. YouTube describes Audio Library music as copyright-safe for videos, but its public guidance does not expressly confirm that every track may be played continuously in a 24/7 livestream or included in its archive. Before using a track, check its displayed license and confirm it covers live transmission, repeated playback, and the archived replay.
What YouTube’s Audio Library guidance does—and doesn’t—say
YouTube describes the Audio Library in YouTube Studio as a catalog of royalty-free production music and sound effects for videos. It says that music from the library is copyright-safe, and that YouTube Partner Program creators can monetize videos that use it. YouTube also says Audio Library downloads will not be claimed by a rights holder through Content ID.

Those statements are useful, but the guidance addresses videos generally. It does not specifically settle whether a particular track’s license permits round-the-clock live playback, repeated loops, or the resulting livestream archive. A library label by itself is not confirmation of those separate uses.
Why a livestream has a separate rights requirement
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the creator to have all necessary rights for live content, including music licensing and public performance rights. The terms also apply to archived live content under the applicable agreement. In practical terms, permission to use music in a video does not necessarily answer whether you may transmit it live or keep the replay available.

Keep these permissions questions distinct:
- Live transmission: Does the track’s license allow it to be broadcast in a livestream?
- Continuous or repeated playback: Does it allow the track to be looped or played as part of an always-on stream?
- Archive: Does permission also cover the saved livestream replay?
- Attribution and monetization: Are there credit requirements or restrictions that apply to your use and channel?
Check the license for the specific track
- Open YouTube Studio’s Audio Library and review the license information displayed for the track you intend to use. Do not assume every track has the same terms.
- Check attribution requirements. If the track uses a Creative Commons license, YouTube says the artist must be credited in the video description. Tracks under the standard Audio Library license can be filtered as “Attribution not required.” Follow the terms shown for the individual track.
- Confirm the scope of permission. Look for explicit coverage of live streaming, continuous or repeated playback, and archived replays. If the displayed terms do not answer those points, seek track-specific confirmation rather than treating the Audio Library designation as a substitute.
- Keep a record. Save the track’s identifying details, the license information shown when you selected it, any required attribution, and any confirmation you receive. This can help you respond if a rights question arises.
- Review monetization separately. YouTube’s statement that YPP creators can monetize videos using Audio Library tracks is general video guidance; it does not specifically decide every 24/7 livestream setup.
How the alternatives differ
| Music source | What YouTube’s guidance establishes | What to verify for a 24/7 stream |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Audio Library | YouTube calls its music copyright-safe for videos and says YPP creators can monetize videos using it. | Whether the specific track permits live transmission, continuous playback, and the archive; check attribution terms too. |
| Creator Music | YouTube says its licensing does not currently support live content; revenue-share track requirements also exclude livestreams. | Do not treat a Creator Music license or revenue-share arrangement as permission for livestream use. |
| Other royalty-free or paid libraries | Permissions depend on the actual provider and license. YouTube cautions that music described as “free” elsewhere can still trigger Content ID. | Confirm live, repeated, archived, attribution, and monetization terms in the actual license. |
| Original music or music used with direct permission | YouTube identifies original music and music used with permission as copyright-safe options. | Make sure the rights you own or were granted include livestream transmission and the archived replay. |
If the track’s terms are unclear
Do not assume that “royalty-free,” “free,” or “copyright-safe for videos” necessarily means licensed for an uninterrupted live broadcast. Choose a track whose terms clearly cover the intended use, obtain confirmation from the relevant rights holder or licensing provider, or use music for which you control the necessary rights. YouTube’s own guidance cautions that it cannot determine your legal rights for you; seek qualified legal advice if the scope remains uncertain.
