Yes—if you download the maps, music, or books you need before you lose internet access. Offline access depends on the app and the content: a saved map may still have navigation limits, while a song or ebook that is only listed in your online library may not be stored on your phone.

Download over Wi-Fi or another reliable connection, check the app’s downloaded indicator, and make sure there is enough free storage. Then open the downloaded content before leaving coverage so you can confirm it is available on your device.

Can I use Google Maps without data?
Yes, for driving when you have downloaded an area that contains the entire route. Google says an offline map can guide you when the connection is slow or unavailable if the whole route falls within that map. Offline downloads may not be available in some countries or regions.
Download an area in Google Maps on Android
- Open Google Maps while connected to the internet.
- Tap your profile picture or initial, then choose Offline maps.
- Choose an area to download and adjust the map selection so it covers the route you expect to travel.
- Tap Download and wait for the download to finish before losing connectivity.
Google Maps offline driving does not include traffic information or alternate routes. Google lists transit, walking, and cycling directions as unavailable offline. If the trip goes beyond the downloaded area, do not rely on offline navigation for the full route.

Can Apple Maps work without internet?
Apple Maps supports offline maps on iPhone with iOS 17 or later, in selected areas. You can choose an area through a search, a dropped pin, or Offline Maps settings, then check its displayed file size before downloading. Apple says available features vary by country and region, and downloaded maps do not sync across devices.

Can I listen to downloaded music on a plane?
Yes, if the music is downloaded in the listening app before the flight. Spotify says downloaded music plays when the connection drops. You can also enable Offline Mode to limit playback to downloaded content. A track appearing in your library does not by itself confirm it is saved locally.
Spotify’s Premium feature page, accessed in 2026, says music downloads are a Premium feature, with a limit of up to 10,000 songs per device across up to five devices. Downloads need an online connection at least once every 30 days to stay active. Spotify recommends at least 1 GB of free storage for downloads. Yes. Google Play Books lets you download ebooks to Android phones and tablets, as well as iPhone and iPad, and read them offline. Download the books from your library while connected. On iPhone or iPad, use the same Google account associated with the library. Google says manga chapters are currently unavailable offline.

It depends on the size of the map areas, music, and books you save. Apple Maps displays a map’s file size before you download it, and Spotify recommends at least 1 GB free for downloads. Check available storage before saving content; an Android phone that supports removable storage may offer an SD-card option in some app configurations, but not every phone accepts a microSD card and app support varies.
