In India, Google Play supports UPI AutoPay for recurring subscriptions and specifically gives monthly YouTube Premium as an example. You can use it if your YouTube membership checkout is billed through Google Play and shows UPI AutoPay as a payment option. That option is not established for every account or signup route, so check the payment methods in your own membership flow.
“YouTube streaming server subscription” does not appear to be the name of a separate YouTube product in the official help material. If you mean the recurring subscription for ad-free YouTube viewing, downloads and other membership benefits, the relevant service is YouTube Premium.

When UPI AutoPay is available
Google Play Help’s India payment-method guidance explicitly describes UPI AutoPay for recurring subscriptions, including monthly YouTube Premium. The billing route matters: YouTube says new Premium and Music Premium subscribers who signed up on Android have been billed through Google Play since 2022. That does not mean every subscriber, device, or signup route will get the same checkout choices.
Start in YouTube Premium’s membership or payment flow and check whether Google Play is handling the subscription and whether UPI AutoPay appears among the payment options. If both are shown, you can authorize a recurring UPI mandate. If they are not, the sources do not establish that you can force Google Play billing or switch an existing membership to it.

Set up the UPI AutoPay mandate
- Open your YouTube Premium membership flow. Review the billing route and available payment methods before proceeding. If the flow indicates Google Play billing and offers UPI AutoPay, continue; otherwise, do not assume the option can be added separately.
- Select UPI AutoPay and choose your UPI app. Follow the authorization prompt in that app.
- Review the mandate before approving it. Confirm the amount, monthly frequency, and any duration shown, then authorize it using the instructions in your UPI app.
- Keep the confirmation. Check the subscription and mandate details in the relevant account or UPI app so you know which payment arrangement is active.
Google Play’s example confirms the monthly YouTube Premium use case, but it does not promise that every person will see the same price or options. The amount and schedule presented in your own checkout are the ones to verify.
How UPI AutoPay authorization and cancellations work
Google Pay Help says a UPI AutoPay mandate defines the amount, frequency, or duration of recurring payments; monthly is one of the available frequencies. For recurring payments below ₹15,000, Google says the UPI PIN is required when setting up the mandate. For payments above ₹15,000, PIN approval is required for each payment. These are the thresholds described in Google Pay’s current help guidance, accessed on 2026-10-03.

Google Pay also says it notifies users within 24 hours before a bank debit. You can revoke a mandate; after revocation, the merchant cannot debit your account under that mandate. Revoking the payment mandate and cancelling the YouTube membership are distinct actions: use YouTube’s membership controls to confirm the subscription itself is cancelled, rather than relying only on stopping future UPI debits.
What changes if you subscribed another way?
YouTube’s membership help says payment preferences should be managed through the membership, and notes that signups through the iOS app are managed through iTunes. Its guidance does not guarantee that every existing member can change billing routes or select Google Play later. For an existing membership, check the payment and billing controls actually shown for that account before changing anything.
Google’s separate India guidance on card e-mandates is not the same as the Google Play UPI AutoPay example. YouTube may prompt some users to move to a prepaid plan when their card does not support automatic payments. That card guidance should not be read as proof that UPI AutoPay is unavailable; the decisive check is whether the membership flow offers UPI AutoPay for your billing route.
