No—not locally, based on NVIDIA’s announcement available on October 13, 2026. The Hogwarts Legacy DLSS 5 update is scheduled for November 5, 2026, and NVIDIA names GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards as the local PC platform. AMD and Intel GPUs are not listed as compatible. GeForce NOW is also named, but that is cloud rendering: the game runs on NVIDIA’s remote hardware rather than using DLSS 5 on your AMD- or Intel-powered PC.
If you own an AMD card, Hogwarts Legacy does have an AMD FSR path, including FSR Frame Generation according to AMD’s supported-games listing. FSR and DLSS 5 are separate technologies, however, and FSR support does not unlock NVIDIA’s neural-rendering feature.

The short answer: local AMD and Intel support is not announced
NVIDIA’s October 13, 2026 announcement says, “NVIDIA DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering is coming to Hogwarts Legacy on November 5th, for GeForce RTX 50 Series, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark.” For a Windows PC running the game locally, the only GPU family explicitly named is GeForce RTX 50 Series.

That wording matters. It does not say that Radeon, Arc, or other AMD and Intel graphics cards can run DLSS 5. It also does not provide an Intel or AMD compatibility matrix, a list of individual RTX 50 models, or final PC requirements for the update. Until NVIDIA or the game’s developer publishes broader support, treat DLSS 5 as an RTX 50-class local feature.

What DLSS 5 does in this game
It is a neural-rendering stage, not simply a new upscaler
NVIDIA describes DLSS 5 as 3D-Guided Neural Rendering. The game supplies a rendered frame and scene information, and the neural-rendering stage applies changes to lighting and materials. NVIDIA places this work at the final stage of the graphics pipeline and says developers retain controls over the integration.
NVIDIA distinguishes this system from other DLSS technologies that reconstruct scene data, generate additional frames, or improve ray-traced lighting. Therefore, enabling an ordinary spatial upscaler, frame-generation option, or ray-tracing enhancement in Hogwarts Legacy should not be described as enabling DLSS 5. The game must receive the specific DLSS 5 implementation, and the rendering hardware must be an officially supported route.
Vendor figures are model claims, not Hogwarts Legacy requirements
For the October model update, NVIDIA reports roughly 118 million parameters, 20% lower 4K VRAM use than the previous version, and half the GPU overhead of the September version while maintaining comparable visual fidelity. These are NVIDIA’s own comparisons of the model update. They are not an independent Hogwarts Legacy benchmark, a minimum VRAM requirement, or proof that a particular RTX 50 card will achieve a specified frame rate.
Hogwarts Legacy has sold more than 40 million copies, according to NVIDIA’s October announcement. That is NVIDIA’s figure rather than an independently audited sales number; it explains the game’s significance in the announcement but does not change hardware compatibility.

Why an AMD FSR option is not DLSS 5 compatibility
What AMD’s listing establishes
AMD’s supported-games page lists Hogwarts Legacy under games with FSR Frame Generation. That establishes an AMD-supported feature path for the title, subject to the particular FSR technology, driver, game build and hardware involved. It does not mean every Radeon GPU supports every FSR feature, and it does not imply that an Intel GPU receives the same feature set.
How FSR and DLSS 5 differ
FSR is AMD’s family of image-reconstruction and frame-generation technologies. DLSS 5 is NVIDIA’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering system. They may appear in the same game’s graphics settings, but they are not interchangeable switches. Selecting FSR Frame Generation cannot make the game call DLSS 5, and installing an NVIDIA feature update cannot turn FSR into DLSS.
On an AMD system, use the FSR options exposed by your game version and driver, then judge image quality, latency and stability for your own hardware. Do not expect the exact lighting treatment, performance characteristics or artifact profile described for DLSS 5.
Can GeForce NOW let an AMD or Intel PC use DLSS 5?
Possibly as a cloud-service experience, but the announcement does not provide enough information to promise it. GeForce NOW is one of the routes NVIDIA names for Hogwarts Legacy DLSS 5. In that arrangement, a remote NVIDIA server renders the game and streams the resulting video to your computer. Your local Radeon, Arc or integrated graphics processor is handling the stream display and input, not executing DLSS 5 inside a local copy of the game.

- This edition of Hogwarts Legacy has been enhanced for Nintendo Switch 2, including Joy-Con 2 mouse sensor support, improved graphics, audio, load times, and controls.
- Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. Take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world.
- Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it. Live the Unwritten.
NVIDIA’s announcement does not state which GeForce NOW membership tier will be required, where the feature will be available, what streaming resolution or frame rate will be offered, or what client hardware and connection conditions will apply. Those details can vary by country and change after launch.
What to verify before relying on the cloud route
- Check the GeForce NOW service page for your country after the November 5 update, and confirm that Hogwarts Legacy is listed with DLSS 5 enabled rather than merely playable.
- Read the current plan description for any GPU, resolution, session-length or feature restrictions.
- Confirm that your operating system, supported browser or native client and network connection meet the service’s current requirements.
- Test latency and image quality during your normal playing hours. Cloud rendering can work on a modest local GPU, but stream responsiveness depends on the route between you and the data center.
GeForce NOW availability is therefore a separate question from whether an AMD or Intel GPU can run DLSS 5 locally. It can provide access to a remote feature without adding local driver or hardware compatibility.
What about RTX 40 Series cards?
A surfaced NVIDIA FAQ search snippet says NVIDIA plans to work on GeForce RTX 40 Series support after tuning performance on RTX 50 Series. The snippet gives no release date and says nothing about AMD or Intel compatibility. Treat it as an intention, not a launch commitment.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDo not assume that an RTX 40 card will support the Hogwarts Legacy update on November 5 simply because it is an RTX card. Wait for an official compatibility statement or an actual game update that identifies RTX 40 support. The same caution applies to laptop variants, lower-power implementations and systems with unusual driver or VRAM configurations.

What to do when the update is released
The scheduled date is November 5, 2026. Because it is a future release date in the announcement, the safest procedure is to verify the shipped implementation rather than relying on preview wording.
- Update Hogwarts Legacy through your game launcher after the release is available in your region.
- Install the graphics driver recommended by the game publisher or NVIDIA for the update. Record the previous driver version so you can roll back if a new driver causes instability.
- Open the game’s display and graphics menus and look for a specifically labelled DLSS 5 or 3D-Guided Neural Rendering option. Do not treat a generic DLSS, upscaling or frame-generation entry as proof that DLSS 5 is active.
- Check whether the option appears only when the game detects an officially supported RTX 50 Series GPU. If it is absent on an AMD or Intel system, that is consistent with the current announcement.
- Apply one change at a time, restart the game if requested, and compare image quality and frame pacing at the same resolution and ray-tracing settings.
- If the game crashes or renders incorrectly, disable the new option, verify the game files, and consult the current publisher and GPU-driver support notes. Do not force an unsupported feature through configuration edits unless an official support article documents the procedure.
Should you buy a new GPU for DLSS 5?
The announcement alone is not enough to justify a purchase. It names a platform family but supplies no complete system requirements, model-by-model compatibility table, independent performance tests or price-to-performance comparison. A purchase decision should account for all the games you play, your monitor resolution, ray-tracing use, power supply, case clearance, cooling and budget—not just one announced rendering feature.
| Your situation | Most defensible choice before November 5 | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You already own an AMD GPU | Use the game’s available FSR options and wait for confirmed DLSS 5 information | AMD FSR support is documented; local DLSS 5 support is not |
| You already own an Intel GPU | Use the features exposed by your game and driver, or investigate cloud play | No Intel DLSS 5 support is announced, and no exact Intel matrix is provided |
| You own an RTX 50 Series card | Install the update and verify the in-game option after release | RTX 50 is the named local family, but final requirements still matter |
| You own an RTX 40 Series card | Wait for an explicit support announcement | NVIDIA has mentioned future work without a date or guarantee |
| You mainly want to play on an older PC | Check GeForce NOW terms and local availability | Cloud rendering may avoid local GPU compatibility, but service details are unspecified |
Common misunderstandings and how to avoid them
- “The game has FSR, so it has DLSS 5.” No. AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS 5 are different technologies.
- “GeForce NOW support means my AMD card runs DLSS 5.” No. The remote server performs the rendering; your computer receives a video stream.
- “Any RTX card is automatically supported.” NVIDIA currently names RTX 50 Series. RTX 40 support is only described as planned future work.
- “Lower advertised VRAM use proves my GPU meets the requirement.” The 20% figure is NVIDIA’s model comparison at 4K, not a game minimum or a hardware recommendation.
- “A mod can add official support.” A third-party workaround, if one appears, would not establish NVIDIA or the developer’s compatibility, support or image-quality guarantees.
- “The November 5 date guarantees every region receives the same build immediately.” It is the scheduled date in NVIDIA’s announcement; launcher rollout and service availability can still vary.
Bottom line for AMD and Intel owners
As of October 13, 2026, you cannot count on running DLSS 5 locally in Hogwarts Legacy on an AMD or Intel GPU. The announced local route is GeForce RTX 50 Series, with GeForce NOW and RTX Spark named as additional platform routes. AMD users can use the game’s documented FSR Frame Generation path, while Intel users should wait for explicit support information or consider cloud play. Recheck official release notes after November 5, 2026, because NVIDIA has not yet published final AMD, Intel, RTX 40, GeForce NOW plan or regional details.
