Fortnite Festival runs inside Fortnite on all four platforms, yet guitar-controller support is platform-specific. Epic lists selected PlayStation guitars for PS4/PS5, Xbox guitars for Xbox consoles, and certain Xbox guitars for Windows PC. Its detailed table does not list a Switch guitar controller. You can still play Pro Lead and Pro Bass everywhere with keyboard and mouse or a standard controller.
What the answer means in practice
There are two separate questions: whether Fortnite Festival is available on a platform, and whether a physical guitar peripheral is recognized for the Pro Lead and Pro Bass parts. Fortnite is downloadable on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, so Festival is available on each of them. That availability does not make one guitar universally interchangeable.

Epic’s detailed guitar list was published with the Festival Season 3 launch in April 2024. Epic’s May 2024 v30.00 update added broader input options, and the current Player Support description still refers generally to keyboard, mouse, controller and guitar inputs without publishing a newer model-by-model matrix. Treat the table below as Epic’s named compatibility list from that update, not as a guarantee that every later hardware revision, firmware version or unofficial adapter has been tested.

Officially listed guitar support by platform
| Platform | Guitars named by Epic | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 | PlayStation RIFFMASTER; Rock Band 4 Rivals Fender Jaguar for PS4; Rock Band 4 Fender Stratocaster for PS4 | Use the PlayStation version of the peripheral. The PlayStation RIFFMASTER is designed for PS4/PS5 use; the listed Fender models are PS4 versions. |
| Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S | Xbox RIFFMASTER; Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Jaguar; Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Stratocaster | Epic lists these Xbox models for both Xbox console generations. Match an Xbox guitar to an Xbox console rather than a PlayStation model. |
| Windows PC | Xbox RIFFMASTER; Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Jaguar; Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Stratocaster | Epic specifies Microsoft’s Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 for the two Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender models. The table lists the Xbox RIFFMASTER for PC without that adapter note. |
| Nintendo Switch | No model listed | Epic’s reviewed compatibility table does not confirm a Switch guitar controller. That omission is not proof that every unofficial adapter or configuration is impossible; it means there is no official model confirmation in the cited list. |
The safest buying rule is to identify the platform label before paying. A PlayStation guitar is not automatically an Xbox or PC guitar, and an Xbox One wireless guitar may need additional PC hardware even though the same game is installed on both systems.

Which guitar should you choose?
PlayStation: select the PlayStation edition
For a PS4 or PS5, Epic names the PlayStation RIFFMASTER and two PS4 Fender guitars from Rock Band 4. A product page for the PlayStation RIFFMASTER states compatibility with PS5, PS4, Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4, and lists a wireless dongle and charging cable in the box. Confirm that the listing says PlayStation before ordering; an Xbox-branded version uses a different console ecosystem.
Xbox: use an Xbox-compatible model
On Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, Epic lists the Xbox RIFFMASTER plus the Xbox One Fender Jaguar and Stratocaster. The table associates those Fender instruments with Xbox One hardware and includes them for the Series consoles as well. Check the exact model and connection method, particularly when buying used equipment, because a guitar that was sold for PlayStation is not the same supported variant.

PC: account for the wireless adapter
Epic’s PC entries are the Xbox RIFFMASTER and the two Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender guitars. For the Fender models, Epic explicitly requires Microsoft’s Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10. That requirement is separate from Fortnite itself: installing the game or connecting a normal Xbox controller does not supply the adapter needed by those guitars. The Xbox RIFFMASTER appears in Epic’s PC list without the adapter qualification, but you should still follow the connection instructions supplied with the specific unit.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSwitch: do not buy on the assumption of official support
Epic’s published matrix contains no Switch guitar entry. Consequently, there is no officially confirmed guitar model to recommend for Switch on the evidence available here. Unofficial adapters, legacy instruments and community workarounds may exist, but their behavior can depend on firmware, mappings and adapter support, and they are outside Epic’s named compatibility list. If a physical guitar is essential, choose a platform for which Epic lists a matching model rather than assuming a Switch setup will work.

How to play Pro Lead and Pro Bass without a guitar
A guitar is optional. Epic specifically says Pro Lead and Pro Bass can be played on any console platform or PC without a supported guitar controller. The v30.00 update added keyboard-and-mouse keybinds for fretting and strumming. Epic also documents standard controller input, controller-to-keyboard remapping and accessibility devices that produce the same inputs.
Keyboard and mouse
On PC, open Fortnite’s settings and assign the Festival fretting and strumming actions to keys that are comfortable for your hand. The precise labels can change with interface updates, so look for the Pro Lead or Pro Bass control entries rather than assuming the default keys. A keyboard setup gives access to the same song parts without buying or pairing a guitar.
Rank #4
Standard controller
On console, or on PC with a gamepad, use Fortnite’s controller settings to map the Festival actions. Epic lists controller input as a supported category alongside guitar controllers. This is the simplest route when a player wants the Pro parts but does not need a physical neck and strum bar.
Accessibility devices and remapping
Epic’s update explains that controller-to-keyboard remapping and accessibility devices can use the relevant Festival inputs. This can help players build a control layout around their mobility, switch access or other hardware needs. The important distinction is that the game is accepting the required input signals; it does not require the signal to come from a branded guitar shell.

How to set up a listed guitar
- Verify the platform version. Read the label on the box or instrument. Choose PlayStation for PS4/PS5, Xbox for Xbox consoles, or an Xbox-listed model for Windows PC. Do not rely on a similar-looking shell or a generic “wireless guitar” description.
- Check the PC accessory requirement. If you are using an Xbox One Rock Band 4 Fender Jaguar or Stratocaster on Windows 10, obtain Microsoft’s Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 as specified in Epic’s table. The Xbox RIFFMASTER is listed for PC without that note.
- Connect the hardware before launching a song. Pair the guitar or attach its wireless receiver according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then confirm that the operating system or console sees the device. A powered-on instrument that is not paired will not appear as a usable Festival input.
- Start Fortnite and enter Festival. Open Fortnite, select Festival, and choose a Main Stage song that offers Pro Lead or Pro Bass. The Pro parts are the modes that use the guitar-style fretting and strumming controls.
- Test the controls in the song interface. Check that fret buttons and the strum control produce input before beginning a full performance. If the game responds as a normal controller instead, review the pairing and platform version rather than changing random keybinds.
- Keep firmware and batteries ready. Use the instrument maker’s current setup guidance, charge the guitar where applicable, and keep the wireless receiver within range. Epic’s list establishes supported models, not a guarantee that a depleted battery, damaged receiver or outdated firmware will work.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The guitar is not detected on PC
- Confirm that the instrument is an Xbox RIFFMASTER or one of the two Xbox One Fender models named by Epic for PC.
- For either Fender model, verify that the Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is connected and recognized. A Bluetooth connection or a generic USB cable is not the adapter requirement Epic specifies.
- Pair the guitar with the adapter before opening Fortnite, then restart the game if the input was connected after launch.
- Test the adapter and guitar outside the song screen to determine whether the issue is operating-system pairing or Festival mapping.
The guitar works on one console but not another
- Check the platform family printed on the guitar. PlayStation and Xbox editions are distinct.
- On PlayStation, use one of Epic’s PlayStation entries; on Xbox, use an Xbox entry. A console generation upgrade does not make the opposite platform’s instrument compatible.
- Reconnect the receiver or wireless dongle and make sure the guitar is assigned to the intended player profile.
The song offers no Pro part
Pro Lead and Pro Bass are song-specific parts. A recognized guitar does not turn every available Festival chart into a Pro chart. Choose a track and mode that actually exposes Pro Lead or Pro Bass, then test the instrument there.
A Switch player wants guitar-style controls
Because Epic’s table does not confirm a Switch guitar, use keyboard/mouse where available, a standard controller, or an accessibility/remapping setup supported by the game. Do not interpret successful game access on Switch as confirmation that a physical guitar peripheral is supported.
What to check before buying
- Platform and generation: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series, or Windows PC must match the model’s stated compatibility.
- Included receiver: confirm whether a wireless dongle is supplied, especially for a used instrument or a PlayStation RIFFMASTER package.
- PC adapter: budget and locate the Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 when choosing either Xbox One Fender guitar for PC.
- Condition: inspect the strum bar, fret buttons, battery compartment, wireless receiver and charging cable on second-hand units.
- Game mode: buy for Pro Lead and Pro Bass, not merely because the instrument works with another rhythm game. Epic’s list is specific to Festival’s named models and platforms.
- Switch expectations: if Switch is the only target platform, treat any unlisted guitar as an unconfirmed experiment rather than a supported purchase.
How Epic’s statements should be read today
Epic’s April 2024 Season 3 announcement said that Rock Band 4 guitar controllers could be used for Pro Lead and Pro Bass on the Main Stage on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Its May 2024 v30.00 update separately stated that players could play those parts on any console platform or PC without a supported guitar controller. Those statements explain both the platform-specific guitar list and the broader no-guitar option.

The current support article keeps the input categories general and does not provide a newer, detailed list of every guitar model. Therefore, the responsible answer in 2026 is to use the named 2024 models as the official reference while acknowledging that the available documentation does not reconfirm every hardware revision, adapter, firmware release or unofficial Switch arrangement.
Bottom line for each platform
| If you play on | Best-supported approach |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 4/5 | Use a PlayStation RIFFMASTER or one of Epic’s listed PS4 Fender guitars. |
| Xbox One/Series X|S | Use the Xbox RIFFMASTER, Xbox One Fender Jaguar or Xbox One Fender Stratocaster listed by Epic. |
| Windows PC | Use the Xbox RIFFMASTER, or an Xbox One Fender model with Microsoft’s Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10. |
| Nintendo Switch | Play Festival with a standard controller or other supported input; Epic’s published list does not confirm a guitar controller. |
Choose a physical guitar only when its platform label and connection requirements match your system. Otherwise, Fortnite Festival still provides the Pro Lead and Pro Bass experience through keyboard, mouse, controller or supported accessibility inputs.
