Sometimes, but PlayStation does not guarantee that a foreign credit card will work on a UAE PlayStation Store account. A card registered to an address in a different country from the account’s Store region may not link, and Sony says it may verify the account’s country of residence against the card number. If your card is declined, use a payment option or voucher that matches the UAE account.
Why a foreign card may not work
The deciding issue is not just whether your card is a Visa, Mastercard or American Express. PlayStation says a card registered to an address in a different country from the PlayStation Store region may not link. Its March 2026 terms also say the account’s country or area of residence may be checked using the payment card number and rejected if the details do not match.

That is a possibility, not a blanket statement that every card issued abroad is blocked. The UAE Store payment list names supported networks and services, but does not promise that every foreign-issued card will be accepted. PlayStation’s general card troubleshooting guidance explains the address-region mismatch; it is hosted on the Singapore support site and is not a UAE-specific guarantee.

PlayStation lists these payment methods for the UAE Store. Availability of a method does not guarantee approval by the card issuer, payment provider or account.

The accepted methods are listed on PlayStation’s UAE accepted-payment page. PlayStation also recommends an alternative payment method or a Store voucher when a card cannot be used.
What to do if your card is declined
- Check whether the Store is available. PlayStation scheduled the UAE Store to be offline from October 5 through October 8, 2026, for its currency transition from US dollars to UAE dirhams. Purchases cannot be made while the Store is offline. Check the official currency-change notice for the current status before troubleshooting a payment failure.
- Confirm the account region and card details. Make sure you are using the UAE Store account and enter the card information as it appears on your bank statement. A card address in another country may prevent the card from linking.
- Check card and bank settings. Confirm online payments are enabled, the card type is supported, and the card has available funds. If the payment still fails, contact the card provider to ask whether it blocked the transaction.
- Choose another UAE-compatible route. Try another method listed by the UAE Store, such as PayPal or an eligible mobile payment, or redeem a voucher matched to the account’s country and currency.
Using gift cards during the USD-to-AED change
PlayStation’s notice says existing US-dollar PlayStation gift cards remain valid. Redemptions made after the maintenance is complete are converted to local currency at the stated rate of 1 USD = 4.00 AED. Because the maintenance window is dated October 5–8, 2026, check the notice for completion status and current redemption terms before buying or redeeming a code. For ordinary voucher use, match the voucher’s country and currency to the account.

Practical answer for a US card on a UAE account
A US-issued card might work, but the available PlayStation guidance does not confirm that it will. If the card’s registered address is in the United States while the account uses the UAE Store, the region mismatch can stop it from linking or lead to verification rejection. The most reliable next step is to try a payment method accepted for the UAE account or a correctly matched UAE Store voucher, rather than assuming that a card-network logo guarantees compatibility.
