Yes—if you have an Osmo Pocket 3. DJI documents a Webcam mode that sends the Pocket 3’s camera feed to a computer over USB-C. You connect the camera with a USB-C data cable, tap Webcam on its screen, then choose the DJI camera in a supported computer application.
That answer does not apply automatically to every Pocket model. DJI’s Pocket 2 documentation covers USB file transfer, while its current webcam compatibility guidance lists Pocket 3 but does not list Pocket 2. Treat Pocket 2 webcam use as undocumented by DJI rather than as a supported feature.

Which DJI Pocket cameras work as webcams?
The documented answer is model-specific. DJI’s official Osmo Pocket 3 guide says that “Osmo Pocket 3 can work as a webcam.” The camera uses USB Video Class (UVC), the standard used by many USB video devices, so a computer can receive its live image as a camera source after you select Webcam mode.
| Camera | DJI-documented webcam mode | Connection described by DJI | Practical interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Osmo Pocket 3 | Yes | USB-C connection followed by the Webcam command on the camera | Supported webcam workflow |
| DJI Pocket 2 | Not documented in the reviewed DJI webcam guidance | Type-C connection for viewing and exporting photos and videos | File transfer should not be treated as webcam support |
The distinction matters because plugging a camera into a computer does not by itself mean that the camera can provide a live video stream. Pocket 2’s documented computer connection is for accessing recorded media. DJI’s current webcam article names Pocket 3 among supported Osmo models but does not name Pocket 2.

What you need for a Pocket 3 webcam setup
- An Osmo Pocket 3 powered on and with sufficient battery for the session.
- A USB-C cable that supports data transfer, not only charging. DJI’s general instructions do not specify a particular cable model or data rate.
- A computer with a compatible operating system and an application that can select a camera source.
- The Pocket 3’s on-camera Webcam command, which must be selected after the USB connection is made.
You do not need to plan around an HDMI adapter for this setup. DJI says the Osmo devices covered by its guidance do not provide HDMI output and do not support a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter as an output method. The supported route is the camera’s USB webcam function.
How to connect an Osmo Pocket 3 as a webcam
- Power on the camera. Start the Osmo Pocket 3 normally and wait for its camera interface to appear.
- Connect the camera to the computer. Use the USB-C port and a USB-C data cable. A charge-only cable cannot carry the video connection required for webcam use.
- Choose Webcam on the Pocket 3 screen. The camera presents connection choices; tap Webcam. This selection changes the USB connection from ordinary media access to a live camera input.
- Open your meeting, recording or playback application. In the application’s camera or video settings, select the DJI camera if a source selector is available.
- Check the preview before going live. Confirm that the image is coming from the Pocket 3 rather than the computer’s built-in camera. If the application was already open when you connected the camera, reopening its camera settings—or restarting the application—can make it rescan available inputs.
DJI specifically lists VooV (Tencent) Meeting, OBS Studio and PotPlayer for Windows, and Photo Booth for macOS. That is DJI’s documented application list, not a promise that every video-call, recording or streaming program will recognize the camera. Applications differ in how they enumerate UVC devices and when they refresh their camera list.
Windows and macOS compatibility
Windows applications listed by DJI
On Windows, DJI’s webcam support article identifies VooV (Tencent) Meeting, OBS Studio and PotPlayer. In each application, look for its camera, video-input or capture-source selector and choose the Pocket 3 after Webcam mode is active. The exact menu wording belongs to the application and can change with an application update.
macOS applications listed by DJI
For macOS, DJI lists Photo Booth. DJI also states that Mac Pro and iMac use is supported for the listed devices, while MacBook support is qualified by a compatibility list and macOS version. A MacBook therefore needs more than a generic “Mac support” assumption: check DJI’s current compatibility information for the particular Mac and macOS release.
If the connection is unstable or the camera is not detected on a Mac, DJI recommends updating macOS when compatibility or malfunction issues occur. Apply the operating-system update that is appropriate for the computer, then reconnect the camera and select Webcam again.

The current Osmo webcam list is broader than Pocket cameras
DJI’s current webcam article lists these devices as able to work as computer webcams: Osmo Action 6, Osmo Action 5 Pro, Osmo Pocket 4, Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo Action 4, Osmo Action 3 and DJI Action 2. The list can change as DJI adds products or revises software support, so use DJI’s live webcam compatibility article when checking a newer model. Inclusion on that list still does not establish that every third-party application will recognize the device.
What settings are available in Webcam mode?
The Pocket 3 guide says Webcam mode exposes camera controls including exposure, white balance, focus mode and Glamour Effects. These controls let you adjust the look of the live feed from the camera rather than relying entirely on software controls in the computer application.

Use the exposure control when the subject is too dark or bright for the current scene. Changes are made on the Pocket 3, so set them before beginning a meeting or recording when possible.
White balance
White balance affects how the camera renders the color of the room and the subject. A stable setting can prevent the image from changing color when lighting in the room is mixed.
Focus mode
Choose the focus behavior that suits your framing. A fixed talking-head position may need different behavior from a demonstration in which you move an object toward the lens.

Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Recording while in Webcam mode
DJI says the Shutter/Record button can start recording in Webcam mode. After leaving Webcam mode, recorded video can be played back on the camera. Webcam mode is therefore not limited to sending an image to the computer, although the reviewed documentation does not state a maximum webcam resolution or frame rate.
Resolution and frame-rate expectations
Do not assume a particular webcam resolution or frame rate from the Pocket 3’s recording specifications. The Pocket 3 webcam guide reviewed for this article does not state an official webcam-mode maximum resolution or frame rate, and DJI’s compatibility article does not supply those figures either.
The practical result is that the application, operating system and UVC negotiation may determine the modes you can select. If an application shows several video modes, use the options it actually presents for the connected camera. Avoid treating a recording-mode specification as proof of an identical webcam output.
Pocket 2: what is and is not established
DJI’s Pocket 2 FAQ explains how to connect the camera to a computer by Type-C cable to view and export photos and videos. That is a media-transfer workflow. It does not describe selecting Webcam on the camera or presenting the Pocket 2 as a UVC camera.

DJI’s current Osmo webcam list includes Pocket 3 and does not include Pocket 2. The evidence therefore supports a narrow conclusion: DJI has not documented Pocket 2 webcam support in the sources considered here. It does not establish that every unofficial software or hardware workaround is impossible, but such a workaround would not be an officially documented setup. For a supported DJI workflow, use a model that DJI lists with Webcam mode.
Why HDMI adapters and capture cards are the wrong official workaround
Some camera setups send a live signal over HDMI to a capture device. DJI’s Osmo guidance says the relevant devices do not support HDMI output or a Type-C-to-HDMI adapter. Consequently, an HDMI adapter or capture card is not an official way to turn the Pocket 3 into a webcam.
For the Pocket 3, connect the camera directly to the computer over USB-C and activate Webcam mode. That path uses the camera’s documented UVC function and avoids implying that an unsupported HDMI signal exists.

The computer only charges the camera
Check the cable first. The cable must support data transfer. Replace a charge-only lead with a known USB-C data cable, reconnect the camera, and select Webcam on the camera screen.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe camera appears as storage instead of video
The Pocket 3 may still be in a normal USB connection mode. Disconnect and reconnect if necessary, then tap Webcam on the camera. File-transfer behavior and webcam behavior are different connection states.

Your application does not show the Pocket 3
Confirm that Webcam mode is active before opening the application’s camera menu. Then inspect the application’s video-source selector. DJI’s documented application list is limited, so an application that has no camera-source control or does not recognize every UVC device may not expose the Pocket 3.
The built-in camera remains selected
Open the application’s video settings and change the selected source to the DJI camera. Some software remembers the previous camera and does not switch automatically when a new device is connected.
A Mac connection is unreliable
Check the Mac model and macOS version against DJI’s current compatibility information. DJI recommends updating macOS when compatibility-related malfunctions occur. After updating, reconnect the Pocket 3, activate Webcam mode and test it in a DJI-listed application such as Photo Booth.
You are trying to use Pocket 2
Do not interpret Pocket 2’s Type-C file-export instructions as confirmation of webcam capability. DJI’s documented webcam guidance names Pocket 3, not Pocket 2. If webcam use is a requirement, choose a model with an explicitly documented Webcam mode.
Choosing a Pocket camera for webcam use
Use three comparison questions rather than guessing from a camera’s USB port:
- Does DJI document a webcam mode for the exact model? Pocket 3 passes this check; Pocket 2 is not documented in the reviewed guidance.
- What connection method does DJI specify? For Pocket 3, it is direct USB-C connection followed by Webcam selection.
- Does your computer and application match DJI’s support information? Windows support names VooV (Tencent) Meeting, OBS Studio and PotPlayer; macOS support names Photo Booth, with Mac model and macOS qualifications.
This approach is more reliable than comparing USB connectors or assuming that a camera capable of recording video can automatically act as a live UVC camera.
Bottom line for buyers and existing owners
An Osmo Pocket 3 can serve as a webcam through its documented USB-C Webcam mode: power it on, connect a data-capable cable, tap Webcam, and select the camera in a supported application. DJI does not publish a webcam resolution or frame-rate limit in the reviewed guide, so let the application report the modes available on your computer.
