Apple does not publish a self-service way to unblur a house in Apple Maps. You can ask Apple to review a blur through the same Maps or Image Collection privacy channels used for imagery requests, but Apple does not promise that a blurred home will be restored or give a standard completion time. If you want your own house hidden, Apple does document a request process.
What Apple Maps house blurring actually covers
The blur applies to Look Around, Apple Maps’ street-level panoramic imagery. Look Around is separate from the normal map, satellite view, property records and photographs published elsewhere. Apple says Look Around is not available in every country or region, so a house may be visible in one mapping product or location but absent from Look Around entirely.

Apple’s image-processing policy is broader than individual house requests. Before publishing imagery, Apple says it uses blurring technology so that faces and license plates are not identifiable. A homeowner can also ask Apple to obscure their own house. That request affects Apple’s published Look Around imagery; it does not physically change the property or remove information from other sources.
Can a blurred home be restored?
Apple clearly documents how to request a blur, but its public materials do not describe an unblur button, a dedicated reversal form or a guaranteed restoration procedure. That means you should not assume a blur is automatically permanent, but you also should not expect Apple to remove it on demand.

If a house was blurred by mistake, or the owner has changed their mind, contact Apple and ask for a review. Use the Maps reporting route or the Image Collection contact channel, identify the exact property and explain that you are requesting review of an existing house blur. Apple’s documentation does not promise approval, a particular decision, or a completion deadline, so any response is handled case by case.
The practical answer
- Want a blur? Apple provides a documented privacy-request path.
- Want a blur removed? Contact Apple through those privacy channels; no public self-service reversal is documented.
- Need a time estimate? Apple publishes no standard turnaround for restoring a house image.
How to ask Apple to blur your house
The request is made from the relevant Look Around imagery. Labels can vary by device or software version, but the workflow follows these steps.
- Open the property. Use Apple Maps or maps.apple.com, search for the address and enter Look Around if imagery is available. On a Mac, Apple says to select a location and click the Look Around button in the lower-left of the map.
- Open the imagery report control. While viewing the panorama, look for the option to report a problem or report imagery. Apple’s privacy documentation says Maps reports can include requests to blur Look Around imagery.
- Choose the privacy category. A current walkthrough identifies the labels “Privacy Concerns” and “Obscure imagery of my home.” Select the option referring to obscuring a home rather than a face, license plate or a general map error.
- Identify the location precisely. Confirm the street address and the portion of the panorama showing the house. Include any details Apple’s form requests so the review team can locate the correct image.
- Provide contact details and submit. The form may request an email address or Apple Account association. Review the information before sending the report and save any confirmation shown by the app or website.
If the in-product reporting control is missing, Apple’s Apple Maps Image Collection page says people may contact Apple to request that “your own house be blurred.” The contact address shown on Apple’s official Image Collection locations page is [email protected]. In an email, state that the request concerns your own house in Apple Maps Look Around and provide the complete address and a clear description of the imagery.

How to ask Apple to review or remove an existing blur
Use the same channels, but make the requested action unambiguous. Say that the property is already blurred and that you are asking whether Apple can restore the image. Include the address, the nearest recognizable intersection, the Look Around view or orientation if you can identify it, and your reason for requesting a review.

Do not describe the request as a demand for deletion of all information about the property. Apple’s published process concerns its imagery, not public records or every image of the building. A focused request gives Apple a better chance of finding the specific panorama you mean.
Information that helps locate the image
- Full street address, including city, state or province and country.
- A link or screenshot of the Apple Maps view, if the reporting form permits it.
- The side of the property shown and the approximate viewing direction.
- Whether the blur covers the entire house, a section of the facade or another structure.
- Your preferred reply address and, where relevant, the Apple Account used to submit the report.
Apple does not state that every request to reverse a blur will be accepted. Keep the submission factual and avoid sending sensitive documents unless Apple specifically asks for information needed to verify the request.
What happens to information in a Maps privacy report?
Apple says a report about blurring Look Around imagery may be associated with the reporter’s Apple Account or email address. The report can include the map view, zoom level, recent search term, location, viewing direction, comments and uploaded photos. Apple says some account-associated report data may be stored for up to two years to understand reporting trends and maintain service integrity.
That collection means a privacy request is not anonymous by default. Before submitting, check which fields are required and avoid adding unrelated personal information in comments or images. If several people in a household are involved, decide who should be the contact so duplicate requests do not create conflicting instructions.

How Apple handles unblurred image data
Apple’s Image Collection privacy document says faces and license plates are blurred before publication and that Apple does not share unblurred data with third parties. The same document explains that requests for access to or deletion of unblurred imagery are handled when the requester provides useful location information and, preferably, a 15-minute window for when the imagery was collected.
The 15-minute period is an operational aid for locating source data, not a promise that Apple will publish an unblurred view or restore a house. If you are asking about source imagery rather than the public Look Around panorama, provide the narrowest accurate time window you know. If you do not know when collection occurred, give the date range or event that helps Apple identify the drive.
Does a blur apply forever, and can Apple recapture the street?
Apple says it may periodically revisit and re-collect locations to keep Maps current. A blur request therefore applies to Apple’s published imagery, and a future collection may require Apple to maintain the privacy treatment again. Apple does not publish a universal expiration period for a house blur or a schedule for revisiting any particular address.

Conversely, an existing blur does not erase the property from the world. It does not remove satellite imagery, county or municipal records, real-estate listings, photographs posted by other people or imagery from unrelated services. If your concern is broad exposure, review those sources separately; an Apple Maps request addresses only Apple’s relevant imagery.

|---|---|---|---|
| You want your own house blurred | Look Around’s imagery-report control | Address, the specific panorama and requested contact details | Apple documents that a house-blur request can be submitted |
| The in-product control is unavailable | [email protected] | Full address, country or region, description of the Look Around image and contact email | Apple’s Image Collection page invites requests to blur your own house |

| You are asking about source, unblurred data | Apple’s Image Collection privacy contact process | Useful location details and preferably a 15-minute collection-time window | Apple says it handles access or deletion requests when it can identify the imagery |
Troubleshooting when the report option is missing
Look Around is not available
Look Around does not operate in every country or region. If there is no Look Around button or panorama for the address, there may be no Apple street-level image to report. Confirm the country or region supported by Apple Maps and try the web version at maps.apple.com as well as the app.
The panorama shows the wrong location
Move to the exact road segment and verify the street number before reporting. A nearby panorama can show a different building, and an imprecise report may delay review or affect the wrong image.
The form will not submit
Check that required contact fields are complete, remove unnecessary photo attachments and retry from the other Apple Maps interface. If the reporting control still fails, email [email protected] with the address and a concise description of the problem.
You received no immediate confirmation
Apple does not publish a standard completion time for house-blur or unblur requests. Keep the submission details and follow up through the same channel rather than creating multiple reports with different information.

House blur versus faces and license plates
These protections are related but not interchangeable. Apple’s publication policy automatically targets identifiable faces and license plates in collected imagery. A house blur is an additional request made for a specific property. Selecting the wrong category can send the report to the wrong workflow, so choose the home-privacy option when the building itself is the concern.
Likewise, asking Apple to restore a house does not request removal of automatic face or license-plate protections. Those remain part of Apple’s image-publication process.
Before you submit: a privacy-request checklist
- Confirm that the image is Apple Maps Look Around, not satellite imagery or a third-party photograph.
- Verify the complete address and country or region.
- Capture the panorama, orientation or nearby landmark that distinguishes the property.
- Choose “Privacy Concerns” and “Obscure imagery of my home” when those labels appear.
- State clearly whether you want a new blur, a review of an existing blur or information about source imagery.
- Provide only the contact and location information needed for Apple to act.
- If asking about unblurred source data, include a useful location description and, preferably, a 15-minute collection window.
- Save the confirmation or copy of your email so a follow-up uses the same details.
Bottom line on unblurring an Apple Maps house
Apple gives homeowners a documented way to request that their own house be blurred in Look Around. It does not provide a public, guaranteed method for reversing that decision. The appropriate response to an existing blur is to contact Apple through the Maps reporting or Image Collection privacy channels, identify the exact property and ask for a review. Apple may revisit and recapture streets, but its published materials do not promise that a blurred home will be restored, nor do they set a deadline for either outcome.
