Short answer: Sony’s current PlayStation PC guidance says you cannot transfer save data from the PS4 or PS5 version of a PlayStation Studios game to its PC version, or transfer a PC save back to a console. A PS4-to-PS5 transfer workflow does not change that. Sony also does not provide a universal, officially supported mod platform for its PC catalog. Ultrawide support is decided game by game: The Last of Us Part I supports 21:9 and 32:9 displays, while Horizon Forbidden West supports 21:9, 32:9 and 48:9 layouts, including triple-monitor setups.
Can a PS4 save be moved to a Sony PC remaster?
No. Sony’s current support policy states that “It is currently not possible to transfer your save data from the PS4 or PS5 version to the PC version of a PlayStation Studios title, or vice versa.” That applies even when the PC release is described as a remaster, when you own the same game on both platforms, or when the PC edition is purchased through Steam or another PC storefront.

In practical terms, buying a Sony PC remaster means starting a new save unless that individual game later announces its own import exception. Your console progress, unlocked upgrades, collectibles and completed chapters should not be assumed to appear on PC automatically.
Why PS4-to-PS5 transfer information is different
Sony documents transfers between consoles, such as PS4 to PS5 and PS5 to PS5. Depending on the game and your setup, that process can use a direct console transfer or a PlayStation Plus cloud download. Those instructions describe console-to-console migration only; they are not a route into the Windows version of a game.

- Vertical Stand sold seperately
A PlayStation Plus cloud save therefore does not become a PC save simply because the PC title uses the same account. Cloud storage and account ownership are separate from the game’s save format and the platform on which the save was created.
Are there exceptions?
Possibly, but only when the publisher or developer documents one for that specific title. Treat an exception as a special feature rather than a standard Sony capability. Look for an explicit import or cross-progression announcement on the game’s official PC page, support article or patch notes. Without that statement, plan on a fresh PC playthrough.
What to expect when you move from console to PC
Before buying a remaster, separate the things that can follow you from the things that cannot. Your PlayStation account, trophies and purchase history may remain visible to the relevant services, but that does not guarantee that the PC executable can read a PS4 save. The save-transfer policy concerns game progress, not whether you can sign into an account.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Progress: assume a new PC save unless a title-specific import is documented.
- Console cloud saves: useful for supported console transfers, but not a general PS4/PS5-to-PC bridge.
- Backups: copying a PS4 save to a USB drive does not make it readable by the PC edition.
- Cross-save claims: verify that the wording says “PC” and names the exact game; “PS4 to PS5” is a different feature.
A sensible pre-purchase check
- Open the game’s official PC product or support page.
- Search for “save transfer,” “cross-save,” “cross-progression” or “import.”
- Confirm which directions are supported. Some games, if they offer an exception, may allow one-way migration only.
- Check whether the statement applies to the remaster, rather than an older console edition or a sequel.
- If no explicit PC import path is listed, budget time for a new campaign.
Do Sony PC remasters officially support mods?
Sony does not advertise a universal official mod framework for its PlayStation Studios PC catalog in the cited support materials. Mod support is consequently a title-specific question, not a feature you can assume from the fact that a game runs on Windows.
What the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered license says
The Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Steam End User License Agreement says the license does not include the right to “modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software,” create derivative works, or “create or make available unauthorized mods” without express prior written consent. That language is a restriction in the game’s license, not an endorsement of a community mod ecosystem.
Read the license supplied with the exact edition you install. Terms can differ between products and can change when a publisher updates an agreement. A mod that exists online is not automatically authorized, safe or compatible with the current build.
Community mods are unofficial
Some PC releases may attract community-made trainers, texture replacements, accessibility tweaks or other modifications. Their existence does not mean Sony supports them. Unofficial files can conflict with one another, stop working after a game update, corrupt a save or trigger an online-service restriction where multiplayer or connected features are involved.
Use only files from sources you trust, keep an untouched backup of your saves and record which game version a mod requires. If a patch causes crashes, disable every mod before troubleshooting the unmodified game. Do not bypass copy protection, alter online services or redistribute game files; those actions can violate the applicable license and other rules.
What “official mod support” would look like
A genuine official program normally identifies supported tools, installation locations, permitted content and a way to report problems. Sony’s general PC guidance does not promise those capabilities across its catalog. Unless the individual game provides them, treat modding as unsupported experimentation with no guarantee of updates, customer service or save compatibility.
Which Sony PC remasters support 21:9, 32:9 or triple monitors?
Ultrawide compatibility varies by title. Check the exact PC feature list and graphics requirements before choosing a monitor or assuming that every Sony release will fill a wide screen correctly.
| Game | Documented display support | Save-transfer expectation | Mod position |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Last of Us Part I (PC) | True 4K and ultra-wide support for 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios | No general PS4/PS5-to-PC transfer under Sony’s current policy | No universal Sony mod framework stated; check the game’s license |
| Horizon Forbidden West (PC) | 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide and 48:9 resolutions, with triple-monitor compatibility | No general PS4/PS5-to-PC transfer under Sony’s current policy | No catalog-wide official framework stated; use title-specific terms |
| Other PlayStation Studios PC titles | Not stated here; verify the individual PC page | Assume no transfer unless an exception is documented | Not stated here; do not infer support from another game |
The Last of Us Part I
Sony’s PC page says: “PC players can fully immerse themselves in environments in stunning detail with true 4K resolutions with Ultra-Wide Monitor Support for both 21:9 Ultrawide and 32:9 Super Ultrawide aspect ratios.” That is explicit support for common 21:9 monitors and wider 32:9 super-ultrawide displays.

Horizon Forbidden West
Sony’s PC announcement states: “Gameplay is supported in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide and even 48:9 resolutions with compatibility for triple-monitor setups.” A 48:9 layout generally corresponds to three 16:9 panels arranged side by side, but your graphics card, connectors, operating-system display configuration and monitor bezels still have to support the combined output.
This is a gameplay-resolution statement. It should not be read as a promise that every launcher screen, video sequence or overlay uses the same layout. Check the game’s current settings and technical requirements before purchasing three displays specifically for it.

1. Save continuity
If continuing a PS4 campaign matters most, verify a documented import path first. Sony’s general policy currently rules out PS4/PS5-to-PC transfers, so the default choice is to replay the game on PC. A console-to-console transfer announcement is not evidence of PC support.
2. Mod policy
Look for an official toolset or explicit permission. If none is listed, distinguish between unsupported community files and an approved mod program. Read the license for the exact game, especially where it addresses reverse engineering, derivative works or unauthorized mods.
3. Display format
Match the game’s published resolutions to your monitor: 21:9 for a conventional ultrawide, 32:9 for a super-ultrawide and 48:9 for a three-screen span. Do not infer support for one title from another; the two documented examples above have different feature lists from an unspecified game.
4. PC features and hardware
Use the official PC page to check graphics settings, upscaling options, frame-rate modes, controller and keyboard support, storage requirements and GPU recommendations. Ultrawide rendering can increase the number of pixels the graphics card must draw, particularly at 32:9 or 48:9, so compare the recommended hardware with your target resolution rather than with a standard 16:9 benchmark.
Troubleshooting common assumptions
“I downloaded my PS4 save from the cloud, but the PC game cannot see it.”
That behavior is expected under Sony’s current policy. The cloud download supports documented console workflows; it does not convert a PS4 save into a PC save. Start a PC save or look for a game-specific import announcement.
“The game has mods online, so Sony must support them.”
Availability is not authorization. Check the game’s EULA and any official mod-tool documentation. Remove unofficial files when diagnosing crashes or update failures, and keep a clean save backup.
“My ultrawide monitor is not filling the screen.”
First confirm that the title lists your aspect ratio, then select the correct resolution in Windows and in the game. Update the graphics driver, verify that the display is connected to the GPU rather than an inactive motherboard output, and test the game without overlays or modifications. If the official feature list does not mention your ratio, black bars or a cropped image may be a title limitation rather than a monitor fault.
“Can I run Horizon Forbidden West across three monitors?”
Yes, Sony explicitly lists 48:9 support and compatibility with triple-monitor setups for the PC release. You still need a GPU and display configuration capable of presenting a 48:9 desktop, and you should verify the current hardware requirements before buying additional panels.

A concise buying checklist
- Plan for a new PC save unless the game explicitly documents PS4/PS5 import.
- Do not confuse PS4-to-PS5 cloud or console transfer instructions with PC cross-save.
- Read the exact PC edition’s license before installing community modifications.
- Assume mods are unofficial unless the publisher supplies tools and permission.
- Confirm 21:9, 32:9 or 48:9 support on the game’s own PC page.
- For triple monitors, verify 48:9 support, GPU outputs and the game’s current hardware requirements.
- Back up clean saves before experimenting with any unofficial file.
