Yes—Nintendo supports moving save data between a Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 when the game is compatible. You can use the nearby-console save-data transfer, or move everything through the Switch-to-Switch 2 system-transfer process during the new console’s setup. Both systems must be connected to the internet, and the same Nintendo Account must be linked to the relevant user on each console. Nintendo says Nintendo Switch Online is not required for the nearby transfer.
For PICO PARK specifically, Nintendo and TECOPARK have not published a list confirming which fields—such as cleared levels, scores, unlocks, or multiplayer-related values—are carried to Switch 2. Transfer the data before erasing, selling, or initializing the old console, but do not assume that every piece of PICO PARK progress is guaranteed to appear on the new system.

What Nintendo officially supports
Nintendo’s support documentation describes save-data movement as a software-compatibility feature: save data can be shared between Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch for compatible software. The save belongs to both the Nintendo Account and the console, so a matching account is central to either transfer route.
Recommended Free Tools
- Both consoles need an internet connection and must be placed near one another for the nearby-console process.
- The user profile on the source console and the user profile on the destination console must be linked to the same Nintendo Account.
- Nintendo Switch Online is not required for the nearby save-data transfer.
- Save Data Cloud is a separate option. It works only with software that supports cloud saves and requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Those rules establish that a compatible PICO PARK installation can be moved at the Nintendo system level. They do not establish that every PICO PARK statistic or unlock is portable. TECOPARK’s published PICO PARK and PICO PARK 2 pages do not provide a field-by-field Switch 2 migration guarantee.

Choose the transfer method that fits your situation
Nintendo provides two practical routes. The nearby save-data method is focused on selected saves. The Switch-to-Switch 2 system-transfer flow is intended for moving a console setup during the new system’s initial configuration and has stronger consequences for the old console.
| Method | When to use it | What you need | What happens to the old console | Nintendo Switch Online |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nearby-console save-data transfer | Both consoles are available and you want to move save data for compatible software. | Internet-connected Switch and Switch 2, placed near each other; the same Nintendo Account linked to the users. | Nintendo’s nearby-transfer guidance does not describe it as a full console reset. Review the on-screen confirmation carefully before accepting any deletion prompt. | Not required. |
| Switch-to-Switch 2 system transfer during setup | You are configuring Switch 2 and want to move the broader console setup rather than handling one save at a time. | The source Switch, the new Switch 2, internet access, and the same account credentials. | With local transfer, Nintendo says save data can be deleted from the source after completion. With server transfer, the source console is initialized after its data is uploaded. | Not stated as a requirement for the system-transfer process. |
| Save Data Cloud | The source console is unavailable or you deliberately use Nintendo’s cloud route. | A Nintendo Switch Online membership and a game that supports cloud saves. | The original console is not automatically erased by downloading a cloud backup. | Required, and only supported software can use it. |
If you still have both consoles, the nearby method is the least disruptive choice for a PICO PARK check because it avoids committing to a full source-console initialization. If you are already in Switch 2 setup and want to migrate the console as a whole, follow the system-transfer flow, choosing local or server transfer only after reading the warning about the source system.
Prepare before moving PICO PARK data
A short preparation check prevents the most serious failure: disposing of the old console before you know what arrived on Switch 2.

- Update both systems. Install any pending system and game updates so the consoles are using the compatible versions offered by Nintendo and TECOPARK.
- Confirm the account. On each console, verify that the user who owns or played PICO PARK is linked to exactly the same Nintendo Account. A different account is not treated as the same save owner.
- Charge and connect both consoles. Keep them near one another, connected to the internet and to power if possible. Interrupting a transfer can leave you without a usable copy until you repeat the process.
- Identify the game edition. Check whether you are moving the original PICO PARK or PICO PARK 2. The two games have different multiplayer capabilities, and a package containing both does not merge their saves.
- Record what matters. Take screenshots or notes of cleared stages, high scores, unlocked content and any local player information. Nintendo and TECOPARK have not published a complete list of PICO PARK fields that Switch 2 migration preserves.
How to use nearby-console save-data transfer
This route is appropriate when both systems are in your possession and you want to move compatible saves without making the old console part of a full setup migration.

- Start the transfer tools on both consoles. In each console’s System Settings, open the data-management area and select the save-data transfer function. Choose the option indicating that one console will send data and the other will receive it.
- Place the consoles together. Keep both systems connected to the internet and close to each other. The transfer uses the consoles’ nearby connection; Nintendo does not require Nintendo Switch Online for this feature.
- Select the matching user. On the source console, choose the user who played PICO PARK. On Switch 2, select the user linked to the same Nintendo Account. If the account identities do not match, stop and correct the profile rather than starting a second, unrelated user.
- Choose PICO PARK when the compatible-save list appears. If the game is not listed, check that the software is installed or recognized on the destination, that both systems are online, and that you selected the intended user.
- Read every warning before confirming. Some transfer operations can remove the selected save from the source after a successful move. The confirmation screen is the final authority for the operation you are about to run.
- Wait for completion. Do not close the game, put either console to sleep, disconnect the network, or power off while the transfer is running.
- Test on Switch 2 before touching the old console. Launch the same PICO PARK title, choose the transferred user and inspect the stages, scores and other visible progress. Keep the source console until this check is complete.
The exact labels can change with system software, so follow the wording displayed on your consoles. The important choices are the sending console, receiving console, matching Nintendo Account user and the software save selected for transfer.
How the Switch-to-Switch 2 system-transfer flow differs
Nintendo also offers a system-transfer process as part of setting up Switch 2. It is broader than selecting one game save and is useful when the new console is replacing the old one.
Local system transfer
In a local transfer, the two consoles communicate directly during setup. Nintendo warns that save data can be deleted from the source console after the transfer completes. Treat that as a move, not a backup: verify PICO PARK on Switch 2 before you initialize or dispose of the source.
Server system transfer
A server transfer uploads the source console’s data and then initializes the source console after the upload, according to Nintendo’s support guidance. This is the higher-risk choice if you have not checked the destination. It can be useful when the consoles cannot maintain the same direct setup path, but the initialization consequence means you should make sure the account and destination console are ready first.

Which system route should a PICO PARK player use?
- Use nearby save-data transfer when PICO PARK is the main concern and you want to inspect the result while retaining the old system for verification.
- Use local system transfer when Switch 2 is replacing the old console and you understand that the source save may be removed after completion.
- Use server transfer only after accepting that the source console will be initialized following upload.
- Use Save Data Cloud only if your PICO PARK software supports it and you have Nintendo Switch Online; cloud availability is not a universal property of every game.
Will PICO PARK levels, scores and unlocks carry over?
The honest answer is “not fully documented.” Nintendo’s general compatibility rule means a compatible PICO PARK save can be eligible for transfer, but the official material reviewed for this game does not enumerate the individual fields that Switch 2 receives.
| Progress type | What is established | What remains unconfirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Cleared levels | The game’s save can be included when Nintendo identifies the software as compatible. | Whether every cleared level marker is reproduced exactly on Switch 2 is not specifically stated by TECOPARK or Nintendo. |
| Scores and records | They may be part of the game save. | No published PICO PARK-specific statement guarantees that local scores, rankings or records migrate. |
| Unlocks and settings | They are game-managed data rather than a live multiplayer session. | The official pages do not list which unlocks, options or player-specific values are included. |
| Multiplayer-related progress | There is no Nintendo feature that moves an active multiplayer room or session between consoles. | TECOPARK has not published a complete list of persistent multiplayer values that transfer. |
Make the transfer, then verify the visible state in the game. If a level, score or unlock is missing, do not erase the original console while investigating. The absence of a published field list means neither Nintendo’s general compatibility statement nor the game’s player count can be treated as a guarantee for that specific item.
What “multiplayer progress” means in PICO PARK
Multiplayer progress and multiplayer access are different things. A save transfer moves stored game data; it does not move an active room, a group of connected controllers, a host session or the other players’ consoles. After the transfer, launch PICO PARK on Switch 2 and create or join a new session using the game’s normal local or online controls.
Original PICO PARK
TECOPARK lists the original PICO PARK for two to eight players, with 48 levels. Its official game information says cross-play is not supported. That means a Switch player and a player on another platform cannot rely on a shared cross-platform session for this title. Transferring the save to Switch 2 does not change that rule.

PICO PARK 2
TECOPARK lists PICO PARK 2 for two to eight players with cross-play across platforms. Its official FAQ says Nintendo Switch Online is required for online play. Therefore, moving the save does not remove the membership requirement when you play PICO PARK 2 online from Switch 2. Local play remains governed by the game’s own local-mode rules.
What the transfer does not do
- It does not bring a friend’s separate console save onto your system.
- It does not preserve a live room or reconnect players automatically.
- It does not convert the original PICO PARK into a cross-play title.
- It does not make PICO PARK 2 online play possible without Nintendo Switch Online.
Package editions and game ownership
TECOPARK documents a Japanese Nintendo Switch package called “PICO PARK 1 + 2.” It was released on November 28, 2024 for ¥2,990 and included a sticker and a soundtrack download code. That package gives access to the software; it is not a substitute for Nintendo’s save-data transfer process. A physical or packaged copy does not automatically copy a save, and the package’s listed Japanese price and contents should not be assumed to apply in other regions.
TECOPARK also states that PICO PARK 2 had more than five million downloads worldwide in 2024. That publisher figure describes distribution, not Switch 2 save compatibility, and it does not establish that a particular account’s scores or unlocks will migrate.

PICO PARK does not appear as transferable
- Confirm that you selected the correct sending user and that the destination user is linked to the same Nintendo Account.
- Reconnect both consoles to the internet and keep them close together.
- Install the same PICO PARK title on Switch 2 or follow the destination prompt to make the software available.
- Check whether you are transferring original PICO PARK data while launching PICO PARK 2, or the reverse. They are separate games.
The transfer completed but a level or score is absent
Keep the old console untouched. Reopen the game under the transferred user, verify that you are looking at the same title and edition, and compare it with the notes or screenshots you made. Because no official field-by-field list exists, a missing item may reflect game-specific handling rather than a failed Nintendo account transfer. Contact Nintendo Support for a system-transfer problem and TECOPARK for a game-data question, providing the console models, game title, user account and exactly what changed.

You already initialized the source console
Recovery depends on whether a valid backup exists. Save Data Cloud can restore only a supported game and requires Nintendo Switch Online. If PICO PARK’s relevant data was not backed up and the source was initialized, Nintendo’s general transfer documentation does not promise a way to reconstruct every game-specific value.
Online multiplayer will not connect after migration
For PICO PARK 2, verify Nintendo Switch Online, the internet connection and the game’s online mode. For the original PICO PARK, remember that TECOPARK says cross-play is unsupported; players must use a compatible local or platform-specific arrangement. A successful save transfer cannot override those multiplayer rules.
Pre-disposal checklist
- Both consoles show the intended Nintendo Account on the intended user profile.
- The transfer confirmation has completed without an error.
- The correct PICO PARK title launches on Switch 2.
- Cleared stages, scores and visible unlocks have been checked against the old console.
- Any required Nintendo Switch Online membership for PICO PARK 2 online play is active.
- You have decided whether to keep a backup or the old console before accepting an initialization or deletion prompt.
Only after those checks should you reset, sell or permanently hand over the original Switch.
