No. Pokémon TCG Pocket Pack Points belong to the expansion whose booster packs produced them. Points earned from one expansion cannot be moved, converted, or spent on cards from another expansion. Pokémon Support states that opening packs from an expansion earns Pack Points for that expansion, and those points can be exchanged only for cards appearing in that same expansion.
For example, points earned from A1 packs remain usable for A1 cards. They do not become A1a or A2 points, and there is no official cross-expansion exchange rate. Pack Points do not expire, however, so you can keep them for an eligible card even after that expansion’s packs are no longer available to open.

How Pack Points are separated
Pack Points are organized by expansion rather than held in one universal account balance. An expansion is identified by a code such as A1, A1a, or A2. Each code represents a separate card pool for Pack Point redemption.

When you open a booster pack, the Pack Points generated by that opening are assigned to the pack’s expansion. Those points can be exchanged only for cards that appear in that expansion. The restriction applies even when two expansions are part of the same overall series or use similar names.

In practical terms, an A1 balance is not a general currency that can be redirected to A1a. A2 points are likewise separate from both A1 and A1a. The game treats each expansion’s points as a distinct balance for redemption purposes.
Why the expansion code matters
The code tells you which cards a balance can buy. Before saving points for a particular card, identify the code attached to that card’s expansion. If the card is listed in A1a, points earned from A1 or A2 packs will not satisfy its Pack Point cost. You need points associated with A1a.
Can you move or convert points between expansions?
No. Pokémon Support does not describe a transfer, merge, conversion, or exchange system between expansion balances. There is also no official conversion rate, such as trading a fixed number of A1 points for A2 points.

The table reflects the rule by expansion code, not a temporary shop promotion. A future feature could change the game’s systems, but the published Pack Point rules do not provide any cross-expansion mechanism.
What to do when the card you want is in another expansion
If your target card belongs to a different expansion, your existing balance cannot be redirected toward it. Use the expansion-specific process instead:

- Identify the card’s expansion code. Confirm whether the card is in A1, A1a, A2, or another listed expansion.
- Open booster packs from that expansion. Pack Points are earned from opening packs of the relevant expansion, so points from a different code will not help with that card.
- Accumulate the relevant balance. Keep track of the points associated with the target expansion rather than assuming all Pack Points add to one total.
- Use the exchange for an eligible card. When the card appears in that expansion’s Pack Point exchange, the points tied to that expansion can be used for it.
The official guide presents Pack Points as a way to choose missing cards from a set and finish a collection or deck. That makes them useful for targeted completion, but not for bypassing an expansion’s separate card pool.
If you already have points in an older expansion
There is no need to spend older points immediately just because a newer expansion has launched. Points remain available for cards from their original expansion. You can continue saving them for a missing card from that set, even if you are currently opening newer packs for a different collection goal.

Do Pack Points expire?
No. Pokémon Support’s Gameplay FAQ explicitly says, “No, pack points do not expire.” This applies to the points themselves, not just to points in an expansion that is currently featured in the shop.
The no-expiration rule means an unused balance can remain available while you decide which eligible card to claim. It does not turn the balance into a universal currency: an old A1 balance still buys only eligible A1 cards.
What happens when a booster pack leaves availability?
Pack availability and Pack Point validity are separate. The official notice for Deluxe Pack: ex says that Pack Points obtained from all booster packs, including Deluxe Pack: ex, “will not expire and will remain available for exchange even after the booster pack’s availability period ends.”

Therefore, the end of a pack’s opening period does not automatically erase the points you earned from it. If you are holding points for an eligible card in that expansion, those points remain redeemable after the pack is no longer available to open.

- It does not transfer the points to a newer expansion.
- It does not combine the balance with another expansion’s points.
- It does not cause the balance to expire.
- It does not make cards from other expansions eligible for that balance.
Examples using expansion codes
Example: A1 points and an A1a card
Suppose you opened A1 packs and saved the resulting points for a missing card. You later decide that the card you want is listed in A1a. The A1 balance cannot be used for that A1a card. You must earn A1a points by opening A1a packs, or use another in-game acquisition method if one is available for that card.
Example: A1a points and a new A2 release
When A2 becomes the expansion you are collecting, your A1a points do not become A2 points. They remain tied to A1a and can still be used for eligible A1a cards. To use Pack Points for an A2 card, you need points earned from A2 packs.
Example: an older pack is no longer available
Imagine that you have unused points from an expansion whose booster packs have left the shop. The points do not disappear solely because opening that pack is no longer possible. They remain associated with the old expansion and can still be exchanged for cards that appear in that expansion, subject to the exchange’s normal availability.
How to plan your points without wasting them
Save for a specific missing card
Because points cannot cross expansion boundaries, choose a target within the same expansion as your balance. The system is most useful when you are missing one particular card needed to complete a collection or deck and random openings have not produced it.

Check the code before spending
Do not rely only on a card’s name, artwork, or release timing. Verify its expansion code in the game’s card or exchange information. A similarly themed card in another code is still outside the balance’s eligibility.
Keep separate mental budgets
Treat A1, A1a, A2, and later codes as separate budgets. This prevents the common mistake of spending an older balance while expecting it to help with a newly released card. It also makes it easier to decide whether to keep opening packs from the same expansion or pursue another in-game acquisition method when available.
Do not rush because of an availability notice
A pack leaving the shop is not, by itself, an expiration deadline for its Pack Points. The official notice confirms that points remain available after the booster pack’s availability period ends. You can therefore make a target-card decision based on your collection needs rather than on fear that the balance will vanish at the end of the pack period.

“Pack Points” sounds like one shared currency
The name can suggest a single wallet, but the rules are expansion-specific. The relevant question is not only how many points you have; it is which expansion generated them.
A newer expansion does not replace an older balance
Opening a new expansion does not overwrite or migrate points from an older one. Each opening contributes to the balance for its own expansion.
Pack availability is not the same as point expiration
A booster pack can stop being available while its previously earned points remain exchangeable. Availability controls whether you can open that pack now; expiration would remove the points, and Pokémon Support says Pack Points do not expire.
There is no published transfer rate to calculate
Since transfers are not supported, there is no official ratio to compare, such as two A1 points equaling one A2 point. Any claim that presents a conversion formula is not part of the stated Pack Point rules.
Troubleshooting an unavailable redemption
If a card does not appear as redeemable, check the following before assuming your points are missing:

- Expansion mismatch: Confirm that the card and your points use the same expansion code.
- Wrong balance: Check the points category associated with the pack you opened; balances from other codes cannot be substituted.
- Card eligibility: Pack Points can be exchanged only for cards that appear in that expansion’s eligible exchange pool.
- Availability assumptions: A pack’s removal from the shop does not erase old points, but it also does not make cards from another expansion eligible.
- Alternative acquisition: If the target card cannot be obtained through the current exchange, look for another in-game acquisition method offered for that card rather than trying to transfer points.
These checks distinguish a rules limitation from an account problem. An A1 balance that cannot redeem an A2 card is behaving as designed, not failing to transfer.
The practical rule to remember
Match three things before you spend: the expansion code of the points, the expansion code of the card, and the exchange in which that card appears. If the codes do not match, Pack Points cannot be moved across to make them match. If they do match, the points remain usable even after the associated booster pack’s availability period ends, because Pack Points do not expire.
