It depends on which S Pen you have. Samsung says the S Pen built into a Galaxy phone or tablet cannot be located with SmartThings Find. The separately sold S Pen Pro does support the feature, but you need to enable Offline Finding before it goes missing, and the pen must be powered on. Samsung’s S Pen Pro support page explains the setup requirements.
Which Samsung pens can SmartThings Find locate?
Samsung draws a clear distinction between the built-in S Pen and the S Pen Pro: the built-in pen does not support SmartThings Find, while the separately sold S Pen Pro does. This is a tracking feature of the Pro model, not a capability you can add to a built-in S Pen after losing it. Writing compatibility is not the same as tracking compatibility. Samsung’s S Pen compatibility overview distinguishes writing from BLE capabilities, which depend on the Galaxy device supporting the relevant features. A pen that writes on a device should not be assumed to support SmartThings Find or remote actions.

Samsung’s instructions put Offline Finding in the SmartThings app. Turn it on while you still have the pen; Samsung says the S Pen Pro must be powered on for Offline Finding to work. The exact labels or menu placement can vary by region, software version, and device model.

- Open SmartThings and go to Life > Find.
- Open More options > Settings > Allow devices to be found.
- Enable Offline Finding. Samsung also offers an optional Encrypt offline location setting.
- Confirm that you are using a Samsung account and that the S Pen Pro is powered on.

Find the S Pen Pro in SmartThings
- Open SmartThings and select the Find card under Life.
- Select S Pen Pro from the device list.
- Check the location shown on the map. Refresh the location if that option is available.
- Use any available actions, such as Navigate or Blink light, to help find the pen.
The displayed location and available actions depend on the circumstances and device setup. Samsung describes location display, refresh, and navigation; its support material does not promise precise, continuous live tracking in every situation. Check compatibility and use caution if the pen may be stolen
Samsung lists S Pen Pro compatibility across selected Galaxy Z Fold, S Ultra, Tab, and Book families. Compatibility differs by model and feature; Air Actions, for example, are unavailable on some of the devices listed. Check Samsung’s current S Pen Pro compatibility information for your exact device rather than relying on a general assumption that all Galaxy devices support every Pro feature.
If SmartThings shows a location and you believe the pen was stolen, Samsung advises against going to that location yourself. Contact the authorities instead.
