Yes—if you already own Ultimechs, Resolution Games says its single-player mode will remain playable after online multiplayer services end on October 20, 2026. Online player-versus-player matches, online co-op, cross-platform matchmaking and match spectating will end. The game is also scheduled to leave the Steam Store that day, so the important distinction is between keeping access to an existing installation and being able to buy the game later.
Ultimechs will still require virtual-reality hardware and tracked controllers. The announcement describes the change as a retirement of online multiplayer, not a removal of the game from every owner’s library. The separate Ultimechs Spectator client is included in the delisting and loses its purpose once there are no matches to watch.

Can you play Ultimechs in single-player after the shutdown?
Existing owners keep the single-player mode
Resolution Games explicitly says that owners will still be able to enter the arena and play Ultimechs in single-player mode after multiplayer services end. That is the clearest answer for anyone who already has the game on a supported VR platform: the end of matchmaking does not erase the single-player experience.
The official Steam listing identifies Ultimechs as a VR-only title with tracked-controller support and both single-player and online features. You should therefore expect to continue using a compatible VR headset and tracked controllers; the shutdown notice does not describe a conversion to a flat-screen or gamepad version.
“Playable” does not necessarily mean fully offline
The announcement confirms the single-player content but does not specify how the game handles first launch, account authentication, license checks, reinstalls or future platform updates. It would be inaccurate to promise that you can disconnect the headset permanently and launch without any network access.

If offline operation matters to you, keep the game installed and updated while the service is still operating, then test single-player with your usual setup. A successful test can show how your current installation behaves; it cannot establish how a later reinstall or platform update will work.

What the delisting means for your purchase
The game is scheduled to leave the Steam Store on the shutdown date. VR.org has reported a matching delisting notice for the Meta Horizon Store. Delisting means new customers should no longer be able to acquire the title through those storefront listings.
For people who already own Ultimechs, Resolution Games’ notice says single-player access continues. It does not spell out every storefront policy for downloading a deleted title, restoring a library license or moving the installation to a new headset. Keep your current installation available rather than assuming a future download will be guaranteed.
Delisting also does not turn multiplayer back on through a different platform. Once the online service is retired, changing storefronts, reinstalling the client or using the Spectator app will not restore matchmaking.

What happens to UltiCoins?
New purchases are disabled
In-app purchases have already been disabled in preparation for the shutdown. You should not expect to buy additional UltiCoins after that change, whether you are preparing for a final online session or planning to use the single-player mode later.

Existing balances remain usable
The same announcement states that UltiCoins purchased previously remain spendable even after multiplayer services end. That is a limited continuity promise: it covers the ability to use an existing balance, not the ability to obtain more currency or any guarantee that every online-dependent item will continue to function.
Check your balance and decide whether you want to use it before the service change. Do not purchase gift cards, codes or third-party currency on the assumption that new in-game buying will resume; the published policy says purchases are disabled.
What happens to Ultimechs Spectator?
Ultimechs Spectator is being delisted alongside the main game. Resolution Games says it will no longer be able to spectate any matches after online multiplayer services end. Because the client’s purpose is viewing live or available matches, keeping it installed will not provide an alternate way to watch competitive play once the service is retired.
This is separate from single-player access in the main Ultimechs game. The main client can continue to provide its solo arena experience, while the Spectator client loses its online viewing function.

What owners should do before multiplayer ends
- Schedule any final online matches. Play PvP or online co-op before the service retirement. Cross-platform sessions are part of the online feature set that will end.
- Review your UltiCoin balance. Existing coins remain spendable, but new in-app purchases are disabled. Use the balance if you want to apply it while the game’s systems are still familiar and available.
- Update the game and your VR platform. The notice does not promise that a future reinstall or platform update will work without internet access. Updating while the title remains listed reduces the number of unknowns for your current installation.
- Keep the main game installed. Existing owners are promised continued single-player access, while the post-delisting rules for redownloads are not detailed.
- Verify your headset and tracked controllers. Ultimechs remains a VR-only game. Make sure your controllers pair and track correctly before you rely on the title as a lasting single-player activity.
- Stop relying on Spectator for future viewing. The client will not be able to spectate matches after the shutdown, so save any personal memories or recordings you want before services end.

Hardware and platform considerations
The shutdown announcement does not require owners to buy a new headset, controller or other hardware. It also does not announce a new minimum specification. The known requirement remains the existing one: Ultimechs is VR-only and uses tracked controllers.
That matters when deciding whether to preserve an installation. A headset that is no longer supported by its platform, a controller with unreliable tracking or a platform account that cannot restore its license could affect your practical access even though the single-player service itself remains available. Those are platform and hardware issues, not evidence that Resolution Games is removing solo play.
Troubleshooting after the multiplayer shutdown
The multiplayer menu is unavailable
This is expected after the service retirement. Check that you are not looking for a hidden matchmaking toggle or a replacement server: the published plan is single-player-only operation, not a migration to a new multiplayer backend.
Single-player will not launch
Confirm that the headset is connected, the tracked controllers are paired and the game is updated. If the title requests an internet connection or account verification, the shutdown notice does not say whether that check can be bypassed. Avoid assuming that repeated reinstalls will solve the issue, because post-delisting download and authentication behavior has not been documented.
You cannot find the game in the store
That is consistent with the planned delisting. Use the library associated with the account that owned Ultimechs and keep the installed copy available. The announcement confirms continued access for existing owners but does not publish a universal redownload procedure for every platform.
Your UltiCoins are still shown but an item does not work
The published promise covers spending previously purchased UltiCoins. It does not describe every item, cosmetic or feature that may depend on an online service. Check whether the item is part of single-player; an online-only function can disappear even when the balance remains.
Spectator opens but shows no matches
That behavior is expected once there are no online matches to view. Spectator is not a replacement single-player mode and will no longer be able to spectate matches.
Should you keep Ultimechs installed?
Keep it installed if you value the VR single-player arena, want to use an existing UltiCoin balance or want to avoid relying on an unspecified future redownload process. There is no need to keep it for online competition, cross-platform matchmaking or spectator viewing; those functions are ending.
Owners who are short on storage can make their own trade-off. Removing the game may free space, but the available notices do not explain whether a later reinstall will be frictionless after the store listing disappears. If preserving access is more important than storage, retain the installation and its current platform account.
The bottom line for owners
Ultimechs is not becoming entirely unusable on October 20, 2026. Existing owners are scheduled to retain the VR single-player experience, while online PvP, co-op, cross-platform play and Spectator viewing end. The game’s store listings are also scheduled for removal, new UltiCoin purchases are disabled, and previously purchased coins remain spendable. Keep the game updated and installed if you want the most dependable path to solo play, but do not treat the announcement as a guarantee of completely offline launches, reinstalls or authentication.
