Not separately for each calendar inside one Outlook app, according to Microsoft’s documented settings. Outlook offers a first-day-of-week preference, but Microsoft’s instructions describe it as an app-level calendar setting, not an individual-calendar option. You can change that preference in classic Outlook, new Outlook, or Outlook on the web; the menu depends on which version you use.
Can each Outlook calendar start on a different day?
If you want one calendar to begin on Sunday and another to begin on Monday within the same Outlook application, Microsoft’s reviewed guidance does not document a way to assign separate week starts to individual calendars. The available instructions change the first-day preference for the Outlook calendar view, rather than for a selected calendar.

Change the first day of the week in your version of Outlook
Use the instructions for the Outlook version you have. Classic Outlook and new Outlook have different settings paths, and Outlook on the web has its own Calendar settings. Microsoft’s guidance is available for classic Outlook, new Outlook, and Outlook on the web.

Classic Outlook for Microsoft 365, Outlook 2024, or Outlook 2021
- Select File > Options > Calendar.
- Under Work time, choose the day you want in First day of week.
- Select OK.
Microsoft documents Sunday as the classic Outlook default first day of the week, and Monday through Friday as its default work week. These are documented classic Outlook defaults, not universal Windows 11 defaults.
New Outlook
- Select Calendar.
- Choose View > Calendar settings.
- Under Calendar appearance, use Show the first day of the week as to choose a day, then save.
Outlook on the web
- Open Outlook’s Calendar settings.
- In the Settings pane or calendar appearance settings, find the first-day-of-week preference.
- Choose the day you want. In Week view, that day appears first.
First day of the week is not the same as Work Week
The first-day preference changes the order or starting point of the calendar view. The Work Week setting controls which days are included when you view a work week. Changing the workdays does not set a different first day for a particular calendar.

Why Windows 11 regional settings may not solve it
Windows region and language settings influence some Outlook presentation details. Microsoft notes that certain date formats follow operating-system settings, and region or language can affect alternate-calendar language and names. If your calendar still starts on the wrong day
- Confirm whether you are using classic Outlook, new Outlook, or Outlook on the web, then follow that version’s path above.
- Check First day of week or Show the first day of the week as; do not rely on the Work Week selection to change it.
- If only date formatting or an alternate calendar’s language looks different, review the relevant Windows region and language settings rather than expecting them to create per-calendar week starts.
