Yes, but only some Snapchat history. You can check records Snapchat still retains through its My Data export, and you can view messages or Snaps saved in Chats or Memories. It is not a complete archive: Snapchat says unsaved viewed, expired, or deleted content may be removed from its servers and cannot be recovered by Snapchat.
What counts as Snapchat history?
“Snapchat history” can mean several different things, and each has a different way to access it:

- Account records: A My Data export may include Snap History, Saved Chat History, login history, search history, location, friends, and other categories Snapchat retains.
- Saved Chat messages: These remain in the conversation and are visibly marked as saved.
- Memories: Snaps and other items saved to Memories can be browsed in the app or exported.
- Viewed, expired, or deleted content: This is generally not available if Snapchat has removed it from its servers.
The export is not a guarantee of a complete lifetime record. Snapchat says retention periods differ, and some information may no longer be accessible. Snapchat’s My Data instructions describe available categories and limitations.

How to download the Snapchat history Snapchat still has
- Sign in to accounts.snapchat.com with your own account, or open Snapchat and go to Settings > My Data.
- Select the information categories you want, such as Snap History or Saved Chat History, and choose a date range. Turn off the date-range restriction to request all data available for export.
- Confirm the notification email address and submit the request.
- When Snapchat is ready, download the export using the link in its email or open See exports and choose Download. The export is delivered as a ZIP file.
Snapchat says it strives to prepare exports within seven days, but timing varies with the size of the request; large downloads may take longer. The account portal is the place to check the most complete and current category list.

Choose the right route for what you want to see

How to find saved messages in a Chat
Open the conversation and look for messages with a gray background. Snapchat says tapping a message saves or unsaves it; saved messages are visible to all participants, so this is not a private archive. See Snapchat’s instructions for saving or deleting Chat messages.
How to export Memories only
- Open My Data and enable Export your Memories.
- Choose Request Only Memories and submit the request.
- When the ZIP is ready, extract it and open
index.htmlin a browser to navigate the Memories and download individual items or all of them.
Snapchat suggests using a computer if the process is difficult on a mobile device. Its My Data help page covers the export process.

Can you recover deleted Snapchat messages or Snaps?
Do not count on My Data or another app to restore content Snapchat has deleted. Snapchat says most Snaps and Chats are automatically deleted from its servers after all recipients have opened them or they expire. Unless saved, viewed, expired, or deleted Chats, Snaps, and Memories are removed from Snapchat’s servers, and Snapchat says it cannot recover them for you. Use the official Snapchat app or account portal and sign in to your own account. Snapchat’s account data is accessed through authenticated login; do not use another person’s credentials or tools claiming to reveal private history or recover content the platform says is gone. If you get a notice about a data export you did not request, Snapchat recommends changing your password, enabling Login Verification, and securely storing your Recovery Code. Snapchat’s My Data guidance includes these account-security steps.
