Can You Run Two Internet Radio Channels on One YouTube Account?

Yes. One Google Account can manage up to 100 YouTube channels, so you can create a separate channel for each internet radio station. Each station needs its own channel identity and live event; switch to the intended channel before setting up its broadcast. You can run broadcasts on both channels at the same time, subject to YouTube’s per-channel and per-stream-key limits and each channel’s eligibility.

How two channels work under one Google Account

A Google Account is the login; a YouTube channel is the public identity that publishes videos and livestreams. YouTube allows one Google Account to manage up to 100 channels. The account switcher selects one channel at a time in YouTube, so it does not combine the stations or let you set up a live event under both identities at once. Switch to the correct channel before creating or scheduling each station’s stream. YouTube explains channel switching and the account limit.

A personal channel is associated with your Google Account and is suitable when one person manages the station under that channel identity.

Brand Account channel

A Brand Account can give a station a distinct public name and can support multiple managers. It is useful when the channel should have a separate identity or other people need access. These are channel-management choices, not prerequisites for operating two channels. See YouTube’s guidance on managing channels and creating a channel.

Create and prepare the second radio channel

  1. Create the channel: use YouTube’s channel-creation flow while signed in to the Google Account that will manage it. Choose a Brand Account if you want a different station name or shared management.
  2. Confirm the selected identity: use YouTube’s channel switcher to select the station you are setting up. In YouTube Studio, check the channel name and avatar before creating or scheduling the live event.
  3. Make the channel eligible to livestream: YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its guidance says livestreamers must be at least 16 years old. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until just before a planned broadcast. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and limits.
  4. Set up a separate broadcast for each station: switch to the channel that should own the event, then create or schedule its stream. Repeat for the other channel. Use the stream key and event intended for that channel; verify the selected channel before going live.
  5. Choose an encoder: YouTube accepts streams sent using software or standalone hardware encoders. Hardware is optional. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes the setup flow.

Can both radio channels livestream at the same time?

YouTube’s help guidance states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Those limits are specified per channel and per key, not as a promise of account-level throughput. Two separate channels therefore need their own stream setups, and your encoder, internet connection, and channel eligibility must also support the broadcasts. YouTube documents sending streams to multiple destinations using local or cloud encoder workflows, but it does not guarantee a particular account’s network capacity. See Stream across platforms.

Music rights matter for internet radio

Having permission to operate two channels does not grant permission to broadcast the music. Secure rights for the recordings and compositions you plan to play, for the relevant territories and live-stream use. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a match can result in interruption or termination. If a rights holder has licensed music for your live use, ask whether the channel must be allowlisted in Content ID. YouTube notes that a license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. Read its guidance on copyright issues with live streams and livestream terms and conditions.

Keep the broadcasts running

For a do-it-yourself setup, run an encoder on a computer or use standalone hardware, and configure a separate broadcast for each channel. This gives you direct control of the encoder, but the equipment and internet connection used for a local setup need to remain available while broadcasting. YouTube also describes cloud encoders as an option in multi-destination workflows; the exact capabilities depend on the service you choose.

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded recordings or a playlist: upload the video, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded video, not a live camera feed; a separate slot and channel setup is needed for each station. Troubleshooting common setup problems

  • The live event appears on the wrong station: the wrong channel was selected when creating or scheduling it. Switch channels and confirm the name and avatar in YouTube Studio before setting up the event.
  • The channel cannot go live yet: verify that the channel meets YouTube’s livestream eligibility requirements and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
  • A stream will not start or another stream is affected: check the active-stream limits for the channel and stream key, and confirm the encoder is using the intended channel’s stream setup.
  • A radio stream is interrupted: check YouTube Studio and any rights-holder instructions for a third-party content match. Confirm that your permission covers live use and ask about Content ID allowlisting.
  • Both streams are unreliable: YouTube’s per-channel limits do not establish that your internet connection or encoder can sustain both broadcasts. Check local network and encoder capacity, or consider a cloud workflow.
