Nintendo UK lists 16 October 2025 as the game’s release date. A preorder is an order placed before release; now that the date has passed, any current listing is for purchase, not preorder. Availability and pricing can vary by region, so check the live listing for your country. Nintendo UK’s game page describes the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition as an upgraded version with improved resolution and frame rates.

Which edition or digital product should you choose?
- Nintendo Switch edition: The original edition for Nintendo Switch.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: The version described by Nintendo as offering improved resolution and frame rates on Switch 2.
- Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack: A separate digital product for Switch 2 owners who have the Switch game; it is not the base game.
- Mega Dimension DLC: A separate add-on listed for both Switch 2 and Switch, not a preorder or the base game. Nintendo Support’s DLC listing identifies the available products.
If you prefer a physical copy, check participating retailers for the correct platform edition. For a digital purchase, use your regional Nintendo eShop or Nintendo’s regional game page. How Nintendo eShop preorders work in general
Although this game is no longer preorderable, Nintendo’s standard process explains what would happen for an eligible unreleased game. Nintendo says to find the game in the console’s eShop or on nintendo.com, choose “Proceed to pre-order,” and follow the prompts. This is general eShop guidance, not an active preorder option for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Nintendo’s preorder and preload FAQ provides the details.

- Authorize the purchase. Nintendo processes the full purchase amount no sooner than seven days before the game’s release.
- Wait for the preload. After successful payment, a non-playable version downloads to the console.
- Start after release. A small update made available on release day enables play. If payment fails, Nintendo says the preorder is canceled.
Are the old early-purchase bonuses still available?
The Pokémon Company’s early-purchase announcement described a 100 Poké Balls code for the digital version and an internet Mystery Gift Ralts for physical and digital buyers. The stated Ralts availability period ended on 28 February 2026, so that offer is past its published deadline. Do not assume either bonus is currently available; check the relevant listing or official announcement for any updated terms. The Pokémon Company’s bonus announcement has the original details.
