Can You Play Valorant Without a Graphics Card? What Integrated Graphics Can and Can’t Do

Yes, if “without a graphics card” means without a separate, dedicated card. Valorant can run on a processor’s integrated graphics, and Riot’s own minimum requirements list one such part, the Intel HD 4000. What it can’t do is run on a machine with no usable graphics processor at all, and it isn’t supported on cloud gaming or virtual devices.

What “no graphics card” actually means

Almost every PC has something that draws the picture. It’s either a discrete GPU (a card or a dedicated laptop chip) or integrated graphics built into the CPU or chipset. When people say they have no graphics card, they usually mean the second case. That setup is fine for Valorant, provided the integrated GPU meets Riot’s minimum and the rest of the system qualifies.

Riot’s published graphics tiers

Riot Games Support (PC requirements page, dated September 22, 2025) sorts requirements into three frame-rate targets. These are Riot’s example parts, not guarantees. Your result depends on the whole system and on what’s happening in the match.

Tier Target Listed GPUs
Minimum 30 FPS Intel HD 4000, AMD Radeon R5 220
Recommended 60 FPS NVIDIA GeForce GT 730, AMD Radeon R7 240
High-end 144 FPS NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti, AMD Radeon R7 370, Intel Arc A310

The Intel HD 4000 is the integrated option at the minimum tier, which is what makes graphics-card-free play officially possible. Riot doesn’t publish an exhaustive list of every integrated GPU that works, so don’t assume any integrated chip will do. Newer integrated graphics are generally more capable than the HD 4000, but Riot’s page doesn’t test or rank them, so treat that as an expectation and not a promise.

  • Powerful Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT 3.6GHz (4.6GHz Turbo) 6-Core 12-Thread processor brings faster response time to easily handle multi-threaded tasks
  • Motherboard Specification: MSI A520M-A PRO motherboard provides reliable performance and expandability for your computing needs
  • Integrated Graphics: AMD Radeon Vega Graphics (CPU Integration) enables you to play 1080P mainstream games at quality frame rates
  • Memory and Storage: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM paired with 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD for fast multitasking and quick data access
  • Power Supply: 550W 80PLUS Bronze certified power supply ensures stable and energy-efficient operation

The rest of the minimum spec still applies

Integrated graphics only help if everything else clears the bar. Riot’s minimum configuration lists:

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-540 or AMD Athlon 200GE
  • RAM: at least 4 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (build 19041 or later per Riot’s listing of 190415+) or Windows 11 64-bit
  • Graphics API: DirectX 11 support
  • Windows 11 extras: TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot, which Riot’s anti-cheat requires

Integrated graphics share system memory with the CPU, so a PC sitting exactly at 4 GB has little headroom. That’s a practical inference and not a Riot figure, but it’s why more RAM tends to help on these systems.

How to check what graphics your PC has

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager and go to the Performance tab.
  2. Select GPU 0 (and GPU 1 if present). The name appears in the top-right corner, for example “Intel HD Graphics 4000” or a Radeon or GeForce model.
  3. For DirectX details, press Win+R, type dxdiag, and open the Display tab. Check the name and the DirectX feature levels.
  4. Compare the name to Riot’s tiers above, then check CPU, RAM and Windows version against the minimum list.

If no GPU entry appears, or Windows shows only a basic display adapter, the graphics driver is likely missing. Install the driver from your PC or chipset maker before concluding the hardware can’t cope.

What won’t work

  • Cloud gaming and virtual devices: Riot states Valorant doesn’t support either, so streaming it from a remote server or running it in a virtual machine isn’t a workaround for weak hardware.
  • Unsupported Windows or 32-bit systems: a capable GPU can’t make up for an OS Riot doesn’t list.
  • GPUs without DirectX 11 support: these fall below the requirement regardless of type.

Setting expectations on integrated graphics

Riot’s minimum tier is aimed at 30 FPS, and the 60 and 144 FPS tiers list discrete cards. If your goal is smooth competitive play, an integrated-only setup may fall short of the higher targets, and laptops can lose speed to heat. Riot’s page doesn’t measure any of that, and no benchmarks back a specific frame rate here. The sensible path is to install the game, try it, and lower in-game graphics settings if it stutters. If it still doesn’t hold up, a modest discrete card in the Recommended tier’s class is the logical upgrade for a desktop. Check Riot’s live requirements page before buying, since the listed specs can change.
