Yes—but not every Street Fighter II release is online. What is the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection?
It is a compilation of 12 arcade-era Street Fighter games, including five Street Fighter II-era versions. Capcom’s anniversary announcement said the Street Fighter series had sold more than 40 million units after 30 years. That is a franchise-wide figure, not a sales total for Street Fighter II or for this collection.
Supported platforms and online requirements
The collection is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam. On newer consoles, availability may be presented through backward compatibility or the platform’s own store rules, so check the current listing for the hardware you use.

Ranked matches
Ranked play records results on leaderboards. Wins and losses matter to your standing, so it is the competitive choice when you want a persistent measure of performance. Select this mode when you are comfortable with the chosen revision’s timing and controls.
Casual matches
Casual matches do not affect the ranked leaderboard. They are useful for trying a character, testing a controller or playing without putting your ranking at stake.
Four-player lobbies
Lobbies support up to four players and include spectating. A lobby can therefore function as a small online room: players rotate into matches while others watch. This is the closest option to arranging a private session with friends, subject to the platform’s account and invitation tools.
Latency and input options
Capcom describes rollback-style latency handling and an adjustable input-latency setting. Network conditions still matter: distance, congestion, Wi-Fi interference and the other player’s connection can affect how a bout feels. The setting gives you a way to choose the input behavior that suits your connection and preference; it cannot make a poor connection behave like an offline cabinet.

How to play Street Fighter II online
- Choose the collection for your platform. Buy or install the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or PC/Steam. Confirm that your store region offers the edition you intend to use.
- Finish platform account setup. Sign in to the console or Steam account that owns the game and connect the system to the internet. On PS4, have an active PS Plus subscription because the PlayStation listing marks it as required for online play.
- Launch an online-enabled SFII revision. From the collection’s game selection, choose Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting or Super Street Fighter II: Turbo. Selecting the original Street Fighter II, Champion Edition or Super Street Fighter II will give you arcade or local options, not the collection’s online matchmaking.
- Pick a mode. Use Online Arcade to combine CPU progression with human interruptions, Ranked for leaderboard competition, Casual for unranked matches, or a lobby for a small group and spectating.

You want the official online version with the fewest decisions
Choose the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection and select Hyper Fighting or Super Turbo. It combines the arcade versions with ranked, casual, Online Arcade and lobby play in one package.
You want the exact original revision for local play
The collection still includes the original Street Fighter II, Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II. They are appropriate for solo arcade runs, practice and same-room versus, but you should not buy them expecting online matchmaking.
You own vintage hardware
Keep the cabinet or cartridge for its original controls, display and offline authenticity. Use the modern collection when internet competition is the priority; the two experiences serve different purposes.
You mainly play with a fight stick

Common problems and practical checks
The online menu is missing
First verify that you launched Hyper Fighting or Super Turbo rather than one of the three offline SFII entries. Then confirm that the game is updated, your platform account is signed in, and the console or PC reports an active internet connection. On PS4, check the PS Plus status specified by the store listing.
Matches feel delayed or unstable
- Prefer a wired network connection when possible.
- Pause downloads, streaming and other heavy network traffic on the same connection.
