Yes, but PC support differs by game. The newest option, Gears of War: Reloaded, launched on PC on August 26, 2025, alongside Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5 and Steam. It is listed for PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, and Xbox says it supports cross-play and cross-progression across platforms.
Gears of War 4, Gears 5, Gears Tactics and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 also have PC listings. However, you should verify each game’s own store page rather than assume every numbered release has a current native Windows version.

Which Gears of War games are available on PC?
The official Gears franchise catalog and individual Xbox store pages identify several PC-playable releases. They are not identical experiences: one is a remaster of the original campaign, two are third-person sequels, one is a turn-based strategy game, and one is an older Windows 10 release.

Gears of War: Reloaded on PC
Reloaded is the clearest starting point for someone asking whether the series is on PC now. Xbox announced the remaster for Xbox PC and Steam, in addition to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming and PlayStation 5, with a launch date of August 26, 2025. The announcement is documented in Xbox Wire’s release announcement.
The product information describes Windows 10/11 support. That is a platform statement, not a promise about frame rate or image quality on every computer. Xbox lists PC-oriented options including ultrawide displays, benchmark mode, variable refresh rate, mouse-and-keyboard input, FSR 3.1, DLSS 3.5 Super Resolution and controller remapping. Those are listed capabilities; they are not independent performance tests or a substitute for checking the game’s current requirements.
What the remaster includes
The game revisits the original campaign in a modern release rather than serving as a new numbered sequel. If you want the first story with contemporary PC features, this is the relevant release. If you specifically want the later campaigns, compare its listing with Gears 4 or Gears 5 instead of assuming the remaster contains those games.
Why the launch date matters
Older articles may describe the original game as unavailable on PC or mention only the Windows 10 Ultimate Edition. Those statements predate Reloaded. For current purchasing decisions, use the live Steam or Xbox listing and check the edition name so you do not confuse the 2015-era Windows release with the 2025 remaster.
Is Gears of War: Reloaded on PC Game Pass?
Xbox announced Reloaded for PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate at launch. The current Xbox product presentation also shows the game as included with Game Pass, but subscription catalogs, plan entitlements and regional availability can change. Confirm the live listing in your country before subscribing or assuming an existing plan includes the PC version.

How to verify your access
- Open the game’s current listing through the Xbox Gears catalog or the Xbox app on Windows.
- Check that the page identifies the PC edition, not only a console or cloud entitlement.
- Look for the Game Pass badge and the plan name shown for your account. PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate are separate plan labels, and the displayed offer can vary by region.
- Review the purchase or install button. If the page asks you to buy the game despite your subscription, read the entitlement details before proceeding; the catalog may have changed or your plan may not include PC access.
A Game Pass listing is an access benefit, not permanent ownership. If the title leaves the catalog or your subscription ends, you may need to purchase it to continue playing. Store pages are the best place to check the current status because catalog membership is changeable.
Does Gears of War: Reloaded have cross-play?

Cross-progression and parties
Xbox also says Reloaded carries campaign saves and multiplayer progress between platforms. Signing in with a Microsoft account enables cross-progression and cross-platform parties. In practical terms, you should use the same account identity wherever you play; switching platforms without the linked account can prevent the expected save or progression transfer.
Cross-play and cross-progression solve different problems. Cross-play lets people on different systems play together. Cross-progression moves eligible saves or progression between systems. A game can offer one without the other, so look for both statements when evaluating another title.

What other Gears games can you play on a Windows PC?
Gears of War 4
The Xbox store lists Gears of War 4 for PC and states that it supports Xbox Play Anywhere between Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Play Anywhere is an entitlement feature connecting the listed Xbox and Windows versions; it should not be read as evidence that every other game in the franchise has the same arrangement. This is a mainline cover shooter, so it is the relevant choice if you want the fourth numbered campaign rather than the original story or a strategy game. The store page, not a general franchise list, should determine whether your edition and account can install it today.
Gears 5
Gears 5 also has an Xbox PC store listing. It is a later numbered entry in the third-person shooter series. Availability, edition names and any current subscription entitlement should be checked on the Gears 5 product page. The evidence for Reloaded‘s cross-play and cross-progression should not be treated as a blanket feature list for Gears 5.
Gears Tactics
Gears Tactics is available through an Xbox PC listing, but it is not another cover-shooter campaign. It uses turn-based strategy and is set in the Gears universe. Choose it if you want squad positioning, action-point decisions and tactical encounters rather than the real-time shooting loop of the numbered games. Its official store page is the place to verify current PC access.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Windows 10
The Windows 10 Ultimate Edition is an earlier remastered PC release with keyboard and gamepad controls. Xbox published Windows 10 requirements for that release, but those figures are historical. They should not be presented as the system requirements for Reloaded, which is a different 2025 product.

How to choose the right Gears game for PC
Use the following decision order before buying or installing:
- Choose the type of game. Pick Reloaded for the original remastered campaign, Gears 4 or Gears 5 for numbered shooter campaigns, or Gears Tactics for turn-based strategy.
- Confirm native PC availability. Open the individual Xbox or Steam listing and verify that Windows PC is included. Do not infer support from a console-only franchise page.
- Check your subscription. If you plan to use Game Pass, verify the plan badge and regional catalog entry at the moment you intend to play.
- Match multiplayer expectations. Only Reloaded has the cross-play and cross-progression promises described above. Require an explicit statement for any other title.
- Check your input and display setup. Reloaded lists mouse-and-keyboard support, controller remapping, ultrawide support and variable refresh rate. These features can help choose a setup, but they do not establish a recommended hardware specification.
PC features and operating-system caveats
The most specific current PC feature list belongs to Reloaded. Xbox identifies Windows 10/11 support and the following options:
- Ultrawide display support
- Benchmark mode
- Variable refresh rate
- Mouse-and-keyboard controls
- AMD FSR 3.1
- NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 Super Resolution
- Controller remapping
Feature availability can depend on the hardware, driver and display combination, and the source does not provide independent benchmarks. Do not use the older Ultimate Edition’s Windows 10 figures to predict how Reloaded will run. Instead, read the current system-requirements section attached to the edition you are installing.
Common mistakes when trying to play Gears on PC
Assuming the entire series is on PC
PC support is title-specific. A general franchise page can show several games while leaving other releases absent or represented by a different edition. Search for the exact game name and open its product page before purchasing.

Reloaded is listed for Xbox Cloud Gaming as well as Xbox PC and Steam. Cloud availability means the service can stream the game; it is not the same as installing a native Windows copy. Select the PC edition if you need local files, PC graphics options or offline installation behavior.

Expecting older games to share Reloaded’s cross-play
Cross-platform play is explicitly announced for Reloaded. Older titles require their own current multiplayer documentation. Confirm the exact platforms supported before inviting friends on another system.
Using outdated requirements
The Windows 10 requirements associated with the Ultimate Edition describe that older release. They are not a safe hardware guide for the 2025 remaster. Use the current listing for the game you actually plan to run.
What Xbox says about the original game’s impact
In the launch-day Xbox Wire article, The Coalition studio head Mike Crump recalled: “The terror of encountering the Berserker will be forever etched into my memory.” The comment appears in the context of the original game’s return through Reloaded; it is not a performance claim or a description of a new mode.
Bottom line for PC players
PC gaming is available across several Gears releases, but the safest route is title-by-title verification. Gears of War: Reloaded is the current entry point, with Xbox PC and Steam availability, a PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate launch listing, and officially announced cross-play and cross-progression.
