What is included with Game Pass?
Standard Edition is the Game Pass version
Active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers receive the Standard Edition as part of membership. The official launch notice describes it as included “at no additional cost,” meaning you do not buy the game separately while your eligible subscription is active. You still need the applicable Microsoft account, an eligible device and access to the service in your region.

- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.
- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
- JOIN THE HORIZON COMMUNITY — Race, cruise, and compete with friends in Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets, Car Meets, and Horizon multiplayer modes, including Spec Racing Championships.
Game Pass inclusion is a license tied to the subscription rather than permanent ownership. If the subscription ends, or if catalog and regional eligibility change, access can be affected. Save data and account progress are separate from the question of whether the game is currently included.
Ultimate is the console, cloud and handheld option
For Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming and the handheld access identified in the Xbox announcement, the qualifying plan is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. PC Game Pass alone is not the console entitlement described by the launch information.
PC Game Pass is the PC option
On Windows PC, PC Game Pass provides the Standard Edition through the Xbox app. You do not need Ultimate solely to play the PC version if PC Game Pass is available to you. The game’s initial PC release is separate from the console installation, so choose the PC listing in the Xbox app rather than assuming a console entitlement applies automatically.

When did Forza Horizon 6 arrive?
The standard launch and Game Pass availability date was May 19, 2026. Playground Games and Forza announced Xbox Series X|S and PC availability on that date, with Xbox Cloud Gaming included in the supported Game Pass options.
Premium Edition owners received early access on May 15, 2026, four days before the standard launch. That earlier start was an edition benefit, not an extra Game Pass entitlement. A subscriber who wanted early access or Premium content needed to purchase the Premium Edition or a Premium Upgrade.
| Edition or entitlement | Start date | Included through Game Pass? | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | May 19, 2026 | Yes, with Ultimate or PC Game Pass | Base game access on the eligible platform |
| Premium Edition | May 15, 2026 early access | No separate Premium entitlement stated | Requires purchase; includes early access and premium content |
| Premium Upgrade | Available for purchase | Not included in the Standard Game Pass benefit | Adds the Premium benefits to an eligible ownership or subscription arrangement |
How to start playing with Game Pass
On Xbox Series X|S
- Sign in on the console with the Microsoft account that holds Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
- Open the Game Pass catalog or use the console search and enter Forza Horizon 6.
- Select the Standard Edition listing and choose the install option.
- After installation, launch the game from My games & apps. If the listing asks you to buy the game instead, check that the console account has an active Ultimate subscription and that you selected the Standard Edition.
The console entitlement in the announcement is specifically associated with Ultimate. A PC Game Pass subscription by itself should not be treated as the Xbox Series X|S license.

- VIP MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS — Enjoy a 2x Credit boost to race rewards, 3 VIP-Exclusive Forza Edition cars, a weekly bonus Super Wheelspin, and special Vanity Items.

- ITALIAN PASSION CAR PACK — Introduces 4 great new Italian cars in Forza Horizon 6 post-launch, perfect for cruising, racing, or exploring.
On Windows PC
- Install or open the Xbox app for Windows and sign in with the account that has PC Game Pass.
- Search for Forza Horizon 6 and select the Standard Edition result.
- Choose the install command, select a drive if prompted, and allow the Xbox app to complete the download.
- Launch from the Xbox app or your installed games list. If the app shows only a purchase option, verify the subscription account, app sign-in and edition selection before buying anything.
PC Game Pass is the named plan for PC access. Ultimate also provides PC Game Pass benefits, but you do not need to move to Ultimate merely to play on a supported Windows PC.
Through Xbox Cloud Gaming
- Sign in to the Xbox cloud gaming service with an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate account.
- Search the cloud catalog for Forza Horizon 6.
- Choose the cloud-play option when the title is listed as available for your device and region.
- Start the stream and use a compatible controller or supported control method.
Cloud availability can vary by location, device and service status. The Xbox announcement lists cloud access, but catalog membership and supported-device coverage can change over time.
What Game Pass does not provide
It does not include Premium benefits automatically
Game Pass supplies the Standard Edition. Early access on May 15 and Premium content require a Premium Edition purchase or Premium Upgrade. Do not assume that an Ultimate subscription silently changes the Standard Edition into Premium.

- DELUXE EDITION — Includes the full game, Welcome Pack, and Car Pass, delivering 30 additional cars to your garage with one new car released each week.
- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.
- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.

- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
It does not turn the PlayStation version into a Game Pass version
Forza Horizon 6 has an initial Xbox Series X|S and PC release, with Xbox Cloud Gaming listed by Xbox. A later PlayStation 5 release does not provide Game Pass access on PlayStation. Playing on PS5 is therefore a separate platform purchase and account arrangement rather than an Ultimate or PC Game Pass benefit.
It does not guarantee permanent catalog access
Game Pass catalog membership, cloud coverage, handheld support and regional availability are service details that can change. The inclusion described here reflects the launch information available on October 15, 2026. Check the live listing before starting a large download or changing subscriptions.

Cars, accessories and edition expectations
The Xbox Game Pass announcement describes Forza Horizon 6 as featuring over 550 real-world cars. That is a publisher description, not an independently verified count, and it describes the game rather than an extra quantity reserved for Game Pass subscribers.
An official promotion also documents a Forza Horizon 6 Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller. It is an optional accessory, not a requirement for Game Pass access. Retail stock and availability were not established, so check the current listing if you are specifically looking for that controller.
Troubleshooting common access problems
The game asks me to buy it
- Confirm that the signed-in account owns an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription.
- On Xbox, make sure you are using Ultimate; PC Game Pass is not the console entitlement described for Series X|S.
- On PC, open the Xbox app with the same account used for the subscription and select the Standard Edition listing.
- Check your region and the current catalog listing, since service availability can change.
I cannot find a cloud-play button
- Verify that the account has Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
- Check whether cloud gaming is supported for your device and location.
- Search the current cloud catalog rather than relying on an old shortcut or saved listing.
I expected to start on May 15
May 15 was Premium Edition early access. Standard Edition Game Pass access began May 19. To use the earlier date or premium content, purchase the Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade; an Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription alone does not provide those benefits.
I play on PS5
The PS5 release is outside the Game Pass access described by Xbox. Use the platform’s own purchase and account options instead of expecting an Ultimate or PC Game Pass license to transfer.
Bottom line
Forza Horizon 6 is on Xbox Game Pass: Ultimate covers Xbox Series X|S, cloud and listed handheld access, while PC Game Pass covers Windows PC through the Xbox app. The included game is the Standard Edition, available from May 19, 2026. Premium Edition early access and premium content remain paid upgrades, and a PS5 release does not become a Game Pass entitlement.
