Can you play custom Skate 3 parks on Xbox and PlayStation?

Yes, with important limits. Skate 3’s Skate.Park mode lets you build custom parks on the original Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions. Xbox One can run the Xbox 360 edition through backward compatibility. However, the available evidence does not confirm that EA’s community-park downloads still work today, and it does not establish cross-play or park transfers between Xbox and PlayStation.

Which consoles support Skate 3 custom parks?

Custom parks are part of Skate 3 itself, not a separate editor. Electronic Arts announced Skate 3 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with tools for creating and sharing player-made parks, videos and photos. The game’s Skate.Park feature supports layouts ranging from plaza-style spaces to large mega-ramp designs.

The clearest way to understand compatibility is to separate the console hardware from the game edition being run.

Xbox One is not running a separate native Xbox One version in this scenario. It is running the Xbox 360 edition using Microsoft’s backward-compatibility system. That distinction matters when you troubleshoot saves, downloadable content or online functions.

What you can do in Skate.Park mode

Build a park from the game’s tools

Skate.Park is the in-game creation mode for assembling a custom skating environment. EA’s product description specifically presents it as a way to make different kinds of spaces, including plazas and mega-ramp designs. You can therefore use it for a compact technical course, a large stunt-focused layout or something between those extremes.

The exact object list and controls depend on the edition and the items available on your installation. The important compatibility point is that creation happens inside Skate 3 on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, rather than through a modern companion application.

Save a park locally

A locally created park and an online community park are separate concerns. You can work on a design in Skate.Park mode and save it as part of your game experience even when online community services are unavailable. Local creation does not depend on another player’s upload remaining accessible.

Share designs, videos and photos

EA’s original Skate 3 announcement promoted sharing player-created parks along with videos and photos. That establishes the feature as part of the game’s launch-era design. It does not guarantee that every historical sharing endpoint, account function or download listing is still operating years later.

Playing on Xbox: Xbox 360 versus Xbox One

Xbox 360

On Xbox 360, use the Xbox 360 release of Skate 3. This is the platform for which the game was originally developed and marketed. Skate.Park creation belongs to that edition, so a compatible disc or digital license gives you the relevant game feature without needing a separate park editor.

Xbox One backward compatibility

Xbox Wire’s November 10, 2016 announcement identified Skate 3 as an Xbox 360 title available through Xbox One backward compatibility. On Xbox One, you are therefore accessing the older game through the compatibility layer, not buying a distinct Xbox One build.

This can affect expectations in three ways:

  • Graphics and menus: They remain those of the Xbox 360 game rather than a redesigned Xbox One edition.
  • Online functions: Backward compatibility does not create new servers or restore legacy community services that may no longer be available.
  • Content: Any downloadable content or add-on requirement belongs to the Xbox 360 version being run.

If your goal is simply to build a park, the backward-compatible Xbox One path is intended to provide the Xbox 360 game experience. If your goal is downloading an old community design, treat that as a separate service-availability question.

Playing on PlayStation

PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 version is the original PlayStation platform for Skate 3. Its Skate.Park mode supports the same basic type of player-created construction described by EA: build a custom space, then use the game’s sharing features where those services are available.

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5

The cited platform information does not establish that Skate 3 can be played natively on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. Do not assume that owning a newer PlayStation automatically provides access to the PS3 edition. Compatibility can depend on Sony’s specific catalog, store availability and account region, none of which is established by the Skate 3 platform descriptions.

For a confirmed PlayStation route, the documented choice is the PS3 edition. If you are considering a newer console, verify that the exact Skate 3 edition is supported before buying hardware or a digital copy.

Can Xbox and PlayStation players play Skate 3 together?

No official information cited here confirms cross-platform play between Xbox and PlayStation versions of Skate 3. The fact that both consoles had a Skate.Park mode does not mean that an Xbox 360 player can join a PS3 player in the same session.

There is also no established Xbox-to-PlayStation transfer path for custom parks. A park created on one platform should not be assumed to appear on the other platform’s save system or community listings. Keep the platform question separate from the creation question: both original consoles support making parks, while cross-console multiplayer and transfers remain unconfirmed.

Can you still download community parks?

The present-day status of user-uploaded or community parks is unresolved. EA’s launch announcement proves that park sharing was advertised historically, but it does not serve as a current service-status notice.

An EA forum thread from 2015 describes an Xbox 360 player who could not access community skate parks. That discussion mentioned the Skate Share Pack and checking whether the console store region matched the game region. Because the thread is old and is not an official current-status announcement, it should be treated as historical troubleshooting context only.

Installing a Share Pack, owning a physical copy or switching to Xbox One backward compatibility may be relevant to the original setup, but none of those actions guarantees that community downloads will work now. Availability may depend on whether the legacy service still accepts requests, the account and store region, and the specific content being requested.

How to choose a setup for your goal

Decide first whether you need creation, local play or online community content. The platform choice is straightforward for the first two goals, while the third cannot be promised from the documented information.

  1. For building your own park: Choose the Xbox 360 or PS3 edition. Xbox One is also an option when it runs the Xbox 360 edition through backward compatibility.
  2. For playing a locally saved design: Use the same console family and edition on which the park was created. Do not assume a PS3 save will move to Xbox or that a newer PlayStation can read it.
  3. For downloading another player’s park: Check the in-game community functions after installation, but regard success as uncertain. Historical sharing support is not proof of current access.
  4. For playing with someone on the other console family: Do not purchase on the assumption that Xbox and PlayStation users can join one Skate 3 session. Cross-play is not established.

Practical setup checklist

  • Confirm that you have the Xbox 360 or PS3 edition of Skate 3.
  • On Xbox One, confirm that you are launching the backward-compatible Xbox 360 game, not expecting a separate native Xbox One release.
  • Install the game and any edition-specific content supplied with your copy.
  • Open the game’s Skate.Park creation feature to build a test layout.
  • Save the design locally before attempting any upload or download function.
  • If you need a community park, test the relevant community option independently; do not treat successful local creation as proof that downloads are operating.

Saving a simple test park first gives you a useful baseline. If creation and local saving work but a community listing does not load, the problem is more likely related to the legacy online function than to the basic Skate.Park editor.

Troubleshooting community-park problems

The community list is empty or inaccessible

First, confirm that the game is the correct Xbox 360 or PS3 edition. On Xbox One, remember that backward compatibility is providing the Xbox 360 version. Then check whether the issue affects only community downloads or also local park creation. If local creation works, avoid deleting saves while investigating an online feature.

A Share Pack is requested

The 2015 EA forum discussion referred to the Skate Share Pack as part of an Xbox 360 community-park problem. It also discussed matching the store region to the game region. Those details can explain why an older installation might have failed, but they are not a current guarantee that obtaining the pack will restore service.

Store and disc regions do not match

Region mismatches were part of the historical troubleshooting advice. Check the region of a used disc, the account store and any downloadable content before spending money on add-ons. A mismatch can complicate access, but the available evidence does not establish a universal fix for present-day community downloads.

You expected cross-play

Do not diagnose a failed Xbox-to-PlayStation connection as a networking mistake until cross-play is proven for the specific game. No cited Skate 3 information confirms that feature, so the limitation may be by design rather than a setting you can enable.

Do not confuse Skate 3 with the newer Skate

EA’s current help article about cross-play concerns the newer game titled skate., not Skate 3. That article lists PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for the newer title. Its platform list and cross-play guidance cannot be used as evidence that Skate 3 has cross-play, cross-platform park sharing or modern server support.

When searching for help, include the number “3” and the console generation in your query. Instructions for the newer game may describe features, menus or services that do not exist in the Xbox 360/PS3 release.

Buying a copy for custom parks

A physical Xbox 360 copy is relevant if you plan to play on Xbox 360 or use Xbox One backward compatibility. Used copies can vary in condition, and buying the game alone does not guarantee access to community parks. The same principle applies to a PS3 copy: it provides the original game edition, but historical sharing support is not a promise that the online catalog remains available.

No separate park-editor tool or accessory is established as necessary. The creation feature is part of Skate 3’s Skate.Park mode. Before buying specifically for someone else’s uploaded design, treat current download access as an unresolved risk rather than a guaranteed feature.

What is confirmed and what remains uncertain

  • Confirmed: Skate 3 was released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
  • Confirmed: EA described player-created park building and sharing on those consoles.
  • Confirmed: Xbox One can run the Xbox 360 edition through backward compatibility.
  • Not established: Native PS4 or PS5 support for Skate 3.
  • Not established: Xbox-to-PlayStation cross-play or park transfers.
  • Not established: Whether legacy community-park downloads currently work by console, account or region.

That distinction gives you a reliable purchasing and setup decision: choose the original edition or Xbox One backward compatibility for Skate.Park creation, but verify community access only after installation and never assume that the newer Skate’s cross-play rules apply to Skate 3.
