Yes—Bloodborne can be tried on Linux through shadPS4, an early PlayStation 4 emulator. It runs the PS4 game through emulation; it is not a native Linux or PC port, and the project does not promise smooth or flawless play. Despite the original headline’s wording, shadPS4 does not establish that the whole game runs “directly on your CPU”: its published requirements also call for a Vulkan-capable GPU.
Can you play Bloodborne on Linux?
shadPS4’s project materials list Bloodborne among the games it can run, but that does not mean every configuration works reliably. The maintainers describe the emulator as early in development and warn that games which do work can still have emulation issues. The game is being emulated from its PS4 version, rather than running as software made for Linux.

Compatibility depends on details such as operating system, game serial (region), game version, emulator build and settings. Bloodborne has at least two serials in the project’s compatibility-reporting rules: CUSA00900 and CUSA03173. The official database is the place to check for a report matching your setup, but its current entries should be verified directly before you begin; a usable, current Linux-specific status is not established here.

What PC specs does shadPS4 require?
The official quick-start guide lists these minimums. They are baseline requirements for the emulator, not a guarantee that Bloodborne will play smoothly:

Keep your graphics drivers current, as the guide recommends. Meeting these requirements only indicates that a system meets the published minimum; the guide does not give a Bloodborne-specific performance target.

How do you run Bloodborne on Linux with shadPS4?
The project recommends QtLauncher as the graphical setup option. You will need to provide your own legally obtained game files; shadPS4 does not bundle Bloodborne.

- Check your system and compatibility. Compare your CPU, GPU, Vulkan support, RAM and Linux version with the minimums above. Check the official compatibility database for your operating system and Bloodborne serial before investing time in setup.
- Download the launcher. Follow the quick-start guide to obtain
shadPS4QtLauncher-qt.AppImage, then launch the AppImage on Linux. The launcher can use stable or nightly emulator builds. - Dump your own game files. Use a copy of Bloodborne that you own and dump it from your PS4. The guide also calls for game updates and DLC to be dumped from your own copy if you intend to use them. Organize the game files by the CUSA serial and add the relevant folder to the launcher’s install path.
- Extract required firmware modules if needed. Some modules must be extracted from a legally owned PS4. Follow the project guide for the applicable files and setup; do not download game or firmware files from unofficial sources.
- Select a build and try the game. Choose a stable or nightly build in QtLauncher, then launch the installed game. If it fails or behaves incorrectly, compare your serial, game version, build and settings with current compatibility reports rather than assuming the issue is simply CPU speed.
The project requests unmodified game dumps and prohibits piracy. Its repository and quick-start guide provide the setup details; use the compatibility database to check for changes before trying a particular build.

Is shadPS4 a better option than a PS4?
There is no evidence here for a universal winner. A PS4 plays the game on its original platform; shadPS4 adds the work of setting up an emulator, supplying game files and matching your system to a build with suitable compatibility. On a PC, the experience also depends on the particular CPU and Vulkan GPU, and available graphics options may differ from the original hardware. If you already own the game and a PS4, that console is the more direct route; shadPS4 is an experimental alternative for people willing to troubleshoot and accept uncertainty.
