Yes—if The Washington Post bills you directly, you can cancel a digital or print subscription online through My Post. Print subscribers can also schedule a temporary vacation hold. Which Washington Post subscription changes can you make online?

How to cancel a direct Washington Post digital subscription
1. Confirm who bills you
Before changing anything, identify the billing channel. A subscription purchased directly from The Washington Post is managed in My Post. A subscription purchased through an app store or another partner is controlled by that provider, even if you read the newspaper in Washington Post apps or on the website. The provider’s account page is therefore the correct place to cancel a third-party subscription.
2. Sign in to My Post
Open your Washington Post account’s My Post area and go to subscription management. The Help Center says, “You can cancel your subscription at any time.” Use the profile associated with the paid subscription; signing in with a different email address can show no subscription or the wrong plan.

3. Select the base subscription’s cancellation control
Follow the subscription-management prompts to cancel the main digital plan. If you have purchased an add-on, look under Subscription & Billing and use its Manage or Cancel button. An add-on is separate from the base plan: canceling the add-on does not cancel the underlying Washington Post subscription.
4. Check the effective date before confirming
For an ordinary recurring subscription, cancellation stops future charges rather than reversing the current period. The Help Center explains that charging stops “the following billing cycle,” while the digital-product terms say cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Digital access therefore normally remains available until the period you already paid for ends.
5. Save the confirmation
Keep the confirmation screen or message and note the displayed end date. If a renewal charge appears after the stated cancellation date, contact Customer Care with the account email, the confirmation, and the charge details. Do not cancel an add-on alone if your intention is to end the complete subscription.
How to cancel a print or home-delivery subscription
Use the exact My Post path
For home delivery, same-day mail, or WP Weekly, sign in to My Post, choose Manage subscription, and select Cancel my subscription. Follow the confirmation prompts until the site states that the request is complete.

Understand what ordinary cancellation does
Cancellation is different from skipping a few deliveries. It ends the subscription’s future service under the account terms. The digital-product terms state that cancellation applies only to future charges associated with the subscription and that the current billing period is generally nonrefundable. If your account is billed by a partner rather than directly, that partner’s cancellation and refund policy controls instead.
What if you want to keep reading online?
A print cancellation may also end the associated paid benefits when the subscription period concludes. If your goal is only to stop papers while traveling, use the vacation-stop feature described below instead of canceling the plan.
How to pause print delivery with a vacation hold
The Washington Post documents an online vacation-stop workflow for print subscribers. This is a temporary delivery suspension, not a pause that extends the paid term.

- Sign in to My Post.
- Open Subscription and Billing.
- Choose Manage or cancel.
- Select Manage vacation stops.
- Enter the dates for which delivery should stop, then save the request.

Know the financial and access effects
The Washington Post states: “Please note that your subscription will not be credited/extended when you suspend delivery, but you will continue to have full digital access to all Washington Post content through our website and apps during your temporary stop.” In practical terms, the newspaper is withheld for the dates you enter, the paid term does not gain extra days, and online reading remains available.
When a vacation hold is the wrong choice
- Choose cancellation if you no longer want the subscription to renew.
- Choose a vacation stop if you expect to resume print delivery and only need a temporary break.
- Contact Customer Care if you need a delivery-address change rather than a date-limited hold.
Can you transfer a Washington Post subscription to someone else?
The official Help Center and terms reviewed do not provide an online transfer process for changing the account holder or moving a paid subscription to another person. That means there is no documented My Post button or published self-service sequence that transfers ownership, billing responsibility, or the remaining paid term.
Do not confuse sharing with transferring
The Help Center lists sharing options, but sharing access is different from transferring the subscription. A shared login or permitted sharing feature does not by itself change the name on the account, the person responsible for payment, or the contractual subscriber. The terms also state that credits are not transferable.

Contact support for the specific situation
Ask Washington Post Customer Care when the issue involves a move, a gift, another household member, a deceased subscriber, a billing-provider change, or a request to put delivery in someone else’s name. Explain whether you need a new delivery address, temporary access, a gift subscription, or a change in billing. Support can tell you which arrangement is available; do not assume that canceling and opening a new account will preserve unused value, because current-period fees are generally nonrefundable and credits are not transferable.

What changes when a third party bills you?
Subscriptions started through Apple, Amazon, Google Play, or another partner are subject to that provider’s procedures and terms. The Washington Post cannot provide a single universal cancellation path for those purchases in My Post. Open the store or partner account that displays the recurring charge, locate the Washington Post subscription, and use its cancellation controls. The exact labels, notice period, renewal date, and refund treatment can differ by provider.
If you are unsure who billed you, check the receipt or bank statement for the merchant name, then sign in to the matching provider account. Canceling access in a Washington Post app does not necessarily cancel a store-managed subscription; the recurring billing agreement must be ended with the provider that created it.
How timing, access, and refunds work
Cancellation before the next renewal
The current digital-product terms say recurring subscriptions can be canceled in My Post before the next billing period. The ordinary result is that future charges stop and access continues through the paid period already in progress.

The terms state: “Cancellation only applies to future charges associated with your subscription, and you will not receive a refund for the current Billing Period.” Do not interpret the cancellation confirmation as a promise of a prorated refund. Ask Customer Care about any exceptional circumstance rather than assuming unused days will be reimbursed.
Free trials
A free-trial cancellation may take effect immediately, unlike a paid recurring plan that normally runs to the end of its current period. Read the confirmation page for the account-specific effective date.
Print holds
A vacation stop changes delivery dates, not the billing term. The subscription is not credited or extended, and full digital access continues during the stop.
Troubleshooting when the online option is missing
- No subscription appears: sign out and try the email address used for the receipt; you may be in the wrong My Post profile.
- There is no cancel button: check whether Apple, Amazon, Google Play, or another partner is the merchant. Use that provider’s subscription settings.
- You can manage an add-on but not the plan: the add-on’s Manage or Cancel control is separate from the base subscription.
- A vacation stop cannot be saved: verify that the request meets the published cutoff—before 5 p.m. the day before for daily and Sunday delivery, or before 5 p.m. Friday for Sunday-only delivery.
- You need a transfer: no online transfer workflow is documented. Contact Customer Care and describe the ownership, address, gift, or billing change you need.
- A charge continues after cancellation: retain the confirmation and contact support with the date, account email, and transaction information.

The Help Center lists 24/7 chat, email, and phone support at 1-800-477-4679. The stated phone hours are Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Eastern Time, and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m.–12 p.m. Eastern Time. The digital-product terms also list [email protected] and a customer-care contact route.
Have your account email, subscription type, billing merchant, requested effective date, and any confirmation number ready. Those details help support distinguish a direct-billed account from a partner-billed one and determine whether you are asking for cancellation, a vacation stop, an address change, or a transfer-like arrangement.
