Potentially—but a music license alone does not guarantee that YouTube will let a 24/7 music stream stay live or that the channel will earn ad revenue. You need rights covering the specific recordings and compositions, live broadcasts, territories, and any archived replay. The rights holders may also need to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist, and your channel must independently meet YouTube’s monetization policies.
Four separate checks determine whether the stream can earn
“Licensed” is not a single all-purpose clearance. Treat these as separate questions before putting an Indian music channel on air:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Do you have the right music permissions? Confirm coverage for each song’s sound recording and composition, the intended territories, continuous live transmission, and any replay archive.
- Can YouTube identify the music without interrupting the broadcast? Ask the relevant rights holders or administrators to allowlist your channel in Content ID.
- Can you keep or monetize the archived replay? A live-use permission may not cover the saved video; Content ID claims can arrive after the broadcast ends.
- Does the channel qualify for monetization? Rights clearance does not establish YouTube Partner Program eligibility or guarantee a favorable channel review.
What a music license needs to cover
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to hold the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of the live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. That platform requirement does not determine which specific Indian licenses or contracts apply to a particular song or channel. YouTube Livestream terms and conditions.

Check both the recording and the composition
For every track, identify the sound recording and the underlying composition, then confirm that the permissions you have cover the uses you intend. A permission for one layer should not be assumed to clear the other.

Confirm territories and continuous live use
Ask the rights holder or its administrator to confirm that the permission covers your planned territories and a continuous YouTube live broadcast. A contract or license should be checked on its own terms; the fact that music is licensed, or that a stream is territory-restricted, does not by itself establish that YouTube will allow it to continue.
Decide whether the replay will remain available
Confirm separately whether your rights cover the archived live video. YouTube says an archived stream may receive Content ID claims after it ends, so live permission should not be treated as automatic permission for the replay. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.

Why a licensed stream can still be interrupted
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. If identified content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. It specifically advises creators who have licensed third-party material to ask the owner to add their channel to the owner’s Content ID allowlist. Without that step, a stream can still be interrupted—even if it is restricted to certain territories. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBefore going live
- Contact each relevant rights holder or its administrator and request Content ID allowlisting for the channel.
- Provide the channel identifier they need and obtain written confirmation that the appropriate channel is allowlisted.
- Keep records of the permissions and allowlisting confirmations alongside your track-by-track rights inventory.
If YouTube flags music during the broadcast
Respond to YouTube’s warning by promptly removing or replacing the identified content. YouTube warns that if the content remains, the live stream may be interrupted or terminated. Allowlisting reduces a known operational risk; it is not a substitute for the underlying rights.

Check monetization separately from copyright permission
YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams, and channels are reviewed for policy compliance, including originality and repetitive-content rules. A license proves neither that the channel is eligible for the YouTube Partner Program nor that its content will pass review. A continuous feed of music with little original contribution may raise a separate policy question even when the music is properly licensed. Review the current YouTube channel monetization policies and assess the channel itself before relying on revenue from the stream.
Keep the distinction clear: copyright permission concerns whether you may use the music; channel monetization review concerns whether YouTube will allow that channel to monetize under its policies. Neither outcome guarantees the other.

Creator Music is not a live-stream clearance route
YouTube says Creator Music tracks available for licensing or revenue sharing can be used in long-form videos, not live streams. The feature therefore is not a shortcut for clearing music in a 24/7 broadcast. YouTube’s help page describes availability for U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program and says expansion outside the U.S. is pending; availability and track terms can change. Check YouTube Creator Music information for current details.
A pre-launch checklist for an Indian music channel
- List every track. Record the song, recording version, and relevant rights holders or administrators.
- Verify the permissions. Confirm rights for the recording and composition, the intended territories, continuous live use, and the archive if you plan to retain it.
- Request Content ID allowlisting. Have each relevant owner confirm that the correct channel is allowlisted before the stream starts.
- Review the channel’s monetization status. Check YouTube’s current channel policies and eligibility requirements independently of the music licenses.
- Monitor the live broadcast and replay. Be ready to remove or replace flagged content during the stream, then check the archive for later Content ID claims.
The exact rights needed, whether a rights holder will allowlist your channel, and whether a particular channel will qualify for monetization depend on its songs, contracts, territories, and content. Confirm these details with the rights holders and in YouTube Studio before launch.
