No UPI payment feature has been confirmed for JioFrames. Reliance Jio’s announcement described AI assistance, cameras, cloud storage and open-ear audio, but did not mention UPI or payment authentication. Meta has separately announced a forthcoming UPI Lite QR-payment feature for its own AI glasses; that is not a JioFrames feature.
Does JioFrames support UPI payments?
It is unconfirmed. In its 29 August 2025 AGM announcement, Reliance introduced JioFrames as an AI-powered wearable platform but did not list UPI, QR payments or payment authentication among its features. That means the announcement is not evidence that JioFrames can scan a payment QR code or authorize a transaction.

JioFrames is the name Reliance used for its smart-glasses platform. The announced functions included voice assistance, camera capture, cloud storage and open-ear audio. These are company-announced capabilities, not results from an independent hands-on test. (Reliance Industries AGM transcript, 29 August 2025)

Why Meta’s UPI announcement is not a JioFrames feature
Meta’s India newsroom described a separate UPI Lite QR-payment feature for its own AI glasses. The company said users would be able to look at a QR code and say, “Hey Meta, scan and pay,” with payment through a WhatsApp-linked bank account. Meta stated a limit of less than ₹1,000 per payment and described the feature as forthcoming/testing. (Meta Newsroom, 14 October 2025)

This is a Meta announcement, not evidence that JioFrames has the same function. A QR-payment feature also does not by itself show how a wearable handles confirmation, security or failed transactions; Meta’s announcement is the source for its stated interaction and limit.

The Indian Express reported on 29 August 2025 that Reliance had not disclosed public availability or pricing when it announced JioFrames. The available launch-era reporting does not establish a current retail launch, and a Jio product-page fetch redirected to a page-not-found result; that failed page fetch alone does not prove the product is discontinued or unavailable. What to conclude before buying
If UPI payments are the deciding feature, do not assume JioFrames supports them: Reliance’s announcement did not confirm payments. Meta’s separately announced UPI Lite feature applies to Meta glasses and was described as forthcoming/testing, not as a JioFrames capability. JioFrames’ current retail availability and price are also not established by the cited launch-era reporting.
