Yes, but only as an inconsistent, emergent interaction. In GTA 5 Story Mode, lightly provoke one pedestrian, keep the agitated character close to another pedestrian, then move out of the way so a shove or attack can connect. The second pedestrian may fight back, run away, attack you instead, or attract police attention. There is no guaranteed button combination that makes any two pedestrians fight on PS5, PS4, or Xbox.
What the console trick actually does
Pedestrians in GTA 5 react to nearby threats according to their individual AI state, the surrounding traffic, police activity and available space. You are not activating a hidden “pedestrian fight” command. You are creating a situation in which one non-player character (NPC) is already agitated and another NPC is close enough to become involved.

The most reliable sequence is to find two pedestrians together, irritate one of them with a very light bump or strike, guide the angry NPC toward the other person, and then leave the contact area. If you remain between them, both characters can redirect their aggression toward you. Even with good positioning, the result is not guaranteed.

How to start a pedestrian fight on PS5, PS4, or Xbox
1. Load Story Mode and choose a busy location
Start a single-player Story Mode session rather than GTA Online. Look for two pedestrians standing or walking close together in a busy street, plaza or other populated area. A larger crowd gives you more replacement targets if the first attempt fails, but traffic and bystanders can also interrupt the interaction.
- Choose an open area where the two NPCs can move around each other.
- Avoid narrow alleys, stairwells and locations where vehicles constantly cut through the group.
- Keep enough distance from police, mission markers and hostile gangs that an accidental escalation will not derail your game.
2. Provoke only one pedestrian
Lightly bump or strike one pedestrian once. The goal is to trigger an angry reaction, not to knock the character down or create a wanted level immediately. Let the NPC finish reacting before you try to move the encounter toward the second pedestrian.
If the character simply walks away, runs immediately or focuses only on your character, abandon that pair and try another. Different pedestrian models and circumstances produce different reactions, and there is no published success rate for the trick.
3. Keep the agitated NPC beside the second pedestrian
Move around the pair so the angry NPC remains close to the uninvolved pedestrian. You are trying to make the first shove, swing or chase path overlap the second character’s position. Do not keep attacking repeatedly; excessive contact can cause both NPCs to target you or can trigger police attention before the second pedestrian reacts.
Open space helps because the agitated character can complete an animation and the other pedestrian has room to respond. If the two NPCs are separated by a parked car, curb, wall or traffic lane, reposition and try again.

4. Step away from the contact point
Once the first NPC is within arm’s reach of the second, move away rather than standing between them. Remaining in the middle often causes both characters to chase or strike the player. Back away far enough to leave their immediate targeting area, but not so far that the angry NPC loses interest or the pair despawns.
Watch for the first clear outcome: the second pedestrian fights back, both characters flee, one attacks you, or police begin responding. If they separate without exchanging blows, you can repeat the setup with another nearby pair.

Why the result is inconsistent
The game does not treat “make these two pedestrians fight” as a scripted console activity. The interaction depends on real-time AI decisions, so the same movement can produce different results. Traffic may push one NPC away, another bystander may become the new target, or a character may decide that fleeing is safer than fighting.
- One NPC attacks you: You are still the closest perceived threat. Move farther away and stop making contact.
- Both NPCs run: The aggression state may have expired, or the characters may have selected flight behavior. Find a different pair.
- Police arrive: A punch, collision or nearby disturbance may have been reported. Leave the area, lose the wanted level, and try again in a quieter location.
- Traffic breaks up the group: Move to a plaza or sidewalk with fewer vehicles and more standing pedestrians.
- The first NPC loses interest: You may have moved too far away or taken too long. Repeat the provocation with a fresh pair.
There is no independent published statistic establishing how often a console attempt succeeds. Treat successful fights as opportunities created by the AI, not as a repeatable feature with a known probability.
PS5, PS4, and Xbox: what changes?
| Platform | Can the unmodded method be attempted? | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Yes, in Story Mode | Use the provoke, reposition and retreat sequence. The PS5 version includes Story Mode and supports DualSense features; neither adds a guaranteed fight command. |
| PS4 | Yes, in Story Mode | The same AI-driven interaction is available. Performance, crowds and traffic can vary by scene, so outcomes remain inconsistent. |
| Xbox One | Yes, in Story Mode | Use the same approach and expect the same lack of control over who fights or whether either NPC flees. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes, in Story Mode | Current Xbox versions support the unmodded interaction, but platform updates do not turn it into a guaranteed feature. |

Story Mode versus GTA Online
Story Mode is the appropriate place to try this experiment. It is a local single-player environment where the pedestrian AI can be observed without affecting other players. Make a manual save before experimenting if you are near a mission, valuable vehicle or wanted-level situation.
Do not treat third-party scripts or mod menus as a supported GTA Online technique. The unmodded provoke-and-redirect behavior is not a reliable way to stage battles in an online session, and PC modifications designed to spawn or control NPCs are not console features. Using unauthorized tools online can also put an account at risk, so keep any experimentation to an offline, unmodded Story Mode session.
Is there a cheat or button combination?
No documented PS5, PS4 or Xbox control sequence guarantees a pedestrian-versus-pedestrian fight. Cheat codes can alter many aspects of GTA 5, but the console method described here is not a universal “make peds fight” cheat. Pressing a particular attack button, switching characters or repeating a fixed sequence cannot force every pair to engage.
Be careful with videos that present one exact sequence as certain. A demonstration may depend on a specific location, pedestrian pair, traffic pattern or timing that is not reproduced in your session. If a method claims to create a whole crowd fight without mods on a console, it is describing an emergent chain of AI reactions rather than a guaranteed game feature.

You may occasionally see several NPCs become hostile during a chaotic scene, but you cannot reliably select a crowd and order it to fight as a group on PS5, PS4 or Xbox. Starting with one pair can lead to nearby bystanders joining, fleeing or attacking the player, yet the chain is unpredictable and usually ends when characters disperse, traffic intervenes or law enforcement arrives.

For a crowd experiment, work in a broad pedestrian area, provoke only one character at a time and keep your distance after each escalation. Expect to restart repeatedly; the game does not provide a crowd-control menu for this purpose.
What PC mods can do that consoles cannot
PC users have access to modding workflows that are fundamentally different from the console trick. A Random Fight Events .NET setup can automatically or manually spawn groups of two to six fighters. Technical scripting tutorials also demonstrate spawned pedestrian groups using tasks such as FightAgainst. Those systems create repeatable participants and behaviors through external files or scripts.
| Approach | Reliability and repeatability | Participant control | Setup | Platforms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unmodded provoke-and-redirect | Low; outcomes vary by AI state and surroundings | Little control; either NPC may flee or attack the player | None beyond finding a suitable pair | PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC |
| PC scripted fight event | Higher; designed to repeat configured events | Can spawn and manage groups, including two to six fighters in the cited setup | Requires PC mod files, compatible versions and configuration | PC only |
The two-to-six figure belongs to the PC mod configuration, not to normal console behavior. Installing a PC script does not provide a method that can be transferred to PS5, PS4 or Xbox, whose console versions do not expose the required modding workflow.
How to recover when the experiment goes wrong
- If you become the target, stop attacking and run out of the immediate contact area. Breaking line of sight often lets the NPC return to normal behavior.
- If a wanted level appears, leave the disturbance zone. Do not continue provoking pedestrians while police are searching.
- If the pair separates, do not chase them through traffic. Find another pair in a safer, more open location.
- If a mission starts or a scripted scene interrupts, finish or cancel the activity before trying again. Mission AI can override ordinary pedestrian behavior.
- If the area becomes empty, move several blocks away and return. New pedestrians can then populate the location.
Bottom line for console players
On PS5, PS4 and Xbox, you can sometimes make pedestrians fight by provoking one NPC, maneuvering that character close to another pedestrian and stepping away. It is an emergent Story Mode trick, not a cheat, command or guaranteed feature. Use open, populated areas; accept that either NPC may flee or attack you; and do not expect repeatable multi-fighter battles without PC-only modding.
