The safest approach is to treat every inventory action as permanent until the live client clearly offers a reversal. Check the pet’s Index entry, current income role and any planned merge before selling; deliver valuable animals quickly during a steal run; and inspect your base after being offline.

How pets can leave your control
The official Roblox description for Break and Steal an Egg presents a loop of breaking eggs, hatching animals, stealing them, escaping guards, placing them in your base to earn cash, expanding your satchel, upgrading speed and pickaxe, and completing the Index. That description explains the game’s progression, but it does not publish a trading rule, a sale-recovery policy, hatch odds or a complete official pet roster.

These are different failure modes. A confirmed sale is your own inventory action; base theft is an attack on an animal already delivered; and a guardian drop occurs before delivery. The practical response differs for each one.

What happens when you sell a pet?
The documented interface is a manual sale flow. A narrator’s use of the words “auto sell” is not proof that the game automatically disposes of animals. The footage showed the player choosing animals and explicitly confirming the transaction.
Manual Sell steps
- Open your pet inventory.
- Enter the Sell view.
- Select one or more pets.
- Review the displayed Value for the current server.
- Press Confirm only after checking the selection.
BreakStealEgg.wiki’s October 12, 2026 guide says the reviewed interface showed no undo, recovery or buy-back control. Its wording is deliberately cautious: treat the action as irreversible because no recovery control was visible in the footage. That is not the same as a published developer promise that restoration is impossible in every future version, so check the current client before relying on any old video.
Checks to make before Confirm
- Active income: make sure the selected animal is not contributing a large share of the cash your current lineup generates.
- Index progress: verify that the species is already recorded if collection completion matters to you. Selling a duplicate is safer than selling your only recorded example, but confirm the live Index state first.
- Merge plans: reserve animals needed for a planned three-pet merge. A duplicate that looks weak may be the exact material a merge machine requires.
- Mutation or unusual value: keep an animal when its mutation, rarity or income is unclear. Do not infer value from a narrator’s claim or from a different server.
- Selection accuracy: expand the list and read each chosen name before confirming. Cancel if the list is difficult to verify.
The Value shown in the current server is the relevant number for the decision. A guide, screenshot or older clip can be out of date after an update, so do not treat a remembered price as a guaranteed payout.
Can another player steal a pet from your base?
According to the independent defense guide last checked October 1, 2026, players can steal animals from bases. The guide identifies the Bat as the reported countermeasure. It also says that choosing a quieter server lowers exposure but does not eliminate the risk.

Protecting animals already delivered
- Use the reported Bat defense when it is available in your current client.
- Prefer a less crowded server when protecting a valuable animal, while remembering that “quieter” is risk reduction, not a guarantee.
- After returning from an offline period, inspect the base and confirm that important animals are still present.
- Do not leave a high-value animal exposed while you attend to unrelated tasks.
A base theft is not the same as a failed sale. The guide describes the other player taking the animal, so searching the Sell screen or expecting a sale receipt will not explain that loss.
What if a guard catches you carrying an animal?
The defense guide identifies a second loss point during a steal run. A zone guardian can hit the player, causing the carried animal to drop. The animal remains at the place where it fell, rather than being safely delivered to your base.
Reducing guardian-drop losses
- Deliver valuable animals promptly instead of making unnecessary stops.
- Plan a direct route away from the guarded zone before picking up the animal.
- Use your speed upgrades and satchel capacity deliberately; carrying more animals can increase the value at risk on one run.
- If you are hit, return to the drop location and check whether the animal is still there before starting another theft attempt.
This behavior comes from a community guide, not an official guarantee of every guardian’s range or damage pattern. Treat the exact route, timing and counterplay as update-sensitive and verify them in the current server.
Is pet trading available?
No researched source confirms a player-to-player pet trading system as of October 18, 2026. The pets-systems guide lists whether animals can be traded between players as an unverified fact, and the defense guide also leaves trading open.

That means you should not promise that a trade exists, assume a deal can be reversed, or hand over an animal because another player says a trade window is coming. Look for a clearly labeled trading control in the current client or an official developer announcement. A chat request, a video title or a third-party claim is not confirmation of a supported system.
Should you sell or merge a duplicate?
A duplicate is not automatically disposable. The systems guide reports an initial pen capacity of eight animals and offline Cash generation. An animal that is not equipped can still matter for income, Index completion or a future merge.

- Open the Index and confirm whether the species is already recorded.
- Check whether the animal is equipped or responsible for meaningful current income.
- Check your merge plan and read the live preview before committing any matching animals.
- Compare the current server’s displayed Value with the benefit of keeping the animal for income, collection or merging.
- Only then open Sell, recheck every selected name and press Confirm.
If the pen is full, capacity pressure does not remove the need for these checks. The reported eight-animal starting capacity can change with updates, and a duplicate may be more useful than its immediate sale Value.
How many pets exist, and which figures can change?
An Eldorado Blog list from 2026 reports 92 pets: 86 regular animals across 10 zones plus six Fallen Angel store pets. That is a third-party list, not an official roster, so treat it as a snapshot rather than a permanent total.

The defense guide reports up to seven players per server. Because that number also comes from an independent 2026 guide, check the current server interface if crowding affects your theft-risk decision. The official game description does not publish a complete pet count, server limit, sale policy or income table.
What to do after a pet disappears
If you confirmed a sale
Reopen the inventory and verify that the pet is gone and that the transaction Value was applied. Do not assume a delayed undo button exists. The reviewed footage showed no recovery control, and no published restoration guarantee was identified.

If the base was attacked
Inspect the base, identify which animal is missing and review your defensive setup. Reconnect to a quieter server only as a risk-reduction step; it does not restore an animal already taken.
If a guardian caused a drop
Return to the route and search the location where the animal fell. The defense guide says the animal stays where it was dropped, so it may still be recoverable in the same run. Avoid assuming that a reset, teleport or server change will preserve it.
If the cause is unclear
Record the animal’s name, mutation, location, server and the action immediately before it vanished. Then check the current client’s inventory, Index and base views. Because no official restoration policy is established, contact the game’s current support channel only with those concrete details rather than expecting an automatic refund.
What is officially established?
The official Roblox page establishes the break, hatch, steal, escape, base-income and Index loop. The manual Sell behavior, base theft and guardian drop are documented by independent guides and reviewed footage, with the latter two described as community observations. Trading, sale recovery, hatch odds and a complete official pet table remain unconfirmed in the available published information.
