Yes, but only before you claim it. The Championship Belt (the wrestling belt relic) does not save the Totenreich relic hunt between runs. If the game ends before you complete the four-wave trial and pick up the belt, you must redo the setup, all kill counters and the trial in a new game. Once you pick up the belt, it becomes an account-level unlock for Cursed Mode and Cursed Survival on every map. Normal gameplay has not shown a way to delete that unlock or make you reacquire it.
The most important order rule is at the lighthouse: collect the Mr. Peeks magazine before taking the Jotunn Star. Taking the wonder weapon first removes the magazine for that game, so the reliable recovery is to restart immediately.

What happens if you lose the wrestling belt hunt?
There are two very different meanings of “lose.” Losing an unfinished attempt is possible because Totenreich relic progress is not stored when a run ends. Losing an already claimed belt has not been shown in ordinary play.

- A weapon disappears during the trial: that is an intentional trial rule, not deletion of the relic. Your weapons are removed after each wave, while perks, augments and your field upgrade remain.
- You have already picked up the belt: the account unlock persists for Cursed Mode and Cursed Survival on every map. Equip it again from the relic menu if it is not currently selected.
Guides covering the solved quest do not describe a normal menu action, death, map change or failed trial that removes a claimed belt. Exceptional cases such as account rollback, platform unlinking, bans or server-side entitlement recovery are not established, so they should not be treated as ordinary reacquisition methods.

When is the Championship Belt permanently unlocked?
The unlock occurs when you clear the four-wave relic trial and physically pick up the Championship Belt at the end. Reaching the portal, completing the kill counters or surviving part of the trial does not grant the account unlock by itself.
After the pickup, the belt is available on the account in both Cursed Mode and Cursed Survival, regardless of which map you load. You do not need to repeat the 17 wall-buy challenges for each map or each mode. If the belt is missing from your active setup, open the relic menu and equip it; that is a selection change, not a new unlock attempt.
Complete unlock route, in the order that works
The route below reflects the solved Totenreich method documented in October 2026. It is a single-run challenge: plan to finish every step before leaving the game.
- Finish the Totenreich main Easter Egg. The account must have completed the main Easter Egg before the relic route is available.
- Load Cursed Mode. Begin the relic setup from the mode where the Totenreich side quest is active.
- Run the Jotunn Star quest to the lighthouse. At the lighthouse, pick up the Mr. Peeks magazine first. Do not take the Jotunn Star before the magazine is in your inventory.
- Complete all 18 kill counters. Get 50 kills with each of the 17 wall-buy weapons and 50 kills with the Jotunn Star.
- Enter the portal. When every counter reaches 50, the portal appears beside the Arsenal in Eidskallen Square.
- Clear the four-wave trial. Expect your weapons to be taken at the end of every wave. Perks, augments and the field upgrade carry over.
- Pick up the Championship Belt. This final pickup changes the reward into an account-level relic unlock.
The exact kill requirements

Mystery Box weapons, loadout weapons and weapons supplied by teammates do not satisfy the wall-buy counters. Buy the required gun from its wall location, then make the kills with that copy. The solve was confirmed on October 16, 2026 after a script check found 18 separate counters, each requiring at least 50 kills.

Why the 900-kill total matters
The total is a planning figure, not a separate objective. You are completing 17 individual 50-kill checks plus one 50-kill Jotunn Star check. A run can appear nearly finished while one weapon remains below 50, and the portal will not appear until that last counter is complete. Track weapons individually rather than assuming the overall total is enough.
The Mr. Peeks magazine and Jotunn Star order
The lighthouse sequence has a hard failure state. Collect the Mr. Peeks magazine before taking the Jotunn Star. If you take the wonder weapon first, the magazine disappears for that game and later kills will not start the required counters.
If you took Jotunn Star first
Do not spend the rest of the run trying to force the counters. Restart that game and begin the lighthouse step again in a fresh run. The restart is necessary because the missing magazine cannot be recovered during the affected game, according to the documented route.
If the magazine is in your inventory
Proceed to the Jotunn Star pickup, then begin the 18 counter challenge. Keep the magazine-order check separate from the kill-count check: a full set of kills cannot compensate for taking the two lighthouse items in the wrong order.

What the four-wave trial takes away
The trial removes your weapons at the end of every wave. This can look like the game erased your progress, especially when a preferred gun or the Jotunn Star is gone, but it is a trial modifier and does not delete the belt or any account relic.
What carries over
- Perks remain active.
- Weapon augments remain active.
- Your field upgrade remains available.
How to prepare for each reset
Bank Essence before entering and during the trial. After each wave, buy a replacement from a wall location and pay for Pack-a-Punch again as needed. The practical cost is the Essence required for those replacement guns and upgrades, so entering with no reserve can leave you underpowered even though the trial itself is functioning correctly.

The key boundary is the final pickup. Everything before it belongs to the current run; the belt itself becomes persistent only after you claim it.

The game ended before you picked up the belt
Assume the entire relic attempt was lost. Load a new run, repeat the Totenreich setup, collect the magazine before Jotunn Star, complete all 900 kills and clear the trial again. There is no documented checkpoint that restores the counters.

You died or quit during the trial
Partial waves do not preserve the attempt. Restart the setup and trial in one sitting. Reserve Essence in the replacement-buy phases so the weapon resets do not become the reason the next attempt fails.
Your weapons vanished after a wave
Continue rather than abandoning the run. The removal is expected. Use wall buys for the next weapon and spend Essence on Pack-a-Punch; perks, augments and the field upgrade should still be available.
The belt was already claimed but is not equipped
Open the relic menu and select the Championship Belt again. The documented behavior is account-level availability across maps, so an unequipped belt is not evidence that the unlock was lost.
Why players thought the relic was bugged
The combination of unsaved counters, the magazine-order trap and wave-by-wave weapon removal can make a successful run look broken. Treyarch was quoted by COD Central on June 4, 2026 saying the relic was “not bugged and never was.” That statement matches the route’s intended behavior: progress is deliberately run-bound until the final pickup, and the trial deliberately strips weapons between waves.
The solve date recorded by COD Central was October 16, 2026. Its script check identified 18 counters with a minimum of 50 kills each, which explains why a run can fail even when most weapons appear complete.
Can you reacquire the belt after losing access?
For ordinary gameplay, you should not need to reacquire it. Once claimed, the belt is described as an account unlock usable in Cursed Mode and Cursed Survival on every map. The documented recovery action is to equip it again from the relic menu.
There is no established in-game procedure for recovering an entitlement after an account rollback, ban, platform unlink or server-side data problem. Those situations fall outside the normal quest behavior; do not assume that repeating the 900 kills will repair an account-level service issue.
