Yes—if your iPhone is physically in a supported region and meets that region’s minimum iOS version. Epic currently supports iPhone installation in the European Union, Japan and Brazil. iPad support is narrower: the Epic Games Store is currently available on iPad in the EU only.
The result depends on three things together: your device type, your physical location and the software version installed on that device. A newer iPhone does not make the store available in an unsupported country, and being in a supported country does not bypass that country’s iOS minimum.

Where can you install the Epic Games Store on an iPhone?
Epic’s current iOS availability is determined by both your location and your device software. On iPhone, Epic lists three supported markets. On iPad, it lists only the European Union.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →| Location | iPhone | iPad | Epic’s listed minimum software |
|---|---|---|---|
| European Union | Available | Available | iOS 17.6 or later; iPadOS 18 or later |
| Japan | Available | Not currently available | iOS 26.2 or later |
| Brazil | Available | Not currently available | iOS 26.5 or later |
These are the regional minimums stated in Epic’s installation guidance. A newer iOS release does not make an unsupported country eligible, and being in an eligible country does not overcome an iPhone that is below the required version.
#1 Best Overall
- Vibrant 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology. Action mode for smooth, steady, handheld videos.
Check Epic’s official installation instructions immediately before starting. Epic notes that regional lists, software requirements and installation screens can change.
What you need before starting
- An iPhone physically located in the European Union, Japan or Brazil.
- The minimum iOS version for that location: 17.6 in the EU, 26.2 in Japan or 26.5 in Brazil.
- Safari on the eligible iPhone. Epic’s troubleshooting guidance specifically recommends Safari for the installation flow.
- An internet connection and enough free storage for the marketplace app and any games you later choose to install.
The regional requirements are not interchangeable. For example, an iPhone running iOS 26.2 meets Japan’s listed minimum but does not by itself make the store available in a country Epic does not support. Likewise, an EU iPhone can qualify at iOS 17.6 even though Japan and Brazil have higher listed minimums.
Keep the distinction between the marketplace and the games clear. Installing the Epic Games Store gives you the storefront; it does not download every game in the catalog. Individual games may have their own device, software, account or storage requirements, which you should review on their store pages.
How to install the Epic Games Store on an iPhone
1. Open Epic’s installation page in Safari
On the eligible iPhone, open Safari and go to epicgames.com’s installation instructions. Use the page’s current install button rather than an old bookmark or an installation file from another website. Starting on the eligible device matters: a page opened on a desktop, an unsupported iPad or an iPhone outside the listed regions may not show the same action.
2. Start the installation
Follow the prompt shown for your device. Depending on the iOS version and the flow Epic presents, you may tap Install and then Confirm, or you may first be sent to Settings to authorize marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc.
3. Approve the marketplace permission if requested
If iOS opens Settings, read the permission screen and allow marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc. Return to the installation page and confirm the store installation when prompted. The exact screen can vary with the installed iOS release, so follow the labels displayed on your phone rather than relying on a different version’s screenshots.
4. Open the store after installation
When the Epic Games Store icon appears on the Home Screen or App Library, open it and sign in to your Epic account if the store requests authentication. Installing the marketplace does not automatically install every game; games are selected and installed from the store itself.
5. Keep the official route available
Epic’s supported process begins at epicgames.com. Avoid downloading an alleged Epic installation package from a third-party site or following a guide that asks you to bypass the region check. Such a file is not the installation method described by Epic, and it removes the ability to verify that you are using the current store software.

Why Epic shows different iOS installation flows
Epic’s guide separates instructions under headings for iOS or iPadOS 26.2 and later, 18.6 and later, and versions below 18.6. Those headings describe different prompt sequences, not a replacement for the regional minimums in the same guide.
Use the minimum for your actual location first, then follow the flow your iPhone displays. Do not infer eligibility solely from an instruction heading. In particular, the EU minimum listed by Epic is iOS 17.6, while Japan requires iOS 26.2 and Brazil requires iOS 26.5. EU iPad availability begins at iPadOS 18.
This is why two people can see different instructions while both are using Safari. Their iOS releases may fall into different flow categories, or one person may be using an iPad rather than an iPhone. The regional table remains the controlling checklist for eligibility.

Why availability depends on your region
Apple treats alternative app marketplaces as region-specific capabilities rather than a worldwide iPhone feature. Its EU documentation covers alternative marketplace distribution on iOS 17.4 and later and attributes the change to compliance with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act. Apple’s Japan documentation describes marketplace distribution on iOS 26.2 and later in connection with Japan’s Mobile Software Competition Act.
- Apple’s EU alternative marketplace documentation explains the EU framework.
- Apple’s Japan alternative marketplace documentation explains the Japan framework.
- Apple’s EU announcement describes the distribution changes and related safeguards.
- Apple’s Japan distribution guidance covers the Japanese changes.
Apple Fellow Phil Schiller summarized Apple’s position in its EU announcement: “Our priority remains creating the best, most secure possible experience for our users in the EU and around the world.” That statement describes Apple’s priority, not a promise that every marketplace has identical protections or availability.
These Apple rules provide the platform mechanism, but they are not a guarantee that Epic’s store is offered in every jurisdiction with alternative distribution. Epic’s own country list is the authority for whether the Epic Games Store can be installed.
What Apple’s security language means
Apple says its notarization review for alternative distribution is a baseline and that its safeguards reduce, but do not eliminate, risks. That is Apple’s description of its framework, not a guarantee that every marketplace or app distributed through it is safe. Download the store only through Epic’s official site and review iOS permission prompts before approving them.

Epic says users outside the EU, Japan or Brazil cannot install new apps from the Epic Games Store on iOS. If you already installed apps from the store and then leave a supported region, those apps continue to work and receive updates for up to 90 days. After that period, the apps stop receiving updates but continue to open, according to Epic’s support article on losing access outside supported regions.

| Situation | What Epic says |
|---|---|
| You are outside the EU, Japan and Brazil and have never installed the store | You cannot install new Epic Games Store apps on iOS. |
| You leave a supported region with the store and its apps already installed | Previously installed apps continue to work and receive updates for up to 90 days. |
| You remain outside supported regions beyond that period | Those apps continue to open, but they stop receiving updates. |
The 90-day rule is about apps already installed, not a grace period for starting a new installation. Someone who travels from an unsupported country into a supported one should still check Epic’s current eligibility screen rather than assume that travel alone changes the result.
Apple’s general information says eligibility for alternative distribution can involve both physical location and the country or region associated with an Apple Account. Because Epic’s store has its own eligibility rules, changing account settings or attempting a location workaround should not be treated as a supported way to enable installation.
Troubleshooting when the install prompt does not appear
Confirm the three eligibility checks
- Verify that the iPhone is physically in the EU, Japan or Brazil.
- Check the installed iOS version against the minimum for that location.
- Open Epic’s page in Safari on that same iPhone, not on a desktop or an unsupported iPad.
These checks matter because the prompt is conditional. A browser page viewed on an ineligible device may not offer the same installation action.
Retry the installation
Epic recommends retrying if the installation prompt fails to appear despite meeting the regional and software requirements. Return to the official installation page and start the process again.
Restart the iPhone
If a retry does not restore the prompt, restart the iPhone and revisit the page in Safari. This is one of Epic’s listed troubleshooting steps, not an independently tested guarantee.
Clear Safari website data
Epic also suggests clearing Safari website data when the prompt still does not appear. In Safari’s settings, remove the site data, reopen Safari, and load the official Epic installation page again. Clearing website data can sign you out of websites and remove stored browsing data, so save any information you need before doing it.
Follow the current on-screen flow
Installation screens can differ between iOS releases. If the page sends you to Settings to authorize marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc, complete that authorization and return to Safari. If the page offers direct Install and Confirm buttons, use those instead. Do not substitute instructions from another region or an older iOS version.

iPhone versus iPad availability
Epic’s iPhone and iPad support should be treated as separate questions. The EU supports both device types, with iOS 17.6 or later for iPhone and iPadOS 18 or later for iPad. Japan and Brazil currently support iPhone, but Epic says the store is not currently available on iPad in either country.
Therefore, an iPad owner in Japan or Brazil cannot rely on the iPhone rules, even if the iPad runs a newer operating system. Conversely, an EU iPad can qualify when it meets the iPadOS minimum. The fact that iPadOS is newer than an iPhone’s software does not change the device-specific country list.
How many people use the mobile store?
Epic’s regulatory disclosure, updated August 15, 2025, estimated an average of 1.6 million monthly active recipients in the EU for the Epic Games Store mobile app over the preceding six months. That is a historical EU estimate from Epic, not a current worldwide total and not an iPhone-only measurement. The figure appears in Epic’s regulatory disclosure.

| Reader’s situation | Answer |
|---|---|
| iPhone in the EU on iOS 17.6 or later | Eligible to follow Epic’s iPhone installation flow. |
| iPhone in Japan on iOS 26.2 or later | Eligible under Epic’s listed Japanese minimum. |
| iPhone in Brazil on iOS 26.5 or later | Eligible under Epic’s listed Brazilian minimum. |
| iPad in the EU on iPadOS 18 or later | Eligible under Epic’s listed iPad support. |
| iPad in Japan or Brazil | Not currently supported by Epic, regardless of iPadOS version. |
| Any iPhone outside the three listed regions | New Epic Games Store iOS installations are not available through Epic’s supported process. |
| Store installed before a trip outside a supported region | Existing apps can work and receive updates for up to 90 days; afterward they continue to open but stop receiving updates. |
A quick eligibility decision
- Identify the device. If it is an iPhone, continue with the regional iPhone rules. If it is an iPad, only the EU is currently listed as supported.
- Identify the location. The supported iPhone regions are the EU, Japan and Brazil.
- Check the software minimum. EU iPhone: iOS 17.6; Japan iPhone: iOS 26.2; Brazil iPhone: iOS 26.5; EU iPad: iPadOS 18.
- Use Safari on the eligible device. Start at Epic’s official installation page and accept the Settings permission if iOS requests it.
- If you travel away, track the 90-day window. Existing apps can continue updating for up to 90 days outside supported regions; new installations remain unavailable.
If any of the first three checks fails, the Epic Games Store cannot currently be installed through Epic’s supported iOS process. If all three pass, the Safari installation flow is the appropriate next step.

Where do I start the installation?
Open Safari on the eligible iPhone and go to Epic’s official installation instructions at epicgames.com. Follow the current Install and Confirm prompts, or authorize marketplace apps from Epic Games Inc in Settings if iOS requests that step.
Why is there no Install button?
Check your physical region, iOS version, device type and browser. Epic recommends retrying, restarting the iPhone and clearing Safari website data if all eligibility requirements are met but the prompt still does not appear.
Can changing my Apple Account country enable the store?
Do not rely on an account-country change or a location workaround. Apple describes eligibility as potentially involving physical location and account region, while Epic’s own country list controls access to this specific store.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What happens to Epic apps when I leave the EU, Japan or Brazil?
Existing installed apps continue to work and receive updates for up to 90 days. After that, Epic says they continue to open but stop receiving updates. You cannot install new Epic Games Store apps while outside the supported regions.
Does installing the marketplace install Fortnite or every other game automatically?
No. The marketplace is the storefront. You select and install individual games from it, and each game can have its own requirements.
Is Epic’s 1.6 million figure a current iPhone user count?
No. Epic’s disclosure updated August 15, 2025 estimated 1.6 million average monthly active recipients in the EU over the preceding six months. It is a historical EU mobile estimate, not a current global or iPhone-only count.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: You can install the Epic Games Store on an iPhone if you are physically in the EU, Japan or Brazil and meet the applicable minimum—iOS 17.6 in the EU, iOS 26.2 in Japan or iOS 26.5 in Brazil. Start in Safari at epicgames.com and follow the permission or Install/Confirm prompts. iPad support is currently EU-only, and leaving a supported region limits new installations while allowing existing apps to update for up to 90 days.
