Yes—Fedora can boot on some Snapdragon X laptops, but support is model-specific and may require kernel workarounds. Fedora documents a live-USB boot path for the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x; that demonstrates progress, not that every component works or that every Snapdragon laptop is ready for daily Linux use.
What Fedora supports today
Fedora’s Snapdragon Windows-on-ARM installation guidance covers preparing and installing Fedora on compatible laptops. It calls for preparing the machine in Windows, updating the BIOS and runtime-loadable firmware where possible, making room on the disk, and creating an aarch64 Fedora Workstation live USB.

These instructions are not a blanket certification for all Qualcomm hardware. Fedora’s ARM architecture information lists Qualcomm, including laptops, and identifies the Lenovo X13s as work in progress. It also notes that phones and tablets are not a direct support focus. Having an ARM build of Fedora therefore does not mean every Snapdragon device is supported.
Why Snapdragon X may need boot parameters
For Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus systems (X1E/X1P), Fedora’s installation guidance lists kernel command-line workarounds for known platform or firmware issues. The displayed options are:

Follow the instructions for the exact laptop and generation rather than copying a command line from another device: Fedora notes that options may differ on other generations. The need for parameters is a sign that the boot path can depend on the platform’s current firmware and kernel support.
The Yoga Slim 7x is a documented example, not a guarantee
Fedora identifies the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x as a Snapdragon X Elite laptop and documents booting Fedora 44 beta from a live USB with additional kernel parameters on its Yoga Slim 7x page. This is concrete evidence that Fedora can reach a live environment on that model using the described path.

A live session does not establish that wireless networking, audio, graphics acceleration, suspend and resume, battery behavior, or every hardware configuration works reliably. The Fedora pages cited here do not provide a complete feature-by-feature status for those components, so check current reports for the exact model and configuration before relying on them.

Fedora’s installation guidance recommends retaining Windows to install firmware updates. That matters if you are considering erasing Windows: a Linux boot path does not remove the need to access the vendor’s Windows-based update process. Plan disk space and a recovery route accordingly, especially before changing partitions or replacing the original operating system.

What Snapdragon X2 Linux progress means
Qualcomm’s September 2026 developer-preview announcement describes Linux enablement for Snapdragon X2 as ongoing upstream development, progressing from low-level SoC work toward upstream support for reference hardware. Qualcomm says that upstreaming will continue beyond November 2026. This is Qualcomm’s development status, not a Fedora release commitment or confirmation of finished support for retail X2 laptops.
How to assess a specific laptop
Before choosing a Snapdragon laptop for Fedora, verify the exact model and SoC rather than relying on the Snapdragon brand name alone. Then check whether Fedora’s current image boots on that model, whether it needs device-specific parameters, and whether the hardware you depend on works in practice.
