YouTube says live streaming may also be disabled for a channel with a “significant number” of videos whose features are disabled. It does not define that number, and it does not say that one disabled upload automatically blocks live streaming. For an Indian channel, check live-stream eligibility and any active restrictions separately from upload access.
Disabled uploads and live streaming are separate checks
A disabled upload or a disabled feature on an individual video does not, by itself, prove that your channel has lost live access. YouTube’s guidance identifies a significant number of videos with features disabled as a possible channel-level reason live streaming may also be disabled. The help page gives no numeric threshold, so creators cannot determine eligibility from a particular count alone. YouTube’s restriction guidance describes possible causes, not the internal decision for any one channel.

It helps to distinguish three statuses: whether you can upload, whether particular features are disabled on videos, and whether live streaming is available to your channel. They may be related, but one status does not automatically tell you the others.

YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. The general guide also says streamers must be at least 16. These are separate from the possible channel-level restriction for numerous videos with disabled features. See YouTube’s live-streaming overview.

Computer streaming
YouTube lists live streaming on a computer as an intermediate feature. Phone verification provides intermediate feature access; advanced verification or sufficient channel history may provide higher daily limits. The feature-access page also cautions that some features have additional eligibility requirements. Review the status shown in Studio rather than assuming that verification alone resolves a restriction: Learn about feature access for YouTube creators.
Mobile streaming
Mobile streaming has additional requirements: at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, live streaming turned on, and no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. YouTube says activation of a first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours. For channels under 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit the mobile audience and make the archive private by default. After a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, lifting the audience limit may still take several weeks. These safeguards do not mean the channel has necessarily lost live access. Details are in YouTube’s mobile live-streaming instructions.

YouTube names several situations that can affect live access, including a Community Guidelines strike or takedown, a live stream matching another copyrighted live broadcast, a copyright strike on a live stream, certain minors-safety issues, and a significant number of videos with features disabled. YouTube may also restrict a stream or live access when proposed content violates its guidelines. The restriction may be temporary or permanent; a strike can prevent live streaming for 14 days. The applicable duration depends on the restriction YouTube places on the channel.

YouTube prohibits using another channel to stream around an active live restriction. Doing so can be treated as circumvention and may result in account termination. Wait for the restriction to end or use the appeal route in the notice rather than switching channels to bypass it.
How to check your channel’s status
- Check feature access: In YouTube Studio, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Note whether live streaming is enabled. This page shows feature status; it may not explain every policy restriction.
- Review notices: Check the Studio dashboard for Community Guidelines and copyright notifications. Search the email associated with the channel for YouTube’s restriction message, which should identify the issue and provide appeal information when applicable.
- Separate the affected access: Determine whether the issue concerns uploading generally, features disabled on individual videos, or live streaming itself. A disabled upload alone is not enough to establish why live access is unavailable.
- Apply mobile requirements if relevant: Confirm the 50-subscriber minimum and, after first enabling mobile live streaming, allow up to 24 hours for activation. If you have fewer than 1,000 subscribers, an audience limit or private archive may be the mobile safeguard YouTube describes.
- Use the notice’s appeal route if the status remains unclear: You can also send feedback through YouTube Studio. Public help pages cannot reveal the internal eligibility decision for an individual channel.
What this means for Indian creators
The cited YouTube guidance does not establish a separate Indian rule that makes disabled uploads automatically disqualifying for live streaming. Apply the general channel requirements, plus the additional mobile requirements if you plan to stream from a phone. India’s appearance in the mobile Playables availability information does not change those rules.

If Studio shows live streaming as enabled but you still cannot start a stream, compare the exact error with any restriction notice and confirm whether you are attempting mobile or computer streaming. An enabled feature-access status is useful evidence, but it does not override a separate policy restriction or explain an individual account decision by itself.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your channel is eligible and you want a prerecorded YouTube stream to keep running without a computer at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It is for uploaded videos, not camera broadcasts, and it does not restore a channel’s eligibility or remove YouTube restrictions.
- Nothing has to stay powered on at home; the stream runs from the cloud.
- Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality tiers.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required; one free day is available per account.
Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for service details, then start your free day.
