Yes. You can earn the Necrofluid Gauntlet in a Solo Zombies match on Ashes of the Damned. The quest is designed to work with one player, although every escort, timed objective, puzzle step and combat encounter must be handled alone. The critical sequence is Uber Klaus, the Aether Barrel, three pump stations, the Vandorn Farm rooftop-symbol puzzle and a basement orb trial.
What the Necrofluid Gauntlet is
The Necrofluid Gauntlet is the map-specific Wonder Weapon for Ashes of the Damned in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Call of Duty’s official Zombies deep dive describes it as a weapon that reshapes dark liquid into spikes. Those spikes shoot toward targets, then return to the Gauntlet and deal additional damage on the way back. The same description says the Gauntlet can pull items and Power-Ups toward you from a distance.

It is not placed in your inventory when a match begins. You earn it by completing the map’s Wonder Weapon quest. The quest can be started and finished without a teammate, so a Solo run is a legitimate acquisition route rather than a workaround.

Is the quest officially soloable?
A dedicated Black Ops 7 guide lists the team size as “Solo or Co-op,” and PC Gamer describes the later encounter as difficult but possible alone. That establishes feasibility, not an automatic or easy completion. The quest still expects you to move between locations, protect an escort, carry a timed objective and fight through a final trial without another player taking over one of those jobs.

| Pressure point | Solo | Co-op |
|---|---|---|
| Task load | One player handles travel, combat, escort commands, the puzzle and the trial. | Players can divide movement, defense and escort duties. |
| Timed travel | The same player carries the Aether Barrel and clears a path while its charge decays. | One player can carry the barrel while others help clear the route. |
| Escort safety | You must direct Klaus and protect the scan yourself. | Players can split Klaus commands and enemy control. |
| Revive margin | There is no teammate to revive you during a mistake. | A teammate can provide a revive opportunity if the situation allows it. |
| Later boss pressure | PC Gamer calls the Veytharion encounter hard to pull off solo, but not impossible. | Additional players can share damage and defensive responsibilities. |

Before starting: what the solo route demands
- You must be playing Zombies on Ashes of the Damned.
- You need access to the Klaus objective at Janus Towers Plaza and the Ashwood jail sequence.
- Have three Stun Grenades ready for Klaus’s activation step.
- Plan a fast route between Blackwater Lake, Ashwood and Vandorn Farm once you obtain the Aether Barrel.
- Be ready to memorize three glowing symbols at Janus Towers Plaza and reproduce them at the Vandorn Farm cube.
- Reserve enough combat capacity for the basement orb trial after the puzzle.
One GameSpot guide describes the quest as beginning with activation of three power generators before the remaining Wonder Weapon steps. Walkthroughs may present that setup in a slightly different order, so activate the three generators when the map objective directs you before proceeding with the Klaus-and-barrel chain.
How to get the Necrofluid Gauntlet solo
1. Defeat Uber Klaus at Janus Towers Plaza
Uber Klaus begins spawning from Round 8 onward at Janus Towers Plaza, according to PC Gamer’s walkthrough. Defeat him and collect the Stabilizer Chip he drops. The chip is the item that lets you turn the normal Klaus interaction into the quest’s controllable escort step.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBecause the round threshold is described as “Round 8 onward,” reaching Round 8 does not mean the encounter has already been completed or that the chip is in your inventory. Check the area, defeat the miniboss when he appears and confirm that the Stabilizer Chip has been collected before moving on.
2. Activate Klaus in the Ashwood jail
Take the Stabilizer Chip to Klaus in the Ashwood jail and install it. Then hit Klaus with three Stun Grenades. After the third stun, use the Tactical-equipment command to direct him. This is the point where Klaus becomes an escort objective rather than a stationary interaction.

In Solo, do not spend the stun grenades casually before this step. You need all three for the activation sequence. Once Klaus responds to the command, keep track of where he is while also watching incoming Zombies; losing the escort’s position can cost time before the more demanding barrel section.
3. Escort Klaus to Zarya Cosmodrome
Direct Klaus to the Support Systems room in Zarya Cosmodrome. At the control panel, command him to begin the scan, then defend the scan until it completes. When the sequence succeeds, collect the Aether Barrel.
This is a two-part Solo responsibility: the command must be issued correctly, and the scan must survive the attack. Position yourself so you can respond to enemies without abandoning the panel area. Co-op players can split those jobs; Solo players cannot, which is why this escort is more exposed to a single mistake.
4. Charge the Aether Barrel at three pumps
The Aether Barrel must be charged at three pump stations:
- Blackwater Lake
- Ashwood
- Vandorn Farm
The barrel’s charge decays on a timer, so this is the route’s clearest execution test. PC Gamer advises saving Vandorn Farm for last. That order reduces the chance that you finish at the wrong end of the route and then lose the charge while traveling back to the next objective.

Do not use Jump Pads while carrying the barrel. The walkthrough warns that Jump Pads make you drop it. A dropped barrel can turn a simple movement shortcut into a recovery problem, so use the ground route and keep the objective in hand until all three pumps are charged.
For a Solo attempt, prepare the path before collecting the barrel whenever possible. Clear or avoid threats along the travel line, identify the three pump locations and avoid unnecessary detours. The sources do not publish a fixed number of seconds for the charge window, so use the game’s active objective and charge feedback rather than relying on an assumed timer.
5. Solve the Vandorn Farm cube
After charging the barrel, go to the barn cellar at Vandorn Farm and interact with the cube. The solution uses three glowing symbols on rooftops near Janus Towers Plaza:
- Use the Jump Pad toward Janus Towers Plaza to reach the viewing route.
- Look at the three glowing rooftop symbols.
- Memorize their order and appearance before leaving the area.
- Return to the barn cellar at Vandorn Farm.
- Set the cube’s three symbols to match what you saw on the rooftops.
The Jump Pad restriction applies to the Aether Barrel route; the cube instructions specifically use a Jump Pad to view the symbols. Make sure you are no longer carrying the barrel before using that traversal step. The puzzle is a visual matching task, not a random code that can be solved by guessing. If one face looks similar to another, compare the full glowing shape and its position in the three-symbol sequence.
6. Complete the basement acquisition trial
When the cube symbols are correct, the Necrofluid Gauntlet appears and the final acquisition trial begins. In the basement, destroy the green orbs and the Zombies that spawn with them. Continue until the trial is complete, then escape the basement and return to Ol’ Tessie.

The orb phase is especially dangerous in Solo because the same player must identify targets, control the Zombies and maintain an escape route. Avoid becoming trapped in a corner while focusing on an orb. Clear immediate threats first when necessary, then resume damage on the green targets. The quest is not finished merely because the Gauntlet has appeared; the orb trial and the return to Ol’ Tessie are still required.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why Solo feels harder than co-op
The route combines several kinds of pressure instead of asking for one long boss fight. You must first win the Uber Klaus encounter, then perform a precise activation, escort Klaus to a scan, protect that scan, carry a timed barrel through three locations, solve a memory puzzle and survive the orb trial. In co-op, movement and defense can be divided. In Solo, every interruption affects the only player who can advance the objective.
The Aether Barrel is the most obvious failure point because its charge decays while you travel. The escort scan and the basement trial are the other moments where multitasking matters: you cannot both ignore the enemies and safely progress the objective. The later Veytharion encounter is also described by PC Gamer as hard to complete alone, although the same account says it is possible.
Solo troubleshooting
Uber Klaus does not appear
Confirm that you have reached Round 8 or later and are checking Janus Towers Plaza. The available guide describes his spawn as beginning from Round 8 onward, not as a guaranteed appearance at the instant Round 8 starts. Continue the match and recheck the plaza if necessary.

Return to the Ashwood jail, install the Stabilizer Chip and hit Klaus with three Stun Grenades. The Tactical-equipment command comes after those stuns. If the sequence does not advance, verify that all three grenades affected Klaus rather than nearby Zombies.

The barrel loses its charge
The charge is timed. Re-plan the route through Blackwater Lake, Ashwood and Vandorn Farm, with Vandorn Farm last as advised by PC Gamer. Avoid detours and do not use Jump Pads while carrying the barrel, because the walkthrough says they make you drop it.
The cube solution does not work
Use the Jump Pad toward Janus Towers Plaza to inspect all three glowing rooftop symbols, memorize their order, then return to the Vandorn Farm barn cellar. Match the cube to the rooftop sequence rather than trying random combinations. If the symbols are hard to distinguish, inspect their complete outlines and positions again.
The Gauntlet appeared, but the quest did not finish
Complete the basement trial by destroying the green orbs and spawned Zombies, escape the basement and return to Ol’ Tessie. The appearance of the weapon starts the final combat phase; it is not the final hand-in by itself.

What to expect after earning it
The Gauntlet’s defining attack is a spike that shoots out, skewers targets at range and returns to the weapon for additional damage. Its utility function can pull distant items and Power-Ups toward you. Those two functions—ranged spike damage with a returning hit and remote item retrieval—are the reason the quest is worth completing even when the Solo route takes careful preparation.
Quest details such as round thresholds, spawns and interaction behavior can change in later Black Ops 7 patches. The Solo status and route described here reflect the published guide and official weapon description available for this version of Ashes of the Damned; check current in-game objectives if a later update changes a step.
