Can You Get Banned for Using a WARDOGS XP Exploit? Account Resets and Appeals Explained

Yes. Bulkhead’s published rules prohibit deliberately exploiting bugs, glitches or unintended game behavior for an advantage. Depending on the conduct and your account history, enforcement can range from a server restriction or temporary suspension to a permanent account ban, sometimes paired with a hardware ban. Cash, XP and other progression may also be removed.

What the WARDOGS rules classify as an exploit

Bulkhead’s Security and Enforcement policy lists deliberately exploiting bugs, glitches or unintended behavior for an advantage as conduct that may trigger suspension or a ban. The examples named in the policy include damage, movement, spawn and progression exploits, so an XP-farming method falls within the stated scope when it is used knowingly to gain progress the game did not intend to award.

The WARDOGS EULA uses similar language. Its definition of cheating includes the deliberate exploitation of bugs, glitches, design errors or undocumented features within the game. That wording matters because an exploit does not become permitted merely because it is easy to perform, widely discussed or still works after an update.

Enforcement is discretionary. Bulkhead says it considers what happened, whether the behavior was deliberate and the player’s history. More than one action can be applied to the same incident. A reset of illicit gains can therefore accompany a suspension or ban rather than replace it.

Possible penalties and what each one affects

The published policy describes several different actions. They differ by where the restriction applies, how long it lasts, what can be removed and whether the policy provides an appeal route.

Action Scope Duration Possible progression impact Published appeal position
Server restriction A particular community or game server Not specified in the policy The policy does not promise that progression will be preserved; a separate reset may be ordered Final under the enforcement policy
Temporary suspension Your game account’s online access Temporary; length depends on the case Cash, XP or other gains may be removed if Bulkhead decides they came from the exploit Final under the enforcement policy
Permanent account ban Your WARDOGS account Permanent unless an appeal overturns it Cash, XP, progression, cosmetics, statistics, leaderboard placements and competition entries can be reset or removed Only this action has the published appeal process
Hardware ban The device used to play online Permanent when imposed as the policy describes It blocks online play from that device; it can occur alongside an account ban Final on its own; an associated hardware ban is lifted if the related account appeal succeeds

The policy does not provide a fixed penalty chart. A permanent ban usually comes with a hardware ban, but the exact combination depends on Bulkhead’s decision in the individual case.

Will Bulkhead reset your cash, XP or whole account?

Bulkhead can remove more than the XP earned through an exploit. The enforcement policy allows remediation affecting cash, XP, overall progression, cosmetics, statistics, leaderboard placements and competition entries. The Steam announcement about cash and XP exploits specifically warned that abusive players risked having cash and progression reset as well as receiving a permanent ban.

That does not mean every incident automatically erases every item. The policy does not promise a standard reset amount or define a universal “whole account” wipe. The scope is decided case by case, based on the incident and the enforcement action. A player could lose the gains tied to the exploit, face a broader rollback, or have additional records removed if Bulkhead determines they were affected.

There is also no published guarantee that an appeal, even when accepted, restores every deleted item. The rules explain how to request review, not what restoration must follow an overturned action.

What happened in the Season 2 driver-XP incident?

PC Gamer reported in 2026 that Bulkhead was fixing a driver-progression exploit during Season 2. The report said fewer than 1,000 players who were very clearly taking advantage of it would receive a 24-hour ban and have cash and XP wiped.

That episode shows that an exploit response can combine a short suspension with a targeted rollback. It is not a guaranteed formula for every XP exploit. The reported figure is specific to that incident and should not be read as the total number of exploit users or as an official prevalence study. No broader official count is established by the published materials.

Is an XP-farming server a permanent-ban risk?

The label “XP-farming server” does not by itself establish whether a player violated the rules. The relevant question is what the server or method does and whether you deliberately use unintended behavior to obtain an advantage. If the setup relies on a progression glitch, a spawn error or another undocumented behavior, repeatedly using it can fit the policy’s examples even when other players are doing the same thing.

Possible outcomes still range from a server restriction or temporary suspension to a permanent account and hardware ban. The policy gives Bulkhead discretion rather than a safe-use threshold. A method that has not yet produced a visible punishment is not cleared for future use.

Responsibility follows the account that used the exploit. Bulkhead’s policy says enforcement applies to the account regardless of who was playing it, so allowing another person to use your account does not create an exemption.

What to do if you used an XP exploit

  1. Stop immediately. Do not repeat the sequence, join additional exploit sessions or help others reproduce it. Continued use can make deliberate exploitation easier to establish.
  2. Remove unauthorized tools. Do not install or run software that alters game files, memory or network behavior. Such tools create separate security and cheating concerns beyond the original glitch.
  3. Do not attempt to hide the activity. Avoid account transfers, evasion attempts or other steps intended to defeat enforcement. They do not create an appeal right and may complicate the facts of the case.
  4. Check the exact action applied. Identify whether the notice concerns a server restriction, temporary suspension, permanent account ban or hardware ban. The appeal options differ by category.
  5. Record a concise factual timeline. Note when the behavior occurred, what you did, which platform was involved and whether anyone else accessed the account. Keep this information for a possible permanent-ban appeal; do not send repeated messages to different channels.

Do not assume that avoiding punishment for a few days means the exploit is safe. Enforcement can follow investigation or a later server-side review, and the policy allows progression and ranking changes after the original activity.

How to appeal a permanent WARDOGS account ban

Bulkhead’s published process is limited to permanent account bans. Server restrictions, temporary suspensions and hardware bans are stated to be final under the enforcement policy and have no ordinary appeal route in the published rules.

  1. Send one email to [email protected].
  2. Identify the account and platform. Include your account name and whether you played on PC or another supported platform.
  3. Give a concise, factual explanation. Describe the relevant event, acknowledge what you personally did, and include context that could affect identification of the account or the action. Avoid insults, threats, speculation about detection methods or claims that an exploit is acceptable because it was public.
  4. Submit the complete record once. Bulkhead says repeat appeals for the same ban are not reconsidered, so send the material you want reviewed in the first message.

A team member, rather than an automated system, reviews each appeal. Bulkhead aims to respond within 30 days. The company says it will not disclose detection evidence or explain how its detection worked, so an appeal should focus on the facts of your account and conduct rather than demand technical logs.

Appeal decisions are final under the published rules. If a hardware ban was imposed together with a permanent account ban and the account appeal succeeds, Bulkhead says it will lift the associated hardware ban. That statement does not create a separate appeal path for a hardware ban imposed by itself.

Which email should you use?

Use [email protected] for the permanent-account-ban process. The privacy policy lists [email protected] for data-protection questions, such as a privacy review. That address is not a substitute for the normal ban-appeal channel and does not convert a temporary suspension or server restriction into an appealable action.

Common mistakes that weaken an appeal

  • Appealing the wrong action: a temporary suspension or server restriction is not made appealable by sending the permanent-ban form.
  • Sending multiple versions: repeat appeals for the same ban are not reconsidered.
  • Demanding detection details: Bulkhead says it will not disclose detection evidence or explain how detection worked.
  • Claiming the reset is impossible: the policy expressly allows removal of cash, XP and other progression, so focus on accurately identifying what happened.
  • Assuming a friend’s actions are irrelevant: enforcement is tied to the account used, regardless of who was playing.

What the rules mean in practice

An XP exploit creates two separate risks: access to the game and the value stored on the account. You might lose online access for a limited period, lose access permanently, or be blocked from playing online on the device. Separately, Bulkhead may remove the economic and competitive benefits gained from the exploit, including cash, XP, rankings and entries in competitions.

The Season 2 driver case demonstrates that Bulkhead may choose a targeted 24-hour suspension and cash/XP wipe when the abuse is clear, while the official policy preserves the option of harsher action. Because intent, circumstances and account history influence the decision, no player can calculate a guaranteed penalty from another person’s outcome.

The safest course is to stop using the unintended behavior, avoid software that modifies the game, and wait for any official notice. If the notice is a permanent account ban, one complete appeal to the published address is the available review path; otherwise, the current policy does not provide an ordinary appeal.
