Yes, you can delete a WoW: Forever beta character through the character-selection screen, but you should treat that deletion as permanent. Blizzard Customer Support cannot restore beta characters, provide a GM-assisted reset, or move a beta character into the launch version. Blizzard’s beta announcements also make clear that names, levels, items, and all other beta progress are wiped before release.

The delete control is based on tester reports in Blizzard’s WoW: Forever beta forum, so its exact placement or wording can change during testing. The absence of restoration, reset, and migration support comes from Blizzard’s own support and beta statements.
How to delete a WoW Forever beta character
Use the character-selection flow
- Log in to the WoW: Forever beta and stop at the character-selection screen.
- Highlight the character you want to remove.
- Choose the available Delete command in the character controls.
- Read the confirmation prompt carefully and confirm only after checking that you selected the correct character.
Players have reported that this command is available in the beta interface. Blizzard has not published a promise that the control will look identical in every beta build, so follow the labels shown by your client rather than relying on a screenshot from another test phase.

Why deletion should be considered permanent
In a normal live environment, a deleted character may sometimes be recoverable through an automated restoration feature or a Game Master. Blizzard’s beta support position is different. Vrakthris, a Blizzard Customer Support representative, wrote: “I’m afraid Game Masters do not have access or tools to interact with Beta. There is no restoration or other assistance that we can provide.”
That means the confirmation screen is effectively a final decision. If you want a different build, name, class, or profession, creating another beta character is safer than deleting one while assuming you can undo the action later.
Is there a way to reset a beta character?
No documented self-service reset exists
Blizzard has not documented a button that returns an existing WoW: Forever beta character to level 1, removes its progress, or rewinds it to an earlier state. The available information does not establish a supported way to preserve the character while clearing its level, gear, quest history, or other data.

What to do when the character is stuck
A stuck character can be caused by a beta bug, a failed transition, or a temporary service problem. Blizzard’s guidance allows for the possibility that maintenance will clear the problem. If the character remains unusable afterward, support’s recommendation is straightforward: “the best I can recommend is start a new character.”
- Wait through the next scheduled or emergency maintenance period before taking an irreversible action.
- Try logging in again after the service returns.
- If the character is still stuck, create a replacement character.
- Submit a bug report with the character name, realm or test environment, what action caused the lock-up, and any error text you saw.
Do not expect a GM to teleport, unlock, roll back, or otherwise manipulate that beta character. The support limitation applies to assistance with the beta itself, not just to one particular type of bug.
Can Blizzard restore a deleted beta character?
No. Blizzard’s stated lack of beta access and restoration tools means Customer Support cannot recover a deleted WoW: Forever beta character. There is also no documented exception for a mistaken deletion, a valuable name, or a character that had reached a high level.

If you have not yet confirmed deletion, cancel the prompt and keep the character. If deletion has already been confirmed, the supported path is to start over rather than open a restoration request. You can still report a technical problem, but a bug report is for fixing the game and does not function as a character-recovery ticket.

Will a beta character transfer to the WoW Forever launch?
The beta is a separate, disposable environment
No. A Blizzard-hosted discussion answers the launch question directly: “There’s nothing to keep, your character(s) exist in Beta not release.” Beta characters are created for testing and do not become launch characters when the product leaves beta.
The official product page lists the beta window as September 17 through October 21, 2026. The WoW: Forever launch is listed for November 4, 2026. The gap between those dates does not represent a transfer period; it is the end of the test environment and the preparation for release.
Names are wiped too
Do not reserve a beta name on the assumption that it will be held for launch. In the official stress-test notice, Blizzard community manager Kaivax states: “This is a complete wipe; names and everything else will be completely removed.” The phrase covers the character record as well as its name, so testers should be prepared to recreate both after launch.

- Character level and experience
- Items, equipment, currency, and professions
- Quest progress, achievements, and discoveries made in the beta
- Guild or social associations attached to the beta character
- The character’s name reservation
These losses are a consequence of the announced wipe, not a defect in the transfer process. There is no export, copy, snapshot, or account-side conversion described for moving beta data into the November release.

Do ruleset transfers change the answer?
Blizzard separately documents a Hardcore rule for the live game: when Hardcore is available, a character that dies can transfer to another ruleset, including PvP. That transfer changes the ruleset in which the character can continue and is triggered by the Hardcore death mechanic.
It does not create a general character-migration system. A normal beta character cannot use the Hardcore rule to reach launch, and a living beta character does not gain a transfer path through that feature. Treat the Hardcore provision as a post-launch gameplay rule, not as beta data protection.
Choosing the least risky option
If you simply want to try another build
Keep the existing character if you may want to return to it. Create a second character for the experiment. This avoids the one action that cannot be undone: confirming deletion.

If the name, level, or gear looks wrong
First determine whether the issue is a temporary beta problem. Wait for maintenance and test again, then file a bug report if the problem persists. A reset request will not produce a documented rollback, and deleting the character removes your ability to inspect the original state.
If the character will not log in
Use the maintenance-and-reroll path: wait for service restoration, retry once the beta is available, then start a new character if the lock persists. Include reproducible steps in the bug report so Blizzard can investigate the defect even though support cannot repair that individual character.
If launch is approaching
Finish any testing you want to do, but save information outside the game if you need it later. Screenshots, build notes, and written observations can survive the wipe; the beta character, its name, and its progress cannot.
The practical verdict
You can delete a WoW: Forever beta character, but the action should be treated as irreversible because Blizzard does not provide beta restoration. There is no documented player reset, and a stuck character is handled by waiting for maintenance, rerolling, and reporting the bug. Nothing created in the beta—including names and progress—transfers to the November 4, 2026 launch. The only transfer mentioned by Blizzard is the separate live-game rule allowing a dead Hardcore character to change rulesets.
