Short answer: Rockstar has not published a Grand Theft Auto VI-specific parental-control panel or switches for turning off nudity, sexual content, violence or language. As of 18 October 2026, the dependable controls are on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S account that runs the game. Set those limits before installation, then inspect GTA 6’s own Settings and Online menus after launch for any newly documented options.
GTA 6 is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB. That rating lists blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, use of drugs and alcohol, and in-game purchases. A console age gate can prevent access; it cannot turn an M-rated game into a child-suitable version by selectively removing every listed theme.

What Rockstar and the ESRB have confirmed
Rockstar’s current support information identifies PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as GTA 6 platforms. The ESRB entry rates Grand Theft Auto VI M for Mature 17+ and includes the following content descriptors:
Recommended Free Tools
- Blood and Gore
- Intense Violence
- Mature Humor
- Nudity
- Strong Language
- Strong Sexual Content
- Use of Drugs and Alcohol
- In-Game Purchases
Rockstar has not published a GTA 6-specific menu that lets a parent disable one or more of those categories. Its available GTA 6 support material discusses platforms and editions, not a detailed content-filter system. Treat online claims about a hidden “censor” toggle as unverified unless Rockstar documents the option in the released game or an official support article.

What an M rating means for a household decision
The ESRB descriptors are the clearest public warning about the game’s intended audience. They describe content that may appear in the game, not a list of optional effects that a parent can necessarily switch off. If your rule is “no M-rated games” or “no strong sexual content,” block access at the child account level rather than relying on an in-game setting that has not been confirmed.
In-game purchases are part of the rating notice, so spending deserves its own control even when a child is allowed to play. A purchase approval requirement or a zero-dollar spending limit can prevent accidental transactions, but it does not change the game’s narrative or visual content.
Set limits on a PlayStation 5
PlayStation places these controls at the family-account and console layer. The exact labels can change with system software, but the privacy area is documented at Settings > Users and Accounts > Privacy. Use the family manager, parent or guardian account—not the child’s unrestricted profile—to make the changes.
Rank #2
1. Confirm the account relationship
- Sign in with the adult account that manages the family.
- Open Settings > Family and Parental Controls and verify that the child uses a supervised child account. If the child is using an adult account, age restrictions may not apply as intended.
- Check that the account’s date of birth and family role are correct before changing limits. A wrong birth date can produce an age level that is either too permissive or unnecessarily restrictive.
2. Set the game age level
- In the family-control area, select the child account and open the controls for games and applications.
- Choose an age level below the ESRB M/17+ category if the child should not launch GTA 6.
- Save the setting and test it from the child profile. If the game was already installed, a restriction can still block starting it; deleting the game is not required for the account rule to work.
PlayStation’s family tools are rating-based. The published guidance does not establish a GTA 6-only switch for nudity, language, sexual content or violence, so do not expect separate sliders for those descriptors.
3. Review privacy and communication
- Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Privacy.
- Select the child or the family preset, then review who can contact the account, view activity and interact through PlayStation services.
- Use the most restrictive communication option that fits your household. This controls account-level interactions; it is not evidence of a GTA 6-specific voice-chat filter.
4. Control purchases and playtime
- Set a spending limit or require the family manager’s approval for purchases. This is particularly important because the ESRB lists in-game purchases for GTA 6.
- Configure playtime windows and daily allowances in the family-management tools if you want the console to stop access at a scheduled time.
- After saving, verify the rule while signed in as the child. Adult-account testing can make a restriction appear to have failed when the wrong profile was used.
Set limits on an Xbox Series X|S
Xbox family controls are managed through the console’s privacy and online-safety settings. The ESRB’s Xbox guidance gives this path: Settings > Privacy and online safety. Select the relevant family member before changing any option.
1. Apply an age-based content restriction
- Sign in as the family organizer and open Settings > Privacy and online safety.
- Choose Xbox privacy or the equivalent family member profile, then open Content restrictions.
- Set the permitted age level below M/17+ if the child must not access GTA 6.
- Save, sign out of the organizer account and test the child profile. The restriction applies to game access at the account layer.
2. Individually allow or block the title
Xbox’s documented family guidance allows a parent to individually allow or block titles in addition to an age level. Use that option when the child’s general rating limit is appropriate for other games but GTA 6 is not acceptable in your home. An individual block is more precise than raising or lowering the entire age category.

- Rule the city streets in a thrilling open-world crime adventure.
- Drive luxury cars, bikes, and police vehicles in epic missions.
- Fight gang wars, escape police chases, and dominate turf battles.
- Explore a massive urban map packed with action and secrets.
- Play offline anytime — no internet required for crime fun!
3. Restrict communication and online activity
- In the same privacy-and-online-safety area, review voice and text communication permissions.
- Limit communication to friends, block it entirely, or use the family setting that matches your child’s age and maturity.
- Review multiplayer and cross-network permissions separately. A communication limit does not automatically guarantee that every online feature is disabled.
4. Protect spending
- Require organizer approval for purchases or set a spending limit on the child account.
- Check that the child cannot use a saved payment method without approval.
- Test with the child profile, because an organizer account can bypass the restriction during testing.
The cited Xbox guidance does not establish a GTA 6-specific control for removing nudity, sexual content, violence or language, nor does it specify a GTA 6 playtime setting. Use the platform’s general family tools for the controls they document.

Rockstar has not published the final GTA 6 settings menu in the available official material. When the game is installed, inspect its menus without assuming that options from the previous game carry over.
Rank #4
Settings and accessibility
- Look for display, audio, subtitle, language, controller and accessibility categories.
- Search specifically for content, mature-content, nudity, profanity or violence controls. Record the exact label rather than relying on a video or social-media description.
- Check whether a setting applies only to Story Mode, only to Online, or to both.
Online and communication menus
- Review voice-chat, text-chat, invite and multiplayer privacy options.
- Check whether user-generated content, player-created names or profile images have separate visibility controls.
- Confirm whether cross-network play is enabled and whether it can be disabled.
Purchases and account links
- Look for purchase-confirmation, wallet or store settings, but keep the console spending limit enabled as the primary safeguard.
- Check which Rockstar and platform account is signed in. A restriction on one child profile will not protect a different unrestricted account.
Rockstar’s support answer for the previous game said that GTAV settings could be changed from the Pause Menu in Story Mode or Online. That describes GTAV’s menu flow only; it is not proof that GTA 6 has the same categories or any parental-control switches.
A practical pre-launch checklist
- Confirm that the child uses a supervised family or child account.
- Set the platform age-rating limit below M/17+ if the child should not access GTA 6.
- Review voice, text, multiplayer and cross-network permissions.
- Require purchase approval or set a spending limit because the ESRB lists in-game purchases.
- Set playtime limits and activity visibility where the platform provides them.
- Install system updates and review the family settings again after an account or console change.
- After GTA 6 launches, inspect its Settings and Online menus and compare any claims about content toggles with Rockstar’s support documentation.
Common situations and the right response
“I only want to turn off nudity.”
There is no Rockstar-published GTA 6 nudity toggle to rely on as of 18 October 2026. The available solution is to block the M/17+ game at the child-account level or decide that the child may play only under a parent’s supervision if your household rules allow that.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems“Can I let my teenager play but disable sexual content and strong language?”
No documented GTA 6 menu currently confirms selective removal of those themes. Platform controls can allow or deny the title and can restrict online communication or spending, but they do not edit the game’s authored scenes.
“The game is blocked even though I changed the setting.”
- Check that you changed the child profile, not only the adult organizer profile.
- Verify the child’s birth date, family role and console sign-in.
- Restart the console or sign out and back in so the account policy refreshes.
- On Xbox, check both the age level and any individual-title block. On PlayStation, recheck the family game-and-application restriction.
“My child can play, but I want to stop purchases and strangers.”
Keep the game-access decision separate from online safety. Use the platform’s communication restrictions and spending approval, then review multiplayer and cross-network permissions. These controls address contacts and transactions without claiming to remove GTA 6’s mature story content.
Bottom line for parents
Do not wait for a GTA 6 “censor” menu that Rockstar has not announced. Decide first whether an M/17+ game with the ESRB’s listed themes is acceptable, then enforce that decision through the supervised account on the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Add communication, spending and playtime limits according to the platform’s documented tools. Once the game is live, check its own menus and Rockstar’s support pages for confirmed additions, but treat every unverified claim about nudity, violence or language switches as speculation.
