Yes, the Legion Go 2’s USB4 ports make an external GPU setup with a desktop RTX 5060 plausible, and an external 1440p monitor is the way to target that resolution. But Lenovo does not certify a particular eGPU enclosure, and there is no established benchmark for this exact handheld, enclosure and graphics card combination. Treat it as a configurable docked gaming setup—not a proven build with guaranteed frame rates.
What this setup can—and cannot—promise
The Legion Go 2 is a handheld PC that can connect to compatible external hardware. Its two USB4 ports provide the relevant connection path for a USB4 eGPU enclosure; the desktop RTX 5060 supplies the graphics capability on paper. Those specifications establish that the idea is plausible, not that every enclosure or card will work with every Legion Go 2 SKU.

Nor do the specifications establish how well a game will run. Lenovo’s product information and NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 specifications do not provide benchmark results for this pairing. Any frame-rate estimate needs a test of the actual handheld, enclosure, graphics card, game, settings, drivers and display connection.

Can I use an eGPU with the Legion Go 2?
The Legion Go Gen 2 product listing describes two USB4 ports with 40 Gb/s data transfer, DisplayPort and Power Delivery; Lenovo’s PSREF for the Legion Go 8ASP2 also lists two USB4 ports. That makes a USB4 eGPU enclosure the connection type to investigate. Lenovo’s reviewed documentation does not certify a specific enclosure, so check the enclosure maker’s compatibility information rather than treating USB4 alone as a guarantee. What do the Legion Go 2 and RTX 5060 specifications tell you?
| Component | Published specification | What it means for this build |
|---|---|---|
| Legion Go 2 display | 8.8-inch OLED, 1920 × 1200 (Lenovo) | The built-in screen is not 1440p; use an external monitor for a 1440p target. |
| Legion Go 2 connection | Two USB4 ports; 40 Gb/s data transfer (Lenovo product listing) | USB4 is the documented interface to check against the enclosure. |
| Desktop RTX 5060 memory | 8 GB GDDR7; 128-bit memory interface (NVIDIA) | These are GPU specifications, not evidence of a particular game’s performance. |
| Desktop RTX 5060 power | 145 W total graphics power (NVIDIA) | Check that the enclosure’s power supply and GPU connections support the specific card. |

Can a Legion Go 2 and RTX 5060 run games at 1440p?
The setup can be aimed at 1440p gaming by connecting a 1440p monitor to the eGPU’s graphics output where the enclosure supports that arrangement. However, no authoritative benchmark for this exact configuration establishes frame rates or suitable settings. The RTX 5060’s published memory and power figures do not substitute for game testing.
When assessing a claimed result, look for the exact game, resolution, graphics settings, driver version and whether the reported resolution is native or uses upscaling. Frame generation should also be disclosed. Results should state whether the monitor was connected directly to the eGPU, because that is a different test configuration from using the handheld’s built-in display.

Which eGPU enclosure works with the Legion Go 2?
No specific enclosure has been verified for the Legion Go 2 plus RTX 5060 combination. Choose by checking the enclosure model against your handheld, the exact graphics card and your operating system—not just by seeing “eGPU” or “Thunderbolt” in a product description.
- Host interface: The enclosure must explicitly support USB4 or a compatible Thunderbolt connection with the handheld. Lenovo lists USB4 for this model; do not assume that enclosure marketing about Thunderbolt 5 means the handheld has Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth.
- Card fit: Compare the specific RTX 5060 board’s length, thickness and slot width with the enclosure’s clearance.
- Power and connectors: Check the enclosure power supply and the GPU’s required power connectors against the card maker’s specifications.
- Cable and software: Confirm the included or specified cable supports the intended connection, and check enclosure operating-system support and current vendor drivers.
- Monitor output: Check that the enclosure provides a suitable graphics-card display output for your 1440p monitor and intended refresh rate.
How to plan the setup
- Identify the device: Confirm your exact Legion Go 2 SKU, firmware status and supported operating system.
- Match enclosure and card: Verify USB4 or compatible Thunderbolt support, physical clearance for your particular RTX 5060 board, power supply capacity and connectors.
- Connect and configure: Use the enclosure’s specified cable between the handheld and enclosure, then install current vendor drivers supported by your operating system.
- Attach the monitor: Where the enclosure setup supports it, connect the 1440p monitor to a display output on the graphics card. In the operating system and game, confirm the selected display, resolution and refresh rate.
- Test rather than assume: Check actual games at stated settings. Keep native resolution separate from upscaling and frame generation, and record whether the monitor was connected to the eGPU.
This is a compatibility and testing checklist, not a claim that a particular enclosure or configuration has been tested.
