Passtech Games introduced Kintarō as a playable Hero DLC character alongside Kuma, not as an enemy encounter. The official material lists his abilities and health mechanics, but it does not publish boss telegraphs, attack timings, damage values, or a tested counter sequence. If you meant another Ravenswatch enemy, identify that enemy before relying on a Kintarō guide. If you want to play Kintarō, the information below explains his two stances, Kuma’s shared-health system, and the one attack-combo interaction documented in version 1.6.0.
The premise needs correcting: Kintarō is a playable hero
The wording “how to beat Kintaro” implies a boss or hostile character. Passtech’s version 1.6.0 announcement, dated October 12, 2026, instead describes Kintarō joining Ravenswatch as a new hero. The accompanying Hero DLC presents Kintarō and Kuma as the playable pair.

That distinction changes what advice can be given responsibly. A boss guide needs verified information such as attack indicators, hit windows, damage, phase changes, and reliable responses. The official Kintarō material does not provide those details because it describes a character the player controls. No official source reviewed identifies a Kintarō boss fight or a player-facing counter table.

What the official Kintarō material confirms
- Kintarō is included through Hero DLC rather than being documented as a standard enemy.
- Kintarō fights with Kuma and can operate in mounted and dismounted stances.
- The two stances have separate ATTACK, POWER, SPECIAL, and DEFENSE abilities.
- Kintarō and Kuma share one health bar.
- Damage that hits Kuma transfers to Kintarō as Internal Damage.
- Mounting Kuma again gradually recovers those Internal Damage wounds, according to the Steam DLC description.
- The DLC includes two Ultimate abilities and 26 unlockable Talents.
The sources name the moves but do not rank their damage, state their cooldowns, describe their hitboxes, or identify an optimal rotation. Treat the names as the documented kit, not as evidence that one button is a guaranteed answer to a particular enemy attack.
Kintarō’s mounted and dismounted abilities
The following table reproduces the ability names published in Passtech’s version 1.6.0 announcement. “Function” here means the ability category supplied by the developer; the announcement does not give a frame-by-frame description or numerical specification.
| Stance | ATTACK | POWER | SPECIAL | DEFENSE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mounted with Kuma | Claw Swipes | Charge | Leap | Roar |
| Dismounted | Axe | Whirl and Pound | Double Leap | Roar and Shout |
The official announcement does not establish which move has the highest damage, the safest recovery, the longest range, or the best use against a specific boss. Those judgments require current gameplay testing and should not be presented as official counter instructions.

In mounted mode, the player directs Kuma while Kintarō rides the bear. The named actions are Claw Swipes, Charge, Leap, and Roar. This is the mode in which Kuma’s position is especially important because incoming hits can create Internal Damage for Kintarō even though Kuma and Kintarō use a shared health bar.

- BANISH THE NIGHTMARE FROM YOUR REALM: The Nightmares are spreading within Reverie, corrupting everything in their path. You must hone your skills and find the strength to defeat the creatures of the Nightmare using unique hero abilities inspired by characters from folk tales and legends.
- DYNAMIC GAMEPLAY: To defeat the Nightmare and reach the final chapter, you will need a strong build, focus and excellent teamwork. Increase your fighting power in battles then face the level boss when you feel ready… or when you no longer have a choice.
- DARK TALES: The world of Reverie is built on old folk tales and legends. From the three little pigs to Norse mythology to One Thousand and One Nights, the best-known tales are revisited in a dark-fantasy style and add their timeless appeal to the atmosphere of Ravenswatch.
- HIGH REPLAY VALUE: Run after run, play as different heroes, make the most of the upgrades and items you find, and explore a randomly generated map with new activities and new enemies.
- 2021, Curse of the Dead Gods, a game developped by Passtech Games, published by Focus Home Interactive.
Use the mounted stance when you want to keep the pair together and are comfortable managing Kuma’s exposure. The available evidence does not state whether Charge, Leap, or Roar grants invulnerability, interrupts an enemy, or has a particular cooldown, so do not assume any of those properties without checking the current in-game descriptions.
Dismounted stance: fight beside Kuma
When dismounted, the player controls Kintarō alongside Kuma. The listed actions become Axe, Whirl and Pound, Double Leap, and Roar and Shout. Dismounting changes the named ability set rather than simply adding a cosmetic animation.
The official descriptions do not specify how far Kuma can move from Kintarō, whether every attack can be aimed independently, or how the dismounted abilities interact with individual enemy attack patterns. Those details are version-sensitive gameplay information, not facts established by the release announcement.
How the shared health bar and Internal Damage work
Kintarō and Kuma do not have two independent health pools in the documented system. They share a health bar. When Kuma is hit, the damage transfers to Kintarō as Internal Damage. The Steam listing also says that mounting Kuma again gradually recovers those wounds.

This creates a resource-management issue rather than a boss-counter mechanic:
- A hit on Kuma still matters to Kintarō, even if Kintarō himself was not visibly struck.
- Positioning Kuma in danger can reduce the pair’s effective survivability.
- Returning to a mounted state is the documented way to recover Internal Damage over time.
- The available sources do not state the recovery rate, the maximum Internal Damage, or whether recovery pauses during combat.
Because those numerical details are not published, avoid treating Kuma as a disposable shield or claiming that a certain number of hits can always be absorbed. The safe conclusion is narrower: Kuma’s damage is transferred internally, and mounting again provides gradual recovery according to the DLC description.
The version 1.6.0 Trait interaction
Passtech’s October 12, 2026 version 1.6.0 notes record this interaction: “Using Kintaro’s TRAIT ability interrupts the ATTACK and breaks the ATTACK combo”. In practical terms, the note warns that activating the Trait during an ATTACK sequence can stop that sequence and end the combo.

This is patch-specific information, not a permanent rule. The announcement is a dated launch note, and later patches may change the interaction. Before treating it as live advice, check the current in-game patch notes or test the behavior in a safe run. Do not infer from this note that the Trait is always bad; it only documents the interruption and combo break.

Why there is no verified “counter every Kintarō attack” guide
A genuine counter guide would need to map each enemy attack to a response. For example, it would need to establish when a warning appears, how long the warning lasts, which stance or ability avoids the hit, and what happens if the timing is missed. None of those Kintarō-as-boss details appear in the official sources.
The published kit names do not reveal enemy-style telegraphs or timings. “Charge,” “Leap,” and “Double Leap” are ability labels, not proof of a particular dodge window. Likewise, “Roar” and “Roar and Shout” do not establish stun duration, area, or interruption behavior. Supplying exact timings or a guaranteed counter order would therefore be invented guidance.
If a video, screenshot, or in-game encounter appears to show a hostile Kintarō, verify whether it is a mod, a special event, a player-controlled character viewed from another perspective, or a different enemy whose name is being misread. The official documentation reviewed here does not support a standard Kintarō boss fight.

Use this checklist before searching for a counter build:
Best Value
- Brand new UK Import PAL version. Game in English.
- Pause the game and record the enemy’s exact displayed name, including accents or punctuation.
- Note the chapter, map, difficulty, and game version.
- List the attack that causes trouble: projectile, area effect, charge, grab, summon, or another pattern.
- Check whether you are asking about a boss, an elite, a normal enemy, or a player-controlled hero.
- Search for a guide using that exact enemy name and version, rather than replacing it with Kintarō.
Those details are necessary because Ravenswatch encounters can differ by location and patch. Without them, a “Kintarō counter” answer risks giving you instructions for a character you are not actually fighting.
A responsible way to learn Kintarō in the current game
If your goal is to play Kintarō rather than defeat him, begin by learning one stance at a time. Confirm the mounted and dismounted ability names in the current ability panel, then observe how Kuma’s position affects incoming damage. Track when Internal Damage appears and whether mounting produces the gradual recovery described by the DLC listing.
Next, test the Trait outside a critical ATTACK chain. Version 1.6.0 explicitly records that using the Trait interrupts ATTACK and breaks the combo, but a later patch could alter that behavior. Record the game version whenever you compare results.
Finally, treat the two Ultimates and 26 Talents as build choices rather than as guaranteed answers to a boss. The official announcement confirms their existence and count, but it does not supply enough information to rank them or recommend a specific combination against an enemy.
DLC and base-game requirement
The Steam listing identifies Kintarō and Kuma as Hero DLC and states that the DLC requires the base game. That requirement explains why a player may see references to Kintarō but not have access to the character. Availability, platform support, regional terms, and later content updates can change, so check the store page for your platform before purchasing or troubleshooting access.
Bottom line for the search query
There is no officially documented Kintarō boss to defeat in Ravenswatch, and no validated attack-by-attack counter sequence has been published. Kintarō is a playable Hero DLC character with mounted and dismounted kits, a shared health bar with Kuma, Internal Damage when Kuma is hit, and a version 1.6.0 note about the Trait interrupting ATTACK combos. If you are facing an enemy, identify its exact name and version first; only then can a reliable counter guide be written.
