Not with the APITemplate.io workflow documented for n8n. APITemplate.io documents generating images from saved templates and JSON, and its n8n guide demonstrates PDF generation—not capturing an arbitrary live webpage from a URL. If you need a screenshot of a live site, use a browser-capture tool. If a template-rendered image or PDF is what you need, APITemplate.io can fit that workflow.
Why APITemplate.io is not a live-website screenshot method
A browser screenshot starts with a page URL, loads that page, and captures its rendered state. APITemplate.io’s API reference instead describes creating JPEG or PNG images by supplying data and overrides for a saved template. That is template rendering, not demonstrated browser capture of a URL. Its official n8n integration guide focuses on PDF creation. APITemplate.io API reference · APITemplate.io n8n integration guide

| What you need | Input | Output | What the documented APITemplate.io workflow supports |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capture a live webpage | A page URL and browser-rendered state | Image of the existing webpage | Not established by the cited APITemplate.io documentation |
| Render an image from a template | Saved template and JSON field overrides | JPEG or PNG generated from the template | Described in the API reference |
| Generate a PDF in n8n | PDF template and data | PDF download URL | Documented in the n8n integration guide |
Do not send a website URL to the template-image or PDF endpoint expecting a browser screenshot: the documented input and output describe different jobs. The API reference also includes a V1 create endpoint for template-based image or PDF generation; for the n8n PDF integration, the vendor guide recommends its V2 HTTP Request route instead.

- Build a PDF template. Create it in APITemplate.io with the visual or HTML editor, define the fields your workflow will populate, and note the template ID.
- Store the API key in n8n credentials. Avoid placing the key directly in workflow data or a URL. The guide’s V2 example sends it in the
X-API-KEYheader. - Choose an n8n integration route. The built-in APITemplate.io node uses V1 according to the guide. For V2, the guide recommends an HTTP Request node, with a POST request to
https://rest.apitemplate.io/v2/create-pdf, the template ID in atemplate_idquery parameter, API-key header authentication, and a JSON body. - Use the returned download URL. Pass the response’s
download_urlinto the next step in your workflow, such as sending it by email or saving the file to storage. - Handle longer jobs asynchronously when appropriate. The integration guide describes notifying an n8n webhook when a longer PDF generation job is ready.
For the exact node fields and request-body format, follow the current APITemplate.io n8n integration guide. The V2 endpoint above is specifically the guide’s PDF example; it should not be repurposed as a screenshot endpoint.

Common mistakes and fixes
- Passing a page URL to an APITemplate.io template endpoint: the documented image API renders saved template content with JSON overrides; it does not establish live-page capture. Use a webpage screenshot API for a rendered site image.
- Using the PDF endpoint when you need a PNG or JPEG screenshot: the n8n guide’s V2 example creates a PDF. Choose a screenshot service for a live-page image.
- Assuming the built-in APITemplate.io n8n node uses V2: the vendor guide says its built-in node uses V1. To follow the guide’s V2 PDF path, use an HTTP Request node.
- Putting the API key in the query string or exposed workflow data: use n8n credentials and the authentication method described by the integration guide; its V2 example specifies the
X-API-KEYheader. - Expecting an immediate PDF link for a lengthy job: use the guide’s asynchronous webhook approach when generation takes longer, then continue the workflow when the ready notification arrives.
