The PSB iQ2 is designed to combine those three uses in one stereo system: HDMI eARC handles compatible television audio, a built-in moving-magnet (MM) phono input connects a suitable turntable, and BluOS lets the speakers play in a wider multiroom system with other BluOS-enabled equipment.
There are three important limits. Your television needs a compatible eARC connection, the turntable must use an MM cartridge or an output arrangement that PSB confirms as compatible, and every additional room needs its own BluOS-enabled speaker or audio system. The iQ2’s wireless link between its left and right speakers is a separate feature from BluOS multiroom playback.

Compatibility at a glance
| Use case | iQ2 feature | What you must have | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| TV audio | HDMI eARC input | A television with a compatible eARC port and an appropriate HDMI connection | PSB describes eARC as the straightforward TV path, but TV menus and audio-format options vary by model. |
| Turntable | Built-in MM phono input/preamp | A turntable using a moving-magnet cartridge, or a configuration PSB confirms as compatible | Compatibility with moving-coil cartridges is not established by the published iQ2 information. |
| Multiroom music | BluOS streaming and room grouping | Another BluOS-enabled speaker or audio system in each additional room | The iQ2 pair alone does not create extra rooms, and the available information does not promise that every TV source synchronizes throughout the home. |
| Left/right stereo | Low-latency wireless link between the two iQ2 speakers | The supplied pair and their wireless connection | This speaker-to-speaker link is distinct from Wi-Fi streaming and BluOS multiroom. |
Those capabilities come from PSB’s current iQ2 product description and its June 23, 2026 iQ-series announcement. They describe the product’s intended connections, not an independent performance test.

How the iQ2 system is arranged
The iQ2 is a pair of powered stereo speakers rather than a single soundbar-style enclosure. One speaker reproduces the left channel and the other the right channel, with a low-latency wireless connection joining them. That arrangement avoids running a conventional speaker cable between the two cabinets, while still presenting a true left/right image.

Source selection and network playback are handled by the electronics built into the system. PSB lists HDMI eARC, optical, MM phono, BluOS, and Bluetooth aptX Adaptive on the current product page. The launch announcement additionally lists RCA, USB-C, USB-A, and a subwoofer output for the iQ series. Check the current iQ2 manual and the exact package contents before buying cables or assuming that a particular connector is included on your regional version.
The wireless stereo connection should not be confused with multiroom. The former joins the two speakers that make up one iQ2 system. BluOS uses the home network and compatible BluOS products to send music to rooms beyond that pair.
Connecting a TV through HDMI eARC
What eARC provides
PSB identifies HDMI eARC as the iQ2’s digital TV input and says it makes television setup straightforward. Enhanced Audio Return Channel sends the television’s audio back to the speakers over the HDMI connection, so sources connected to the TV can use the iQ2 without a separate optical lead for each source.

The television must have a compatible eARC port. A normal HDMI socket, an HDMI input that lacks return-channel support, or a television that offers only a different audio output should not be assumed to work in the same way. Look for the eARC label in the TV’s port markings and specifications, then confirm the iQ2 manual’s connection diagram for your model.
Practical TV connection sequence
- Turn off or place the TV and iQ2 in standby while making connections.
- Identify the television’s HDMI port marked eARC. Do not choose an arbitrary HDMI input if the set has a dedicated return-channel port.
- Connect that TV port to the iQ2 HDMI eARC connection with a suitable HDMI cable. The published product information does not establish whether a cable is supplied, so check the box contents first.
- Power on the iQ2 and select its HDMI/eARC source using the system’s controls or the BluOS control interface, following the current manual’s labels.
- In the TV’s sound settings, choose the HDMI eARC output and set the television to the audio format recommended by the TV and iQ2 documentation. Exact menu names, passthrough behavior, and format choices differ between TV brands; the available PSB information does not establish one universal setting.
- Play a program from the TV’s internal app or tuner and raise the iQ2 volume. If there is no sound, work through the troubleshooting section below before changing advanced audio options.
What the published information does not guarantee
PSB’s product and launch materials do not provide a single menu path for every television, list every supported audio format, or state that an older ARC-only TV has the same compatibility as an eARC-equipped model. A third-party result has been associated with a possible PCM-only instruction, but that instruction is not verified in the accessible official manual information and should not be treated as a general rule. Use the manual for the exact TV and speaker combination.
Connecting a turntable
MM is the supported cartridge type
The iQ2 lists a Phono MM input, and PSB describes the iQ-series turntable connection as a built-in MM phono preamp. A moving-magnet cartridge produces the type of signal this input is designed to accept, allowing a compatible turntable to connect directly rather than requiring a separate phono preamplifier.

That does not establish universal turntable compatibility. Moving-coil (MC) cartridges have different electrical requirements, and the published iQ2 information does not say that the built-in phono stage supports them. If your record player uses an MC cartridge, an unusual low-output cartridge, or a switchable line/phono output, check the turntable documentation and confirm the requirements with PSB before connecting it.
Connection steps
- Confirm that the cartridge is MM, or verify with PSB that your particular cartridge and output configuration are supported.
- Turn the iQ2 volume down and switch the speakers to standby.
- Connect the turntable’s left and right analog outputs to the iQ2’s phono input. The launch announcement lists RCA among the iQ-series connections; verify the exact socket labeling on your iQ2.
- Attach the turntable’s ground wire if the turntable provides one and the iQ2 connection instructions call for it. Do not improvise a ground connection when the equipment documentation does not specify one.
- Select the phono source and start a record at a moderate volume. Keep the turntable away from strong vibration and route signal cables away from power leads where practical.
Symptoms of a mismatch
- Very low volume: The turntable may be using an MC cartridge or a line/phono switch may be set incorrectly.
- Severe distortion: A line-level output may be connected to a phono input, or the cartridge and phono stage may not be electrically compatible.
- Hum: Check the turntable ground arrangement and cable routing, then consult both manuals rather than assuming the speaker is defective.
A turntable with its own properly configured line-level output may need a different iQ2 input than the dedicated MM phono connection. Follow the turntable maker’s instructions and verify the iQ2 input level before making that choice.
Using BluOS for multiroom audio
What is required in other rooms
PSB says iQ-series speakers can join other BluOS-enabled speakers and audio systems for multiroom music. In practice, the iQ2 is one BluOS room; each additional room needs another compatible BluOS product. A second iQ2 pair, a BluOS-enabled speaker, or a compatible BluOS component can provide that additional room, subject to the device’s own setup requirements.

BluOS is an ecosystem requirement, not a generic claim that the iQ2 can synchronize with any network speaker. Devices from unrelated multiroom platforms should not be presumed to group with it. Confirm that the model in the other room carries BluOS support and that it remains on the same home network used by the iQ2.
Basic room setup
- Place and power the iQ2 pair, then complete its initial network setup in the BluOS control app or the instructions supplied with the speaker.
- Set up each additional BluOS-enabled player in its room and connect it to the same home network.
- Give every room a distinct name so the control interface can identify the iQ2 and the other players.
- Start music from a BluOS source, select the rooms you want, and group them using the controls presented for your installed BluOS version.
- Adjust the group or individual room volume as needed. If a device does not appear, check its network connection, software status, and BluOS compatibility before attempting to regroup it.
TV and turntable sources in a group
The existence of BluOS multiroom does not by itself prove that every physical input is distributed to every room. PSB’s published material establishes multiroom playback with BluOS-enabled equipment, but it does not promise synchronized playback of every HDMI eARC, phono, optical, RCA, USB, or Bluetooth source. Treat network music services and local physical inputs as separate cases, and consult the current manual for source-sharing behavior.
PSB’s June 23, 2026 announcement says the system supports more than 20 streaming services. That is a manufacturer description rather than a complete, independently checked list, and service availability can vary by country, subscription, and software version.

Wireless stereo versus multiroom networking
| Characteristic | Wireless stereo link | BluOS multiroom |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Connects the left and right iQ2 speakers into one stereo pair | Groups playback across the iQ2 and other compatible rooms |
| Scope | One iQ2 system | Multiple BluOS-enabled speakers or audio systems |
| Network dependence | Described by PSB as a low-latency speaker-to-speaker link | Uses compatible BluOS equipment on the home network |
| What it does not mean | It does not add another room or replace a BluOS player | It does not describe the physical left/right link between the two cabinets |
This distinction matters when planning a home. Buying one iQ2 pair gives you the two-channel living-room system. It does not wirelessly create speakers in a bedroom, kitchen, or office; those rooms require additional compatible hardware.
Inputs and published specifications
| Item | Published information | How it affects planning |
|---|---|---|
| TV input | HDMI eARC | Choose a television with a compatible eARC port. |
| Digital input | Optical | Provides another digital-source option when appropriate; check the TV or source output requirements. |
| Phono | MM phono input / built-in MM phono preamp | Intended for a moving-magnet cartridge; MC support is not established. |
| Network audio | BluOS | Enables streaming and grouping with other BluOS-enabled equipment. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth aptX Adaptive | Useful for compatible Bluetooth playback; it is separate from BluOS room grouping. |
| Additional connections | RCA, USB-C, USB-A, and subwoofer output listed in the iQ-series launch announcement | Verify the exact iQ2 panel labeling and current manual before planning a source or subwoofer around a particular socket. |
| Frequency response | 64 Hz–20 kHz, on axis at 0° ±3 dB | PSB’s published specification, not an independent laboratory result. |
| Low-frequency cutoff | 35 Hz at −10 dB | Use the stated test condition; it is not the same as the ±3 dB frequency-response range. |
| Total system power | 270 watts | Manufacturer-published total system figure; it does not by itself predict room volume or sound quality. |
The frequency-response, cutoff, and power figures are from PSB’s current iQ2 product page, accessed October 13, 2026. No independent listening test or controlled comparison is established by those numbers.
Troubleshooting common connection problems
The TV is connected but silent
- Confirm that the cable runs from the TV’s eARC-labeled port to the iQ2 eARC connection.
- Verify that the iQ2 is on its HDMI/eARC source rather than phono, optical, Bluetooth, or another input.
- Check that the TV’s audio output is set to its HDMI eARC device and that the TV is not muted or sending sound to internal speakers only.
- Try a different known-good HDMI cable if the existing cable or its specification is uncertain.
- Consult both manuals for supported audio formats and handshaking steps. Do not apply an unverified PCM-only rule to every TV.
The turntable is too quiet or distorted
- Verify that the cartridge is MM and that the turntable is connected to the phono input, not an input intended for a different level.
- If the turntable has a phono/line switch, check which mode the iQ2 connection expects.
- For an MC cartridge or unusual output, stop and confirm compatibility before raising the volume.
- Check the ground wire and analog plugs for a secure connection if the problem is hum rather than level.
An additional room does not appear in BluOS
- Make sure the other player is genuinely BluOS-enabled and powered on.
- Confirm that the player and iQ2 are on the same home network.
- Complete the other player’s initial setup before trying to group rooms.
- Check software or firmware status in the BluOS control interface and restart the player if the device remains undiscovered.
The two iQ2 speakers lose their stereo relationship
- Check power to both cabinets and follow the iQ2 manual’s pairing or recovery procedure.
- Keep the speakers within the placement and obstruction limits specified by PSB rather than treating the stereo link like an unlimited wireless network.
- Do not troubleshoot a lost left/right link as if it were a BluOS multiroom failure; the systems serve different purposes.
Before you buy or install: a compatibility checklist
- Television: Locate an HDMI port explicitly identified as eARC and confirm that the TV’s documentation supports audio return through it.
- Turntable: Identify the cartridge type. MM is the published match; obtain confirmation before using MC or a nonstandard output.
- Other rooms: List the speakers or components you intend to use elsewhere and verify BluOS support for each model.
- Physical inputs: Compare your sources with the iQ2’s HDMI eARC, optical, phono, Bluetooth, and other listed connections. Check the actual rear-panel labels and regional manual.
- Cables: Inspect the package contents and your existing HDMI, RCA, optical, and power cables. The available product information does not establish which cables are included.
- Network: Plan where the iQ2 and additional BluOS devices will connect to the same home network, with stable coverage in each room.
- Subwoofer plans: If you intend to add one, verify the current iQ2 subwoofer-output instructions and the subwoofer’s input requirements.
What PSB claims—and what it does not
PSB Product Manager Mack Tommy described the iQ series as an answer for listeners who want high-fidelity sound without the complexity of traditional separates. Vice President of Product Development Matt Simmonds said the series was engineered to deliver stereo performance from a simplified system. Those are official product statements, not independent measurements.
The practical conclusion is narrower and more useful: the iQ2 has the connection categories needed for a TV, an MM turntable, and BluOS-based multiroom music, but each part depends on a matching requirement. Check eARC at the TV, MM at the cartridge, and BluOS at every additional player before treating the system as a complete whole-home solution.
