Yes. ASUS says the ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 can keep a compatible ROG Xbox Ally charging while it is connected to a TV and peripherals. The dock can deliver up to 80W through its USB-C connection, provided you supply power through a suitable USB-C Power Delivery charger. ASUS recommends a 100W-or-higher charger for the dock’s full rated output, and the charger is sold separately.
That rating answers whether charging can continue during play, but it does not guarantee that the battery will gain charge during every game or performance mode. ASUS’s published material confirms the capability and maximum rating; it does not provide independent measurements for every title, battery state, thermal condition or Turbo-mode workload.

How the DG310’s charging path works
The DG310 is a powered dock rather than a battery pack. Your charger connects to the dock’s USB-C power input, and the dock sends power to the Xbox Ally over the single USB-C connection used for the dock’s functions. ASUS specifies up to 80W of charging power over that connection.

The dock’s input is rated for up to 100W. That is why ASUS recommends a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated at 100W or more: the charger must provide enough capacity for the dock to reach its maximum 80W output while operating its display, USB and network functions. A 100W charger does not mean the handheld receives 100W; the published maximum delivered to the Ally is 80W.

The 80W figure is a ceiling, not a promise that every session will draw exactly 80W. Actual power can depend on the handheld’s current demand, connected accessories and system conditions. The available documentation establishes the dock’s rated capability, but does not include independent measurements showing how quickly the battery rises in particular games.
What you need before connecting an Xbox Ally
- A compatible ROG Xbox Ally device with USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery support.
- The DG310 dock and a USB-C cable for the dock-to-handheld connection.
- A USB-C PD charger rated at 100W or higher if you want the dock’s full 80W output.
- A wall outlet and, if you are using external video, a suitable HDMI cable and display.
The DG310 does not include a charger. You must provide one separately, and the charger should be a USB-C PD model with a rating of at least 100W. Using a lower-rated adapter may still power a particular setup, but ASUS’s full-output recommendation is 100W or higher; the company does not state that a lower rating will deliver the same 80W result.
Step-by-step: connect the dock for charging while playing
- Place the Ally in the dock. Seat the handheld in the built-in stand so its USB-C connection aligns without forcing the plug. The stand is shaped for the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026).
- Connect power to the dock. Plug your 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger into the DG310’s USB-C power input, then connect the charger to mains power. The dock itself is not supplied with a charger.
- Connect the handheld. Use the dock’s USB-C connection to connect the Ally. This single connection carries the dock’s supported charging and display functions.
- Add a display if required. Connect an HDMI cable from the dock’s HDMI 2.1 output to your TV or monitor. The dock can also operate with peripherals connected without an external display, but ASUS’s charging statement specifically describes use while connected to a TV and peripherals.
- Attach accessories. Plug keyboards, mice, storage or other wired accessories into the three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. Connect wired networking to the Gigabit Ethernet port if you need it.
- Start or resume the game. Once the dock and handheld have power, launch the game and check the Ally’s charging indicator. The ASUS FAQ says the device keeps charging while connected to the TV and peripherals.
- Check the result under your workload. If the battery percentage still falls, treat that as a workload or power-budget observation rather than proof that the dock lacks charging support. Confirm the charger rating, cable connections and operating conditions before drawing a conclusion.
Does it keep charging in Turbo mode?
ASUS’s FAQ confirms simultaneous charging during gameplay with a TV and peripherals, but it does not specifically publish a Turbo-mode test or a guaranteed battery-gain rate for Turbo mode. Turbo mode can increase the handheld’s power demand, so the important distinction is between receiving charging power and seeing a rising battery percentage.

With a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger, the DG310 is rated to provide up to 80W to the Ally. That gives the system the charging capability ASUS documents, including during a connected gaming setup. However, the supplied specifications do not establish that every Turbo-mode game will produce a net battery increase. A demanding title, a low battery, high display output or other connected devices may change the balance between incoming power and system consumption.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
For a practical check, observe the battery indicator during the same game and graphics settings you normally use. If the indicator shows charging but the percentage changes slowly or remains flat, the system may be using most of the available power. If it falls, verify the charger and connections first; ASUS has not published a universal Turbo-mode battery curve for the DG310.
Compatibility and physical fit
The dock is designed for the ROG Xbox Ally family. ASUS states that one USB-C cable works with devices that support both USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. Those two capabilities matter for the dock’s intended use: DisplayPort Alt Mode carries video to the HDMI output, while USB Power Delivery handles negotiated power.
The built-in stand is specifically shaped for three models identified by ASUS:
- ROG Xbox Ally (2025)
- ROG Xbox Ally X (2025)
- ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026)
If you are considering another handheld, do not assume the stand will fit simply because it has a USB-C port. Physical clearance, connector alignment, DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB PD support all affect whether the one-cable arrangement works. The published compatibility statement covers USB-C devices with those standards, while the stand geometry is identified for the three ROG Xbox Ally models above.

Ports, display support and what the dock adds
Charging is the main reason to use a powered dock, but the DG310 combines it with six total functions. Its ports and published limits are:
| Connection | Published specification | Use in an Xbox Ally setup |
|---|---|---|
| HDMI | HDMI 2.1; up to 3840×2160 at 144Hz or 7680×4320 at 30Hz; HDR, VRR and ALLM support | Connects the Ally to a compatible TV or monitor for high-refresh or high-resolution play |
| USB-A | Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports | Connects wired peripherals and other USB accessories |
| Ethernet | Gigabit Ethernet | Provides a wired network connection |
| USB-C power input | Accepts up to 100W input | Receives power from the separately purchased USB-C PD charger |
The HDMI figures are output capabilities of the dock, not a promise that every game will render at 4K/144Hz or 8K/30Hz. The Ally, game engine, display and selected graphics settings still determine the resolution and frame rate you actually achieve. HDR, variable refresh rate and automatic low-latency mode are supported by the HDMI interface when the connected equipment and software also support those features.
Why a 100W charger is recommended for an 80W output
The difference between the charger’s rating and the dock’s output often causes confusion. The charger is the dock’s upstream power source, while 80W is the maximum ASUS says can be delivered to the handheld. The dock also has to operate its own electronics and connected ports. A 100W-or-higher PD adapter gives the dock the input capacity ASUS specifies for reaching the 80W figure; it does not turn the dock into a 100W handheld charger.
Choose a charger by its USB-C Power Delivery specification and its rated wattage, not by a marketing label that omits the output profile. ASUS’s published recommendation is simply 100W or higher. If an adapter has multiple ports, check how its wattage is allocated when more than one device is connected, because the dock can only use the power available to it through its USB-C input.

The charger is a separate purchase. The DG310 package should therefore be planned as a dock-plus-charger setup rather than an all-in-one bundle. Reusing a suitable 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger can avoid buying another adapter, provided its cable and output specification meet the charger manufacturer’s requirements.

The battery icon shows no charging state
- Confirm the charger is plugged into the dock’s USB-C power input, not another port.
- Verify that the adapter is a USB-C PD charger rated at 100W or higher, matching ASUS’s recommendation for full output.
- Reseat the dock-to-Ally USB-C connection and make sure the handheld is fully seated in the stand.
- Disconnect optional USB devices temporarily. This isolates a peripheral, cable or connection issue from the basic charging path.
The battery charges but still loses percentage during play
That result does not contradict the 80W specification. ASUS rates the dock at up to 80W and confirms charging during a connected TV-and-peripheral setup, but the documentation does not promise a net battery increase for every workload. Test with the same game, display mode and performance setting after confirming the charger and cables.
The external display works but charging does not
Video output alone does not prove that the power path is configured correctly. Check that the charger is connected to the dock’s dedicated power input and that the adapter supports USB PD at the recommended wattage. The dock’s one-cable design depends on both DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery support on the handheld.
The dock does not fit a different handheld
The physical stand is identified for the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026). A different device may require a different stand or may not align with the connector even if it supports USB-C video and charging. Do not force the connector or rely on the presence of a USB-C port alone.

What ASUS has and has not established
ASUS’s ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 FAQ, updated September 14, 2026, states that the dock delivers up to 80W over USB-C so the device keeps charging while connected to a TV and peripherals. ASUS’s October 15, 2026 press release also describes up to 80W power delivery when a 100W charger is used. Together, those documents support a clear yes to simultaneous charging for a compatible ROG Xbox Ally.
Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent laboratory measurements. They do not establish charging speed for every game, a guaranteed battery increase in Turbo mode, behavior at every battery level or performance under every thermal condition. The most accurate expectation is that the DG310 supplies the documented charging capability; the battery’s net change depends on how much power the Ally is using at that moment.
Who the DG310 suits
The dock is a good fit if you want one desk or living-room connection that combines handheld charging with HDMI 2.1 video, three USB-A ports and Gigabit Ethernet. It is particularly straightforward for owners of the three ROG Xbox Ally models ASUS lists, because the stand is shaped for them and the one-cable connection is designed around USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB PD.
Plan for a separate 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger when calculating the total setup. If you already own a charger with that rating, the DG310 can use it; otherwise, the dock does not provide a charging brick in the box. Buyers who need a guaranteed battery increase under a specific Turbo-mode game should regard the 80W figure as a rated maximum and verify the result with their own title and settings rather than treating it as a universal performance guarantee.
Bottom line
The ASUS ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 can charge a compatible ROG Xbox Ally while you play. Its published maximum is up to 80W, ASUS recommends a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger to reach that output, and the charger is sold separately. The dock adds HDMI 2.1, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports and Gigabit Ethernet, while its stand is shaped for the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026). Charging is confirmed; a net battery gain in every game or Turbo-mode workload is not.
