Payhip can work well as a checkout and sales layer for bloggers who want to sell their own downloads, courses, coaching, memberships or physical products. It is less clearly suited to replacing a blog, bringing in customers or serving as a complete audience-management system. Whether it is “any good” depends on the products you sell, the sales volume you expect, and how much control and reporting you need.
What Payhip does for a blogger
Payhip is a hosted ecommerce platform with a seller storefront. It also describes embedding checkout into an existing website, so a blogger can keep publishing on their blog and send readers to a Payhip checkout rather than move the blog itself. Payhip’s site says it serves over 370,000 sellers, creators and entrepreneurs; that is a company-published count, not an independently audited figure.

Think of Payhip as a way to list products, take orders and provide certain purchase-related services. The available evidence does not establish it as a replacement for a blog’s publishing workflow or a way to acquire traffic. You will still need readers and a plan for reaching them.

Payhip lists digital downloads, online courses, coaching, memberships and physical products. That breadth is useful if your business combines, for example, an ebook with a course or paid membership. The formats do not all have the same fulfillment needs.
#1 Best Overall
Digital downloads and courses
For digital purchases, Payhip describes sending buyers to a download page and emailing a receipt with access details. This can reduce manual delivery work after a sale. Check the product setup and buyer experience against your own requirements before you commit to a larger catalog.
Coaching and memberships
Payhip lists coaching and memberships among its product types. Memberships support recurring billing and member access, making the platform a possible option for bloggers selling ongoing access rather than a one-time file. Recurring billing does not itself guarantee member retention or sales.
Physical products
For a physical order, Payhip notifies the seller and provides shipping details. The seller arranges shipping, marks the order as shipped and can send tracking information. Payhip therefore supports order management, but the described workflow does not make it the shipper or fulfill the package for you.

How much does Payhip cost?
Payhip’s pricing page lists three plans with the same feature set. The figures below are the prices and Payhip transaction-fee rates shown on that page when accessed in 2026; confirm them before choosing because prices can change.
| Plan | Monthly price | Payhip transaction fee |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5% |
| Plus | $29 | 2% |
| Pro | $99 | 0% |
The 0% on Pro means no Payhip transaction fee; it does not mean payment processing is free. Payhip says payment providers such as PayPal or Stripe can charge their own fees in addition to the plan charges. Available providers depend on your country, so confirm that a suitable option is available before building your checkout around it.
To compare plans, estimate the Payhip charges for your likely sales and add processor fees under the terms that apply to your account. The right choice depends on order volume, average order value, refunds and payment-method mix; there is no useful break-even figure without assumptions about those variables. Since Payhip says all plans include the same features, the main listed plan differences are the monthly charge and Payhip’s transaction fee.

What are the tax responsibilities?
Payhip says it collects and remits digital VAT for the EU and UK, and describes tax collection and remittance for some other regions on its feature pages. Its pricing information also says sellers can set up other taxes and Payhip reports them. This is not a blanket promise that Payhip handles every tax obligation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBefore selling, check the rules that apply to your business and customers, including any registration, income-tax and reporting responsibilities in your jurisdiction. Treat Payhip’s stated VAT handling as a defined platform service, not a substitute for checking your own obligations.
What are the advantages and trade-offs for bloggers?
Where Payhip can help
- One service lists several product types, which can suit a blog that sells both one-off items and recurring access.
- Digital delivery is built into the described purchase workflow, while physical orders include seller-facing shipping details and tracking support.
- Payhip presents storefront building, coupons, email tools and seller affiliate features as platform features.
- All three listed plans include the same features, so the published plan distinction is primarily price and Payhip transaction fees.
What to weigh before choosing it
- Free has a 5% Payhip transaction fee, and Plus has both a monthly charge and a 2% Payhip transaction fee. Processor fees may apply on top of either.
- You remain responsible for shipping physical goods and should verify any tax duties not covered by Payhip’s stated services.
- A blogger-focused review updated January 22, 2024, criticized customization and analytics depth, and noted Plus’s continuing transaction fee. Those are that reviewer’s assessments, not independently verified findings here; platform capabilities may have changed since the review.
A separate review updated July 1, 2026, provides additional third-party context, but it is still an external assessment rather than a guarantee of fit for your site. The available evidence does not establish a hands-on account test, a direct product comparison or typical seller earnings. Choose based on your own workflow and current plan details rather than assuming a particular sales outcome.

Payhip’s Partner Program versus affiliates for your products
There are two different affiliate-related options, and they serve different purposes.
Promote Payhip as a partner
Payhip’s current Partner Program terms state that partners earn 50% recurring commission on transaction fees and paid plan charges collected from referred sellers. The terms list a 30-day cookie, monthly PayPal payouts once the $50 threshold is met, and a ban on self-referrals. They also require partners to disclose that they are third parties and may receive compensation. Because program terms can change, check the official Partner Program page and Partner Program help page before relying on these conditions. Payhip’s Partner Program Terms say: “Partners should at all times make it clear they are a third party and not Payhip or an official representative of Payhip.”
Recruit affiliates to sell your own products
Payhip also offers a seller-side affiliate feature for promoting your ebook, course or other product. Payhip says sellers pay those affiliates themselves; the platform provides sales reports but does not make the affiliate payments for you. This is separate from earning a commission by referring sellers to Payhip.
Best Value
Is Payhip a good fit for your blog?
Payhip is worth considering if you already have an audience, want a hosted checkout for your own products and value having multiple product formats in one service. It may be a poorer fit if you need unusually deep customization or analytics, or if the plan and processor costs do not make sense for your expected sales. The criticism about customization and analytics comes from an external reviewer and should be treated as an assessment to validate against your needs, not as a measured limit.
Before deciding, list the products you intend to sell, map the post-purchase work for each one, check processor availability and compare total fees using realistic sales assumptions. Also confirm the current tax and partner-program terms directly with Payhip. That evaluation will tell you more than a universal yes-or-no verdict: Payhip is a plausible sales layer for a blogger, not an all-in-one promise of publishing, traffic or business success.
